Abstract

The research addresses the challenges, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of cultivating literacy programs at SMP and SMA Al Umanaa Boarding Schools. The main issue identified is the limited student engagement in the School Literacy Movement (SLM) due to time constraints and lack of motivation, while the objective is to investigate the strategies employed by the Al Umanaa Foundation to cultivate a literacy culture. Using a qualitative method, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies, focusing on participants such as school principals, literacy teams, teachers, and library managers. The study reveals that the Al Umanaa Foundation effectively adapts the literacy learning syllabus to the national curriculum, creates a conducive physical environment, and involves the community in literacy activities. Key initiatives include providing reading corners, literacy corners, and libraries, as well as engaging students in competitions and training programs. Despite encountering financial constraints and limited government support, the foundation has successfully utilized community collaborations and innovative funding strategies to sustain its literacy programs. The research concludes that a comprehensive and collaborative approach, integrating physical, social, and academic environments, is essential for cultivating a robust literacy culture. The Al Umanaa Foundation's strategies can serve as a model for other educational institutions aiming to enhance literacy and academic performance.

Abstract

The proliferation of social media platforms has created substantial opportunities for digital content monetisation, fundamentally transforming the digital economy. However, this growth is accompanied by complex ethical challenges, including concerns over content authenticity, user privacy, and adverse psychological and social impacts. This study investigates these ethical dilemmas and evaluates the role of media literacy in fostering responsible digital content management. Employing a qualitative methodology, the research integrates content analysis of diverse social media platforms with in-depth interviews involving active users and media literacy experts. The findings indicate that monetisation practices frequently compromise content integrity and user well-being, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced media literacy. The study concludes that a collaborative approach—engaging platforms, users, and educational institutions—is essential to strengthen media literacy and promote ethical engagement in the digital era.

Abstract

This paper attempts to reveal yoga as an ethics of self-transformation in the ?iv?gama text of Ida Pêdanda Madé Sidêmên (1858–1984). As yoga pervades Balinese textual tradition, adaptation and development of teachings in the Indonesian archipelago show the creativity of the indigenous people. The ?iv?gama was analyzed via textual studies with data categorized to foreground concepts of yoga. The s?rgah (canto) 15, in particular, introduces various forms of yoga and sam?dhi for purifying body and mind. Each section describes how to perform a specific yoga, the attributes of the associated deity, and the benefit that can be reaped by the practice. One finding is that the cosmic function from a yogic perspective in the ?iv?gama text differs from the views of Upani?adic texts. The summaries from this study hope to contribute to efforts to understand the teachings of yoga that are available in Sanskrit-Old Javanese literature.

Abstract

Ethics of leadership has been dominated by western views about ruling a country; hence marginalizing local cultural ethics of leadership in practice. This paper explores the ethics of leadership as contained in the Balinese text ?iv?gama composed by Ida Pedanda Madé Sidêmên (1858–1984) and its relevance for the modern era. Data was taken from lontar palm-leaf manuscripts and analyzed in a qualitative way focusing on the conception of nava natya (nine ethical principles) of leadership. Also included was the pañca visaya, five external objects and the corresponding senses, which can cause harm when facing enemies. In the past, these ethical principles were used as the basis upon which the royal system of governance was practiced for the welfare of all. This concept is still relevant nowadays as long as service is considered to be a human virtue. The research results thus offer a contribution to the study of leadership ethics in the Old Javanese tradition.

Abstract

The high demands of work in the hospitality industry can be a factor influencing the job satisfaction of training participants. The ability to maintain a balance between work and personal life and to manage work-related fatigue are important aspects in creating a positive training experience. Although many studies on job satisfaction have been conducted, research specifically addressing the conditions of hotel training participants remains limited. This research examines how work-life balance and exhaustion affect Conrad Bali trainees' job satisfaction. A total of 130 trainees were selected as respondents using proportional stratified random sampling in this quantitative study. IBM SPSS Statistics 25 was used to analyze structured questionnaire data using multiple linear regression. The study found that work-life balance positively impacts job satisfaction (β = 0.438; p < 0.001), whereas work exhaustion negatively impacts it (β = -0.494; p < 0.001). These two factors explain 70.2% of work satisfaction variance across training participants (R² = 0.702). Work-life balance and tiredness reduction are needed to boost intern satisfaction, according to these studies. The research findings can serve as a basis for hotel management to improve the well-being of interns and the quality of their training experience.
