Abstract

Background: Sleep quality not only affects physical health but also on individual performance. Anxiety is thought to associate with poor sleep quality. This study aims to determine the association between anxiety and sleep quality in surgery residents of Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. Methods: The subjects of the study were 48 surgery residents of Faculty of Medicine of Udayana University. The study used a cross sectional analytical method. Measurement of anxiety using the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and sleep quality questionnaire using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data were analyzed descriptively and used the chi square test with significance level p <0.05. Results: The results showed that 33.3% of surgery residents of Faculty of Medicine of Udayana University had anxiety and most had poor sleep quality (87.5%). There is an association between anxiety and sleep quality in surgery residents of Faculty of Medicine of Udayana University with PR 3.0 (95% CI 0,9-9,1; p <0.005). Conclusion: This study shows that there is a significant relationship between anxiety and sleep quality where surgery residents of Faculty of Medicine of Udayana University with anxiety 3 times at risk of developing poor sleep quality than those without anxiety. Therefore it is necessary to manage anxiety as well as the arrangement of night shift to improve sleep quality.

Abstract

Background: Cigarette addiction not only affects physical health but also individual mental development. The family function is thought to influence the occurrence of cigarette addiction in adolescents. This study aims to determine the association between family function and cigarette addiction in high school students in Denpasar. Patients and Methods: The study participants were 138 high school students in Denpasar, aged 15-18 years. This study used an analytical cross-sectional method. Measurement of family functions using the Family Assessment Device (FAD) and cigarette addiction measured by the Fagerström Test for Nicotine Dependence (FTND) questionnaire. Data were analyzed descriptively and using the chi-square test with significance level p <0.05. Results: The results showed that high school students who smoked were 29.7%. Most high school students have a good family function (73.2%). There is an association between family function and cigarette addiction in high school students in Denpasar with OR 16.8 (95% CI 6.7-42.1; p <0.001). In this study, the most important dimension from the family function was the problem-solving dimension with OR 8.29 and 95% CI 3.4-20.30 (p <0.001). Conclusion: There is a positive association between family problem and cigarette addiction in high school students in Denpasar.

Abstract

Background: Perimenopause covers the period immediately before the menopause and the first year after the last menstrual period. In addition to the changes in the menstrual cycle, women in the perimenopause phase often report a number of perimenopausal complaints and depressive disorders. This study aims to determine the prevalence of perimenopausal complaints and depression experienced in nurses at Sanglah General Hospital. Methods: The study uses a cross-sectional analytical. The measurement of perimenopause complaints uses the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) questionnaire and the depression measurement uses the Beck Depression Inventory-II questionnaire (BDI-II). The data are analyzed descriptively, it uses the Fisher test and linear regression test with significance level p <0.05. Results: Nurses who have perimenopausal complaints are 62.7%. Besides, depression is experienced by 23.8% of nurses who have perimenopausal complaints. The complained somatic symptoms with a mild degree are 50% and moderate degree is 40%. While the urogenital sexual symptoms with a moderate degree are 60%, and mild and severe degrees are 20%. Conclusion: This study shows the relationship between perimenopausal complaints and the depression of the nurses in Sanglah General Hospital. Therefore, it is necessary to hold an early detection of depression prevention by screening perimenopausal complaints.

Abstract

Background: A good quality of life in the elderly must be maintained because good quality of life is an optimal condition for the elderly to live their daily lives. Depression in the elderly willhave a severe impact on physical, social life where it will reduce the quality of life. This study was conducted to assess the relationship of quality of life with depression in the elderly.Method: This study uses a cross-sectional method, conducted in May-June 2019, using WHOQOL-BREf, GDS, AMT, ADL.Results: A total of 195 elderly participated, average age 67 years, married 94.4 percent, mostly 45.1 percent did not go to school, ADL was found to be normal, there was moderate cognitive impairment as much as 13.3 percent, and depression 80 percent. There was a significant relationship between quality of life and depression (OR: 1.22; 95% IK 1.02-3.97), which means that elderly people with poor quality of life have a higher risk of depression.Conclusion: There is a significant negative correlation between the quality of life with depression, where the elderly with poor quality of life have a 1.22 times greater risk of depression.

