Abstract

Abstract

Let G be nontrivial and connected graph. A total-coloured path is called as total-rainbow if its edges and internal vertices have distinct colours. For any two vertices u and v of G, a rainbow u−v geodesic in G is a rainbow u−v path of length d(u,v), where d(u,v) is the distance between u and v. The graph G is strongly rainbow connected if there exists a rainbow u−v geodesic for any two vertices u and v in G. The strong rainbow connection number of G, denoted src(G), is the minimum number of colors that are needed in order to make G strong rainbow connected. The result shows for 1 Spl - (Cn) and 3 ≥ n ≥ 10 there exist a coloring where diam(G) = rc(G) = src(G) ≤ m and diam(G) ≤ rc(G) ≤ src(G) ≤ m with m is the number of path 1 Spl - (Cn).

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning is the student’s ability to think logically regarding mathematics problems. The indicators of mathematical reasoning used in this study are presenting statements mathematically, performing mathematical manipulations, compiling the proofs for the truth of solutions, and drawing conclusions from statements presented. This study used qualitative research methods and aims to describe the students' mathematical reasoning abilities for the subject of Three Dimensions, reviewed by their learning independence during Distance Learning. This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Pasuruan class XII MIPA 1 for the 2021/2022 academic year. The instruments used in this study are learning independence questionnaires, mathematical reasoning ability tests, and guides for the interview. The results showed that 21 students can be categorized into Medium Level in terms of their learning independence, and 14 students can be categorized into High Level in terms of their learning independence. Students who have medium learning independence showed medium and low mathematical reasoning abilities. Students are able to solve problems by fulfilling two indicators of mathematical reasoning ability. On the other hand, students with high learning independence showed high mathematical reasoning abilities. Students are able to solve problems by fulfilling all indicators of mathematical reasoning abilities.

Abstract

Students' critical thinking skills in learning are very important to have in the 2013 curriculum. The purpose of the study was to describe the critical thinking skills of students in SMP Negeri 7 Jember class VII J in solving mathematical problems in algebraic material, in terms of reflective and impulsive cognitive styles. This research is a descriptive study that uses a qualitative approach with 4 research subjects from class VII J consisting of 2 reflective subjects and 2 impulsive subjects. Data collection techniques used are tests and interviews. Data analysis techniques were carried out by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. Technique of data validity using triangulation method. The results of the research that have been carried out are that reflective subjects are able to meet all of the FRISCO critical thinking indicators (Focus, Reason, Inference, Situation, Clarity and Overview) in solving critical thinking test questions tend to be thorough, take a long time and the answer is correct. Impulsive subjects were only able to fulfill some of all the FRISCO critical thinking indicators (Focus, Reason, Inference, Situation, Clarity and Overview), namely focus and situation. Impulsive subjects cannot solve critical thinking questions because they do not understand how to solve problems.

Abstract

One of the problems that occur in mathematical subjects was the ability for students to solve problems that need the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) still low. This problem also occurs in high school students (SMA) in Jember. The cause of the problem was that the mathematics teacher has not been skilled in making HOTS problems and has not guided students to solve HOTS problems. To overcome this problem, training activities followed by 118 high School Mathematics teachers held on 02 February 2019 at the center of MGMP (Teachers' discussion group) in Jember. The methods used were sharing information, discussions, and assignments to made HOTS mathematical problems, observation, test, and giving questioner. The results gained were the teacher's knowledge of the HOTS problem increasing from the average score of pretest 62 to the average score of posttest 85. The teacher's ability to make HOTS problems was already in good category, and all participants (100%) actively participate in training activities and give positive responses to the activity. The community services activity need to be continued in the future, because it is very important for improving teachers’ professionalism.

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this research was to analyze the thought process of mildly retarded students in solving square and rectangular contextual problems based on IDEAL problem solving. This type of research was descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subjects were 2 mildly retarded students at SLB-C TPA Negeri 1 Branjangan. The data collection methods used were tests and interviews. The instruments of this research were researchers, test questions, and interview guidelines. The thinking process of the two subjects tends to experience the process of disequilibrium, assimilation, accommodation and equilibrium at the five stages of IDEAL. The subject experienced disequilibrium when the subject could not understand the meaning of the problem because he had never encountered contextual problems before, experienced assimilation when the subject answered questions from the researcher spontaneously, experienced accommodation when the subject could answer questions correctly which were initially wrong, and experienced equilibrium when the subject was able to understand and answer the questions. The results of this study have implications for the world of education, especially schools with mildly retarded students in designing learning that can facilitate problem solving.
