Abstract

The Indonesian government had issued a regulation that restricted the implementation of congregational worship during the Covid-19 pandemic to prevent the transmission of the virus. However, not all people comply with these government regulations. Information become one factor that influence a person's behavior. This study aims to find out how the Indonesian Muslim community uses the media to obtain information related to the implementation of worship during the Covid-19 pandemic. The reason for choosing the Muslim community is because as the majority people in Indonesia and there are a number of congregational worships performed by Muslim. This study uses a quantitative method by conducting a survey of respondents aged between 18-55 years. Online questionnaires were distributed to respondents in the period September 2021 – October 2021. After the validity and reliability tests, there were 92 answers which would then be processed. The results showed that the majority of respondents were in the age range between 18-37 years (a 73 percent) and the majority (65 percent) stated that they joined certain religious organizations. Social media is widely accessed because of the ease of access to information, relevance of information, usefulness, and updating of information. The majority of respondents (78 percent) use social media as their main source of information seeking. There are also conventional mass media, official media belonging to organizations, and official media from religious organizations are rarely used. Access to information is a factor why social media is widely chosen. Even so, respondents still put their trust in conventional mass media thanks to the accuracy of the information and the credibility of the media.

Abstract

The Hajj worship in 2022 is the first post-pandemic time for journalists outside Saudi Arabia to report on the Hajj process. This research discusses Islamic media's coverage strategy, which assigns journalists to Saudi Arabia to cover the Hajj. The research utilized a qualitative method with data sources based on interviews with journalists from Republika media, tv Muhammadiyah (tvMu), and NU Online. The research findings reveal that Indonesian journalists can merely cover the Hajj Media Centre of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs. Another limitation is the prohibition of Saudi Arabian authorities from taking pictures with professional cameras, so journalists employ smartphones to take photos and videos. Regarding news themes, Republika highlighted the importance of health protocols for Indonesian pilgrims. At the same time, NU Online and tvMu reported on religious principles addresed to their respective organizations' perspectives. Primary news sources included pilgrimage officers in Saudi Arabia and Indonesian authorities. In particular, tvMu and NU Online correspondingly interviewed news sources from their respective organizations.

Abstract

Praktek ideal Public Relations (PR) adalah ketika PR dapat melakukan peran-peran manajerial. PR baru disebut profesional ketika mereka telah melakukan peran-peran manajerial PR. Di Indonesia, praktek ideal ini masih sulit untuk dicapai. Minimnya pemahaman organisasi mengenai peran PR, kurangnya pengetahuan praktisi PR mengenai peran manajerial, dan materi pendidikan PR di Indonesia yang terlalu didominasi materi teknis PR merupakan penyebabnya. Apabila dirangkum, praktek peran manajerial PR di Indonesia terkendala problem struktural. Guna mengatasi persoalan tersebut memerlukan infrastruktur yang baik, dalam konteks ini adalah materi pendidikan PR di Indonesia. Untuk itu, peran praktisi PR, organisasi, dan pemerintah diperlukan guna mendukung terwujudnya peran manajerial bagi PR di Indonesia.  The ideal role for Public Relations is managerial role. The indicator for professional Public Relations is when they do the managerial role. In Indonesia, Public Relations find difficulties to do public relations managerial role. The lack of knowledge about public relations role --both in organization and public relations practitioner itself-- is the main factor.  In addition, the public relations education in Indonesia is dominated by technical skill. In the other word, public relations practice in Indonesia faces the structural problems. To solve this problem, Indonesia needs a good infrastructure related to the public relations -- in this context is the body of knowledge for PR education. To build a good infrastructure, it requires the support from Public Relations Practitioners, organization or corporation, and government.

Abstract

This article discuss about case study on how Indonesian Football Association (Indonesian FA) give their respond to do the Public Information Disclosure. Indonesian FA than express their objection to the demand. Indonesian FA choose as the object in this case, as a representative of non-governmental public organization. This article use Indonesian FA statement related to the Public Information Disclosure, that posted on official website www.pssi.org. Then I use frame analysis Robert N.Entman model as a analytical tool to the statement. The results show that there are two factors that cause Indonesian FA objection. First is structural factor that came from the Indonesian Public Disclosure Act and Act related to the management of football federation. The second is cultural factor that non-governmental public organization in Indonesia, in general, not accustomed to public disclosure obligation.  Tulisan ini mengambil studi kasus bagaimana Persatuan Sepakbola Seluruh Indonesia merespon tuntutan untuk Keterbukaan Informasi Publik. Keputusan Komisi Informasi Pusat (KI Pusat) bahwa PSSI harus menerapkan praktek Keterbukaan Informasi Publik mendapatkan keberatan dari pihak PSSI. Permasalahan pun berbuntut panjang hingga sampai di persidangan tingkat Mahkamah Agung. PSSI dipilih sebagai objek penelitian guna mengkaji bagaimana badan publik non-pemerintah memahami Keterbkaan Informasi Publik. Data dalam tulisan ini menggunakan pernyataan-pernyataan yang disampaikan PSSI melalui website www.pssi.org berkaitan dengan keputusan KI Pusat. Pernyataan tersebut kemudian dianalisis menggunakan framing model Robert N.Entman. Analisis menunjukkan terdapat kendala struktural dan kultural. Faktor struktural datang dari peraturan yang berkaitan dengan PSSI dan peraturan di UU KIP itu sendiri. Sedangkan faktor kultural berkaitan dengan kondisi badan publik non-pemerintah yang tidak terbiasa menghadapi tuntutan keterbukaan informasi.

Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 telah berdampak pada aktivitas jurnalistik, termasuk pada konteks liputan olahraga. Sempat dihentikannya kompetisi olahraga dan pembatasan aktivitas secara luring memaksa media harus mencari tema berita. Pada konteks akademik, tema mengenai manajemen redaksi pemberitaan olahraga media di Indonesia di masa pandemi belum banyak dibahas. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara dengan narasumber perwakilan dari redaksi media. Terdapat empat media yang menjadi informan penelitian ini yakni Bolasport.com, Detik.com, Jawapos.com, dan Okezone.com. Hasil penelitian secara garis besar fokus pada (1) tema berita olahraga yang diangkat dan (2) strategi kerja redaksi dan teknik liputan. Pada tema berita, media memberitakan peristiwa olahraga di waktu lalu, dampak pandemi bagi para pelaku olahraga, dan aktivitas pelaku olahraga ketika kompetisi dihentikan. Ada pun strategi kerja redaksi media menerapkan work from home secara dominan. Teknik liputan media menggunakan sumber berita dari media resmi klub olahraga, mengembangkan informasi yang ada di media sosial, dan melakukan wawancara menggunakan telepon dengan narasumber, dan menghadiri konferensi pers yang digelar oleh organisasi olahraga secara daring.

Abstract

Usaha media berskala kecil menghadapi sejumlah tantangan dalam upaya bertahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas manajemen media Timnas.co dengan pemberitaan tentang tim nasional sepakbola Indonesia. Urgensi penelitian adalah media ini berada di Gorontalo, yang jauh dari akses informasi atau liputan langsung tim nasional Indonesia dan juga sponsor media. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan data berupa wawancara dengan CEO Timnas.co dan satu orang penulis berita, dan arsip digital konten Timnas.co. Sebagai triangulasi data menggunakan pendapat ahli yakni akademisi di bidang komunikasi olahraga. Pengumpulan data dilakukan pada Juli – November 2023. Hasil penelitian, sebagai media berskala kecil, Timnas.co menghadapi tantangan harus berkompromi dengan berita-berita yang masuk hitungan algoritma Google. Hal ini membuat Timnas.co harus meminggirkan konten ulasan mendalam dan jurnalisme sastrawi yang menjadi ciri khas yang direncanakan hendak mereka usung. Tantangan berikutnya adalah sulitnya memperoleh pengiklan karena persepsi negatif terhadp situs berita sepakbola. Hal ini berpengaruh pada minimnya jumlah sumber daya manusia penulis berita, yang mengakibatkan pemberitaan Timnas.co masih mengandalkan mengutip dari media lain, dan dalam proses produksi berita tidak melalui tahap verifikasi informasi berlapis.

Abstract

This resarch based on concept that stated internet give organization advantages in media relations activities. Educational institution being chosen because media relations is important for them. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The data-collecting technique is interview. The informant of the interview is representative from newsroom local newspapers in Yogyakarta. The research result shows that informant give their trust to official website from educational organization. Informant use the information to explore the issue and/or as alternative when they face condition lack of news. Informant also criticize the information quality and the structure of information that published on official website.

Abstract

This article aims to analysis on how Indonesian television media make news coverage about hajj. Indonesia is a second largest Muslim popoulation country, it make the news about Islam will attract Muslim community attention, including hajj. Although television viewer tend to decline, but Indonesian still interested in television. Additionaly, the television news production have more complexities comparing with printed, radio, and online media. Research use qualitative methods with data sources interview with television journalist from four different television station, who depart to Saudi Arabia in order make news coverage in Hajj year 2022. Results shows Indonesian media focus to educate audience on health issue, because 2022 was the first time hajj re-open after the Covid-19 pandemic. Antoher theme were update about Indonesian pilgrims situation, feature news and soft news about unique things in Saudi Arabia. Indonesian journalist applied solo journalism practice and use only smartphone for information gathering and processing. Indonesian journalist joined in Media Center Haji (MCH) formed by Ministry of Religious Affair Republic Indonesia. In the MCH, journalist collaborate each other by sharing the raw information on the storage. Challenges in news reporting was the restriction rules impose by Saudi Arabia government, especially in taking or recording picture.

Abstract

The case of the Uyghur ethnic in Xinjiang, China, has drawn global attention, and so has the media coverage of this issue. In Indonesia, the Uyghur issue attracts people’s attention due to religious sentiment. This article aims to determine how Indonesian mass media newsroom management is in Uyghur news coverage. Much previous research discusses how Indonesian media news coverage towards the Uyghur issue, but most use content analysis methods. Meanwhile, the primary data of this article is an interview with the journalist. Two media, Tempo and Republika, have been chosen as the subject matter, as both have different ideologies: human rights (Tempo) and Islam (Republika). The results show that both media use psychological proximity as a consideration in choosing information and news angles for the Uyghur issue. In organizing, both media do not form specific teams or order journalists based on particular skills to cover it. In the fundamental phase, both media admit difficulties in news coverage due to the limited access in Xinjiang directly, so for the news that happens in China. They can only use foreign news agencies, then rewrite the information to contextual the issue for Indonesian readers. For issues related to Uyghur in Indonesia, both media gather the information by direct reporting and interviewing Indonesian government officials or Islamic organizations. For the controlling phase, Republika did formal and informal procedures. Meanwhile, Tempo uses feedback from readers mentioned on social media and a board called Ombudsman.
