Abstract

Composting of organic waste into compost can be accelerated by using EM4. The nutrients can be obtained from carbohydrate sources, sugar cane, sugar, and brown sugar. This study aimed to determine the quality of Indian almond leaves compost with the addition of carbohydrate sources, sugar cane water, sugar, and brown sugar. The study employed a qualitative descriptive to describe the quality of the compost which refers to the National Compost Standard (SNI: 19-7030-2004). The results showed that the quality of the compost with the addition of the aforementioned carbohydrates sources has a C/N ratio value that exceeds the National Compost Standard (SNI: 19-7030-2004). Meanwhile, other characteristics such as temperature, pH, humidity, texture, color, and smell had met the requirements of the National Compost Standard (SNI: 19-7030-2004). The most effective source of carbohydrates for producing quality compost was brown sugar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penyerapan logam berat merkuri (Hg) oleh bakteri Bacillus subtillis pada sedimen danau Limboto. Penelitian dilaksanakan dari April sampai dengan Mei 2018. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode eksploratif. Analisis data dengan menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa bakteri Bacillus subtillis dapat menurunkan kadar merkuri pada sedimen dan limboto dengan penyerapan merkuri (Hg) pada sedimen di stasiun I Sungai Biyonga untuk konsentrasi bakteri sebesar 55% jumlah penyerapan merkuri (Hg) sebesar 20,3%, untuk konsentrasi bakteri sebesar 60% jumlah penyerapan merkuri (Hg) sebesar 26,1% dan untuk konsentrasi bakteri sebesar 65% jumlah penyerapan merkuri (Hg) sebesar 31,2%. Pada stasiun II untuk setiap konsentrasi bakteri mengalami kenaikan pula. Untuk konsentrasi bakteri sebesar 55% jumlah penyerapan merkuri (Hg) sebesar 18%, untuk konsentrasi bakteri sebesar 60% jumlah penyerapan merkuri (Hg) sebesar 21% dan untuk konsentrasi bakteri sebesar 65% jumlah penyerapan merkuri (Hg) sebesar 36,1%.

Abstract

The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to find out the types of pathogenic fungi that caused rotten cacao fruits based on morphological characteristics in Tumba village. Fungi isolation was performed by employing the moist chamber method with the PDA medium. Moreover, the identification of pathogenic fungal isolates followed the morphological characteristics mentioned earlier. The results showed that four fungal isolates contributed to the rotting of cacao fruits in the site area. Fungal isolate Tumba 1 (T1) had morphological characteristics of a white colony with smooth surface, and oval sporangium with a bulge on its tip; fungal isolate Tumba 2 (T2) consisted of morphological characteristics of a white colony with a pink circle in the middle, and having a sickle-shaped and oval macroconidia; fungal isolate Tumba 3 (T3) comprised morphological characteristics of a dark black colony with irregular shape, uneven edge, and having a long conidiophore with a big conidial head; fungal isolate Tumba 4 (T4) had morphological characteristics of a black colony with a white circle in the middle, uneven edge, and having a tube-shaped conidium. As based on the morphological characteristics, it was assumed that the four fungal isolates causing the rotten cacao fruit were similar to the types of fungi, i.e., Phytopthora palmivora, Fusarium sp, Aspergilus niger, and Gloeosprorium sp.

Abstract

Sejak epidemi ini yang diawali Wabah Novel Penumonia Coronavirus di Wuhan, Provinsi Hubei, COVID-19 menyebar kasus-kasus ini (secara resmi dinamakan COVID-19) telah dilaporkan juga menyebar di luar Wuhan. Virus baru ini tampaknya sangat menular dan telah menyebar dengan cepat secara global. Dalam rangka mengurangi angka kematian dan kesakitan covid-19, kader pemuda kesehatan desa haruslah dapat bekerja sama dengan masyarakat. Pembinaan kader pemuda kesehatan desa yang dilakukan berisi tentang peran kader dalam deteksi dini tanda bahaya dalam penanggulangan virus covid-19.

Abstract

Prevention of the spread of drugs in the community is actually a shared responsibility. In this case, all parties including the community itself and the government must play an active role in being aware of the threat of drugs. Research results from the National Narcotics Agency of Gorontalo Province show that as many as 80% of users are teenagers. As many as 13,710 or 5.8% of students and college students have used drugs. The rate of increase in drug users is about 29% each year. Based on Narcotics Case Report Data (LKN) at the National Narcotics Agency of Gorontalo Province (BNNP), the number of drug cases in Gorontalo for 3 years, from 2015 to 2017 there was an increase every year. In 2017 it increased again by 18 LKN (BNNP, 2017). in 2020 it was known that Gorontalo Province was one of the areas which was a red zone for drug trafficking in Indonesia.Therefore, in dealing with this, steps and strategies are needed as an effort to prevent the spread and abuse of drugs in the community.The program given is expected to focus on eradication and prevention, one of which is through preventive methods. By applying a preventive method and supported by a cultural approach by prioritizing the habits and customs of the people of Cisadane Village, then through the Thematic Community Service Program in Shining Village, which will be carried out in Cisadane Village, Kwandang District, North Gorontalo Regency, it is hoped that it can prevent and eradicate the spread and abuse of drugs. among the local community.

