Abstract

This community service aims to improve teachers' knowledge and skills in teaching techniques at the senior high school level (SMA) in Susut Village through instructional media and realistic learning strategies based on ethnomathematics. With this training, it is hoped that teachers will be more innovative in conducting classroom learning, especially in mathematics learning. Instructional media can improve teachers' knowledge of technology that can support learning in the 4.0 era. Then, instructional media alone is not enough because in a media, of course, a strategy is needed in such a way in learning. Today's learning should be able to align technological sophistication without leaving behind customs and traditions that are close to the lives of students in Susut Village-Bangli. Therefore, the solution offered is the application of realistic learning based on ethnomathematics. The activities that have been carried out for 2 days are providing instructional media and realistic mathematics learning strategies based on ethnomathematics with 20 teachers. The results of measuring the achievement of the target of this activity show that the percentage of achievement of mastery of instructional media using the Flip.Pdf application before the training was 8.75% and there was an increase of 91.25% after the training took place. Likewise with the learning strategy training where only 32.5% of teachers understood how to develop learning strategies before the training was carried out. After the training, there was an increase of 67.5% of teachers who were able to develop learning strategies using a realistic mathematics approach based on ethnomathematics.

Abstract

This study is based on the fact that mathematics learning materials have been unappealing, causing students to quickly become bored and saturated with the learning situation. This has resulted in students not actively participating in lectures, revealing a low level of student conceptual understanding and critical thinking in the context of functions. The research focuses on developing an interactive e-module specifically for university students on the topics of properties and operations of functions, function composition, inverse functions, and function limits, particularly for those in the Information Systems program at ITB Stikom Bali. The e-module, which integrated RME principles such as contextual problems and self-directed learning, was tested using a development research design based on the Plomp model with three methodological phases: preliminary research, development or prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The research data collection methods udes were from questionnaires for lecturer and students, observation results of lecturer and students during the trial, interviews with lecturers and students, also essay tests for students. The results of the Paired Sample T-Test, it is known that the p-value = 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores in students’ conceptual understanding and critical thinking abilities. Additionally, an RME-based e-module was developed with the following characteristics: (1) provides instructions that facilitate self-directed learning for contextual problems, supported by GeoGebra technology; (2) Incorporates RME characteristics (both “model of” and “model for”) to enhance critical thingking and conceptual understanding; (3) Not dependent on other teaching materials because its content is interconnected and self-sufficient; (4) interctive and adapts to technological advancements, making it accessible on both Android and iOS devices; and (5) Allows for independent evaluation through quiz questions and formative tes questions using Google Forms features. The study offers a model for future applications of RME in higher education.

Abstract

Number pattern material is important to study because it serves as a bridge between arithmetic and algebra, playing a strategic role in developing junior high school students' algebraic thinking, mathematical reasoning, and mathematical literacy. This study employs Yves Chevallard's Anthropological Theory of the Didactic (ATD) to analyze the praxeological, epistemic, systemic, and heuristic aspects of mathematical knowledge in Grade VIII number pattern textbooks. The methodology employed is document analysis using a praxeological framework comprising four components: types of tasks, techniques, technology, and theory. The study reveals that the textbook presents a strong mathematical organization in the praxis-praxeological aspect (tasks and techniques), with various examples of number patterns, including triangular numbers, square numbers, the Fibonacci sequence, and arithmetic and geometric sequences. However, the logos aspect (technology and theory) remains implicit and limited. The epistemic aspect shows knowledge presented through an inductive approach from concrete pattern observation to generalization. The systemic aspect demonstrates coherent structure with three interrelated main learning activities. The heuristic aspect shows dominance of pattern-finding strategies through tables and geometric visualization. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of developing the logos aspect in mathematics textbooks to strengthen students’ conceptual understanding and encourage metacognitive reflection.

Abstract

Low student ability in determining the Least Common Multiple (LCM) and Greatest Common Factor (GCF) of a number is caused by a lack of student motivation in learning. Nowadays, a learning innovation based on local wisdom is highly needed, one that is not only fun but also educates students according to their needs in the academic field. One local wisdom that can be developed is the Dakon/Congklak game. This research was also conducted to assess the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of traditional Dakon game-based media based on assessments from design experts, media experts, and learning practitioners. The research sample consisted of 40 fourth-grade students with LCM and GCF material. The method used was R&D (Research and Development) with a 4-D development model, namely define, design, development, and disseminate. The methods used to collect data in this research were questionnaires and interviews so that the data obtained would be more accurate and the resulting media would be more useful for users in the future. The results of the learning design expert review showed that the LCM and GCF learning media was categorized as very feasible (94%), the results of the learning media expert review showed that the LCM and GCF learning media was categorized as feasible (82%), the results of individual trials of the LCM and GCF learning media were categorized as very practical (92%), the results of small group trials of the LCM and GCF learning media were categorized as very practical (93%), and the results of field trials of the LCM and GCF learning media were categorized as very practical (97%). Meanwhile, the effectiveness of the development of the developed LCM and GCF learning media effectively improved LCM and GCF learning outcomes based on the results of the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test analysis which indicated that the median pre-test rank (Mdn = 5.00) was significantly different from the median post-test rank (Mdn = 9.00), Z = 5.540, p = 0.000. This means that it is known that Sig. 0.000 < 0.05 so there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test. Keywords: mathematics, LCM, GCF, dakon, traditional games.
