Abstract

Orthodontic tooth movement occurs due to mechanical stimulation followed by alveolar bone and periodontal ligament remodeling. Bone remodeling is the process of bone resorption in areas of tension and bone formation in areas of tension. Various techniques and drugs are used to speed up orthodontic treatment. This study aims to analyze the expression of BMP2 and TRAP6 on orthodontic tooth movement after the administration of Robusta coffee extract. Twenty-four Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups: C1 (2 weeks) and C2 (3 weeks) groups: rats were given orthodontic mechanical force (OMF) and T1 (2 weeks) and T2 (3 weeks) groups rats were given OMF and Robusta coffee extract. OMF in rats was performed by moving the maxillary right permanent molars mesially with a Niti closed coil spring. Observations were made on the 15th and 22nd day by immunohistochemical examination to determine the expression of BMP2 and TRAP6. Administration of Robusta coffee extract for 2 weeks and 3 weeks increased BMP2 and TRAP6 expression (p <0.05). Administration of Robusta coffee extract increased the expression of BMP2 and TRAP6 in the alveolar bone during orthodontic tooth movement.

Abstract

Satisfaction with the learning process is very important for student learning outcomes. Online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic became a factor that could influence satisfaction with learning. The learning concept is different from face-to-face learning activities, namely the completeness of online learning supporting facilities and infrastructure can affect student learning satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of satisfaction of professional students at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Jember with online clinical activities during the Covid-19 pandemic based on the readiness of professional student facilities and infrastructure. Data was collected by filling out questionnaires and then analyzed descriptively in the form of frequency and proportion. The results of the analysis showed that the majority satisfaction level for each factor was: accessibility = 70.55% satisfied, device ownership = 88.22% satisfied, ease of receiving material = 44.55% satisfied, interactivity = 60.73% satisfied, and accuracy of the method = 64.37% satisfied. It was concluded that dental professional students were satisfied with the online learning process during the Covid-19 pandemicKeywords: online learning; dental profession students; satisfaction; the Covid-19 pandemic ABSTRAK Kepuasan terhadap proses pembelajaran sangat penting artinya bagi hasil belajar mahasiswa. Pembelajaran secara online di masa pandemi Covid-19 menjadi faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kepuasan pelaksanakan pembelajaran. Konsep pembelajaran yang berbeda dari kegiatan pembelajaran tatap muka, yakni kelengkapan sarana dan prasarana penunjang pembelajaran online dapat mempengaruhi kepuasan pembelajaran mahasiswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui tingkat kepuasan mahasiswa profesi Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi  Universitas Jember terhadap aktivitas klinik online selama pandemi Covid-19 berdasarkan kesiapan sarana dan prasarana mahasiswa profesi. Data dikumpulkan melalui pengisian kuesioner lalu dianalisis secara deskriptif berupa frekuensi dan proporsi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kepuasan mayoritas bagi tiap-tiap faktor adalah: aksesibilitas = 70,55% puas, kepemilikan perangkat = 88,22% puas, kemudahan menerima materi = 44,55% puas, interaktivitas = 60,73% puas, dan ketepatan metode = 64,37% puas. Disimpulkan bahwa mahasiswa profesi kedokteran gigi puas terhadap proses pembalajaran online selama masa pandemi Covid-19.Kata kunci: pembelajaran online; mahasiswa profesi kedokteran gigi; kepuasan; pandemi Covid-19

Abstract

Latar belakang: Kecamatan Jelbuk menjadi pusat penanganan stunting di Kabupaten Jember. Penyebab stunting salah satunya adalah rendahnya upaya menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut sehingga menimbulkan penyakit gigi dan mulut dalam jangka panjang misalnya karies yang dapat memengaruhi kondisi gizi. Pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi anak melibatkan interaksi antara anak, orang tua dan dokter gigi. Sikap dan perilaku orang tua dalam pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi berpengaruh signifikan terhadap perilaku anak.  Pemberdayaan keluarga melalui kegiatan penyuluhan digunakan untuk meningkatkan kesehatan gig dan mulut anak. Tujuan: untuk mengetahui perbedaan tingkat pengetahuan kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada walimurid di Kecamatan Jelbuk Kabupaten Jember sebelum dan setelah penyuluhan. Metode: Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah pre-experiment post test dan post test design. Penelitian dilakukan di TK Dharma Wanita dan TK Tunas Bangsa Jelbuk dengan teknik accidental sampling sejumlah wali murid yang hadir pada hari penelitian. Hasil: penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perubahan peningkatan nilai pengetahuan setelah dilakukan penyuluhan kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada wali murid di kedua TK, dengan mean pre test 16.92 ± 2.515 dan mean post test 19.48± 1.358. Hasil uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan p-value 0.00 (<0.05) dapat diartikan adanya perbedaan rata-rata hasil pre test dan post test. Kesimpulan: Ada perbedaan tingkat pengetahuan pada wali murid TK Dharmawanita dan TK Tunas Bangsa setelah penyuluhan.

Abstract

Background: Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis (RAS) is a common disorder characterized by recurrent ulcers limited to the oral mucosa. The etiology of RAS itself is not yet known for certain, but it is suspected that there are several predisposing factors, including hormonal changes, trauma, malnutrition, stress. Purpose: This study aims to determine the description of RAS in patients at the Oral Medicine Department of Dental Hospital University of Jember based on classification, general condition, suspected predisposing factors, and management. Method: This research is a descriptive observational study with a research population of 722 data from the Department of Oral Medicine, Dental Hospital of University of Jember. The number of samples that met the researchers' criteria was 171. Results: RAS patients is more common in women, 64.91% . RAS occurs in 69.60% of patients aged 21-30 years. RAS were mostly found in patients who did not experience symptoms of systemic factors, in 91.22%. The type of RAS that often occurs is the minor type in 78.37%. 68.42% RAS patients had no suspected predisposing factors. Based on RAS management, pharmacological therapy is divided into two parts, topical pharmacological therapy 59.07% and supportive pharmacological therapy 40.93%. Communication, information and education service was done for all 171 RAS patients. Conclusion: Based on the research conducted, that minor RAS is more prevalent in female 21-30 age group, with absence of underlying diseases, and the most frequently therapeutic modality is topical agents.

Abstract

Karies gigi pada anak usia sekolah masih menjadi masalah kesehatan penting dan merupakan masalah kesehatan dengan beban tinggi di seluruh dunia. Karies dan penyakit periodontal menjadi kondisi yang paling sering dijumpai pada berbagai kelompok usia. Upaya promotif dan preventif yang terpadu menjadi langkah penting untuk menekan prevalensi gangguan kesehatan gigi dan mulut. UKGS merupakan suatu program promotif dan preventif sebagai upaya dalam memelihara kesehatan gigi dan mulut di sekolah. Salah satu inovasi pengembangan program ini adalah pembentukan kader dokter gigi kecil. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah membentuk dokter gigi kecil untuk meningkatkan kesehatan gigi dan mulut siswa. Kegiatan dilakukan di SDN Sucopangepok 02 Kecamatan Jelbuk, Kabupaten Jember. Peserta 6 orang berasal dari perwakilan kelas 3, 4 dan 5. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendidikan kesehatan dengan pendekatan participatory learning yang melibatkan penyuluhan, demonstrasi dan praktik langsung. Evaluasi kegiatan melalui pretest dan postest. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai posttest lebih tinggai dibandingkan pretest.