Abstract

Siam weed (Chromolaena odorata) which can be used as fertilizer and vegetable pesticide in liquid form. Siamese weeds are very abundant and we can find them in almost all areas of uncultivated garden land. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of Siamese weed (C. odorata) as fertilizer and pesticide in liquid form on the growth of horticultural crops. The type of research is experimental as well as quantitative exploratory. Analysis used a randomized block design (RAK), with four treatments and six replications, namely: Treatment K (without Siamese weed fertilizer and pesticide), treatment A (Liquid organic fertilizer for Siamese weeds 20%), treatment B (liquid organic fertilizer for weeds). siam 30 %), and treatment C (liquid organic fertilizer of weedsiam 40%), treatment D (liquid organic fertilizer of weed siam 50%), and treatment E (liquid organic fertilizer of weedsiam 60%), the results obtained were the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) Siamese weed leaves with a concentration of 60% (treatment E) had a significant effect on the growth of purple eggplant and shallot plants.

Abstract

Community empowerment is a process in which people, especially those who lack access to development resources, are encouraged to increase their independence in developing their lives. The main superior products in Huhak Village are fish and shallots which are cultivated by farmers. The prospect of onion farming is said to be quite bright. Through this shallot processing training, apart from helping the marketing of shallot farmers, it can also reduce the unemployment rate in the area around the industry. The target is the realization of a processing and marketing system that is able to guarantee price stability and the availability of quality shallots independently. Training activities for youth cadres of Huhak village, Pagimana District, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi Province went smoothly and in accordance with the expected target, namely increasing public awareness about the function and role of village youth cadres in terms of seeking community agricultural products, especially in processing red onions in packaging so that these expectations can be achieved well.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan membandingkan kualitas kompos organik yang menggunakan EM4 (Effective Microorganism) dan kompos yang menggunakan MOL (mikroorganisme lokal) yang terbuat dari keong mas. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama bulan Maret-Juli 2020 di laboratorium Jurusan Biologi Fakultas MIPA Universitas Negeri Gorontalo; pengujian lebih lanjut dilakukan di laboratorium PT. hal. Tolangohula, Gorontalo. Parameter penelitian meliputi kualitas fisik kompos (suhu, kadar pH, kelembaban, susut bobot, warna, bau, dan tekstur) dan kualitas kimia (kadar air, kadar C organik, kadar N, dan rasio C/N). . Metode deskriptif digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas fisik kompos yang menggunakan bioaktivator EM4 telah mencapai spesifikasi kompos matang sebagaimana diatur dalam SNI No. 19-7030-2004. Sedangkan kompos yang menggunakan MOL dari keong emas menghasilkan sedikit bau yang tidak sedap. Selain itu, dari segi kualitas kimia, kualitas kompos yang menggunakan EM4 lebih mendekati spesifikasi kompos matang dibandingkan dengan kompos MOL.

Abstract

The learning tool that will be developed is Student Worksheet oriented High Order Thinking (HOTS). Based on interviews with science subject teachers at research school used was student worksheet not HOTS-oriented, which was still Middle Order Thinking Skills level. This study aims (1) determine validity of student worksheets oriented HOTS on environmental pollution material, (2) describe practicality of student worksheets oriented HOTS on environmental pollution material, (3) describe effectiveness of student worksheets oriented HOTS on environmental pollution material developed. Research development with the Four-D development model developed by Thingarajan consists of 4 stages: define, design and develop. The results of the study were seen from percentage of each aspect obtained from 3 validators, namely validator I of 97%, validator II of 73% and validator III of 100% with very valid criteria. In addition, practicality of student worksheets oriented HOTS is seen from three stages, namely student activities (88.28%), learning implementation (100%), and student responses to student worksheets oriented HOTS (87%) with very good criteria. The effectiveness of student worksheets oriented HOTS states that the results of pretest and posttest carried out during learning show different results, namely the posttest is greater than pretest result using N-gain score % with value of 78 categorized as effective. Thus, student worksheets oriented HOTS is feasible and can be used in science learning about environmental pollution. Novelty this research is to produce student worksheets oriented HOTS on environmental pollution material. Benefits of research can foster creativity of students to think at higher levels independently.

Abstract

This article is based on the Community Service Program through the Thematic Village Development Community Service program at Gorontalo State University. The aim is to accelerate the achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Point 3 (ensure a healthy life and encourage prosperity for all people at all ages) in Mohungo Village, Tilamuta District, Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province after the COVID-19 pandemic. The solution offered from this program is the development of healthy gardens in yards using TOGA (Family Medicinal Plants) waste technology. TOGA waste is a technology for utilizing used consumables as a means for planting TOGA. Implementation of activities includes observation and surveys, outreach and education, making healthy parks, and launching programs. Based on the stages of the activities that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the implementation of making a Toga waste garden is very beneficial for the community and the government, namely by increasing public knowledge, especially PKK mothers, in utilizing plastic waste as a planting medium and planting family medicinal plants. Community involvement in assisting each stage and process from start to finish is a form of community concern for the environment.