Abstract

Background: Depression is one of the most common mental disorders in society. The causes of multifactorial depression are factors: biology, psychology, and socio-culture. Diet is one of the socio-cultural stressors that is thought to cause depression. Vegetarian is one type of diet that reduces animal ingredients and prefers vegetable ingredients. A vegetarian diet is thought to prevent depression. This study aims to determine the relationship of the vegetarian lacto diet with depression in the Sri Sri Jagannath Gaurangga community in Denpasar. Material and Methods: Study participants numbered 59 people in the Sri Sri Jagannath Gaurangga Pasraman community, Denpasar City, aged 18 years or older. Research using cross sectional analytic methods. Measurement of the vegetarian lacto diet using the Indonesian version of the Mediterranean Diet Score (MedDit Score) questionnaire and depression using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) questionnaire. Data were analyzed descriptively and using chi square test with significance level of <0.05. Results: The results showed an adequate vegetarian diet that was not depressed by 80% while a good vegetarian lacto diet that was not depressed by 78.8%. There was a negative significant relationship between the vegetarian lacto diet and depression in the Sri Sri Jagannath Gaurangga community of Denpasar (p=0.043). Conclusion: The prevalence of depression in the Sri Sri Jagannath Gaurangga Pasraman community in Denpasar was 20.3%. We found that there was a significant negative relationship between the vegetarian lacto diet with depression.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Pendahuluan: Indonesia merupakan negara rawan bencana alam. Sekitar 30-40% korban bencana akan mengalami Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Mempertimbangkan aspek neuropsikologis, PTSD dihasilkan dari kortisol dan glutamat tingkat tinggi. Sedangkan dari aspek psikodinamik, PTSD terjadi akibat menurunnya kontrol diri, rasionalitas, superego, dan kualitas mental dari dalam diri para korban akibat meningkatnya ego, yang menyebabkan mekanisme coping atau pertahanan diri. Pembahasan: Raja Yoga terbukti meregulasi neurotransmiter serotonin dan dopamin yang mampu menekan progresivitas PTSD. Peningkatan superego akibat meditasi Raja Yoga dalam meregulasi diri juga dilibatkan untuk melunakkan mekanisme koping sehingga menurunkan perasaan cemas dan takut. Penerapan Meditasi Raja Yoga juga dapat meningkatkan ego distonik dan libidinal (id) seseorang sehingga menjadikannya lebih semangat dan bergairah yang dapat mencegah menuju PTSD. Analisis manfaat dari Meditasi Raja Yoga sebagai upaya pencegahan dan terapi pada PTSD yakni memiliki keunggulan mudah dilaksanakan, ekonomis, efisien, dan pelaksanaan latihan Meditasi Raja Yoga sangat aman. Pelaksanaan Meditasi Raja Yoga secara rutin berdasarkan hasil penelitian terbaru juga menunjukan efek yang signifikan dalam mencegah morbiditas dan progresivitas PTSD. Simpulan: Meditasi Raja Yoga secara efektif dan signifikan mencegah perkembangan menuju terjadinya manifestasi klinis dari PTSD serta menterapi orang dengan PTSD Kata kunci: Meditasi Raja Yoga, PTSD, Psikodinamik, Neuropsikologi

Abstract

Pedophilia is a frequent case in the world including Indonesia. This makes Indonesia a pedophilia emergency. The data on child abuse based on Commission Child Protection Indonesia (KPAI) in 2010-2014 was increased 42-58 percent of pedophilia. Besides, the victims will eventually become pedophiles that are called victim-to-abuser cycles. Recently, it needed the successful key to therapy against dystonic ego of a pedophilia abuser with Raja Yoga meditation. Meditation is a strategy that has been used to control libidinal (id) and self-regulatory (superego) used in mental health counseling and psychiatry because it can decrease arousal, anxiety, depression, and behavioral disorder. One type of meditation is Raja Yoga meditation that has been studied for years of ability to change behavior and self-regulatory. Supported by several studies, this meditation also can repair abnormalities in the limbic system. Raja Yoga meditation is effective therapy and prevention in pedophilia.

Abstract

Objective:  To determine the relationship between depression, anxiety, and stress with the employment status of people in Bali during Covid-19 pandemic.Methods: This study was a cross-sectional analytical study conducted in Bali, Indonesia, in 2021. The instrument used was DASS-21 questionnaire, which was distributed to a total sample size of 96 people. The relationship between variables were analyzed with a p-value of <0.05 as the cut-off for a significant relationship.Results: Depression symptoms had a significant relationship with gender (p=0.024) while anxiety symptoms had a significant association with the employment status during the pandemic (p=0.027). Similarly, stress symptoms also had a significant relationship with gender (p=0.007) and employment status during COVID-19 pandemic (p=0.007).Conclusion: There is a relationship between depression, anxiety, and stress due to changes in employment status during the COVID-19 pandemic in Badung Districts, Bali.

Abstract

Background: Bipolar disorder is a brain disorder that changes the mood, though, energy and behavior. These abnormalities are implicated by manic, hypomanic, depression and mixed episodes. The incidence of bipolar disorder is not too high, ranging from 2% -4%. However, the incidence of bipolar disorder is more prolonged and more increase.Aim: This study aims to determine the characteristics of bipolar disorder treated in RSUP Sanglah Denpasar in the period April 2016 - March 2017.Method: This study is a descriptive retrospective design which is set at the General Hospital (RSUP) Sanglah Denpasar. Data obtained in the form of secondary data of patient's medical record on period April 2016 - March 2017. Data were analyzed by using SPSS program.Result and Conclusion: Of the 15 patients, the average age of the patient is 31-40 years (46.7%) with the first onset suffered on average 31-40 years old (40%), the most female (66.7% ), senior high school education (86.6%), unmarried marital status (53.3%), private employment (66.7%), bipolar type affective disorder bipolar episode now manic with psychotic symptoms (60%), none family history (80%), stressor of work problems (66.7%) with comorbid psychiatry (6.7%) and some with non-psychiatric comorbid (6.7%), substance abuse (26.7%), and most pharmacological therapy with anticonvulsant antipsychotic combination (20%) and non-pharmacological one by suggestive communication (40%) as well. Gangguan bipolar adalah  kelainan otak yang ditandai dengan perubahan  mood, pemikiran, energi dan tingkah  laku. Kelainan ini ditandai dengan episode  manik, hipomanik, depresi dan campuran. Dapat dikatakan insiden gangguan bipolar tidak tinggi, berkisar 2%-4%. Namun, angka kejadian gangguan bipolar terus meningkat dari tahun ke tahun.Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui karakteristik pasien gangguan bipolar yang dirawat di RSUP Sanglah Denpasar periode April 2016 – Maret 2017.Metode: Penelitian ini berupa desain deskritif restrospektif yang dilakukan di Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat (RSUP) Sanglah Denpasar. Data yang diperoleh berupa data sekunder rekam medis pasien periode April 2016 – Maret 2017. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan program SPSS.Hasil dan Simpulan: Dari 15 pasien, rata-rata berusia 31- 40 tahun (46,7%) dengan onset pertama kali menenderita rata-rata berusia 31-40 tahun (40%), jenis kelamin terbanyak adalah perempuan (66,7%), pendidikan terakhir SMA (86,6%), status pernikahan belum menikah (53,3%), pekerjaan swasta (66,7%), tipe bipolar gangguan afektif bipolar episode kini manik dengan gejala psikotik (60%), tidak ada riwayat keluarga (80%), stressor masalah pekerjaan (66,7%) dengan komorbid psikiatri (6,7%) lalu sebagian dengan komorbid non psikiatri (6,7), penyalahgunaan zat (26,7%), dan terapi farmakologi terbanyak dengan kombinasi antipsikotik antikonvulsan (20%) serta terapi non farmakologi dengan pemberian komunikasi informasi edukasi (40%).

Abstract

Introduction: Smoking is a major cause of preventable death worldwide, and is a major risk factor for six of the eight leading causes of death, namely ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, lower respiratory infections, chronic pulmonary obstructive disease, tuberculosis and lung cancer. This study aims to determine the percentage of cigarette use, the characteristics of age for the first time smoking, and the percentage of use of cigarettes, alcohol, and other substances in PTRM Sandat clients Sanglah Hospital.Method: This study was conducted at PTRM Sandat Sanglah Hospital in August to October 2015 using a descriptive cross-sectional design.Results: The results of this study showed 100% of respondents smoked at a young age with 76% of respondents having a daily smoking status. The data obtained showed that the majority of smoking clients in the age of 13-15 years were 56% and 42% smoked at 16-19 years old. Judging from alcohol consumption, all study respondents consumed alcohol and 74% of respondents consumed marijuana. Of the total respondents, 60% consumed benzodiazepine and 62% of respondents took amphetamines. As many as 66% of respondents took halucinogen drugs and were responsive who consumed opioids by 36%.Conclusion: Percentage of cigarette use in PTRM Sandat clients Sanglah Hospital one hundred percent positive using cigarettes with most having daily smoking status and all starting smoking in their teens. Smoking on PTRM Sandat clients at Sanglah General Hospital when teenagers become gateways for other drug use.
