Abstract

Abstract

A small diesel engine is a machine that has high efficiency but causes a high level of pollution. The most widely used fuel so far is fossil energy which is unrenewable energy. The fruit of the Calophyllum inophyllum plant has great potential to be developed as alternative energy for small diesel engines. In this study, the test fuel used was D100, B100, E5, E10, and E15. The small engine diesel used TG-R180 Diesel with a compression ratio of 20:1 at engine turns 1500, 1800, 2100, and 2400 rpm, and the braking load at a constant prony disc brake is 1,5 kg/cm2. The result of the study using E10 fuel can improve engine performance and can reduce the opacity of the exhaust gas. The highest power in the D100 fuel at 2100 rpm is 8,06 PS. The highest thermal efficiency of E10 fuel is 50,29%. The use of Calophyllum inophyllum biodiesel (B100) can reduce exhaust gas opacity in small diesel engines when compared to the use of D100. E10 fuel has the lowest exhaust gas opacity rate of 4,1%.

Abstract

This research was conducted to improve engine performance with a mixture of ethanol and gasoline, because the mixture of ethanol and gasoline fuel causes the value of the flash point and evaporation of fuel heat to be higher. To overcome this, the air entering the combustion chamber is carried out by being heated to 26°C (standard), 30°C, 40°C and 50°C, the fuel used is the E20 with engine revolutions of 2000 to 8000 revolutions per minute. The results showed that the highest torque of E20 fuel at 30°C with a value of 9.004 Nm increased by 0.27%. At the highest power, it is located at 30°C with a power of 5.99 kW 0.5%. For the lowest consumption in the 2000 round, it was found in the 30°C temperature treatment with a value of 1.4 Kg / Hp.Hour and for exhaust gas emissions the lowest hydro carbon value was found in the 30°C temperature treatment while the lowest value of carbon monoxide was found at the 50°C temperature treatment. These results show that the air heating treatment can improve engine performance.

Abstract

The increasing demand for energy and the depletion of oil reserves are forcing humans to seek alternative energy sources. Therefore, the need for alternative electrical energy sources arises, namely, by utilizing solar panels. The importance of understanding how solar panels work and their maintenance becomes a determining factor in ensuring the optimal performance of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems. Lack of knowledge and awareness about maintenance can result in decreased efficiency and lifespan of solar panels. Users of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems are also expected to understand its maintenance procedures. Thus, the implementation of this community service activity aims to educate the public and enable them to maintain Solar Cells as Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems. This activity is carried out by providing direct training on PV system maintenance, both theoretically and practically. The impact of this community service activity is that the community can understand and maintain Solar Cells as Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems, as evidenced by the evaluation results where the understanding of the training participants falls into the category of very knowledgeable, which is 80.88%.

Abstract

Spray characteristics have an important role in improving the quality of combustion in compression engines. This study analyzes the effect of ambient temperature on spray characteristics including spray tip penetration, spray angle and velocity of spray. The research method uses an experimental method with ambient temperature variations of 60oC, 80oC, 100oC controlled using a thermocouple and an ambient pressure of 0.3 MPa. the composition of the fuel uses diesel (diesel 100%), B30 (30% biodiesel), B100 (100% biodiesel). Image recording using camera speed 480 fms. Based on the experimental results, the ambient temperature increases the spray angle and B100 at all ambient temperatures has a spray tip penetration, velocity of spray is lower.

Abstract

The KMHE competition which focuses on optimizing energy in developing cars is held as a form of contribution to overcoming the problem of dwindling energy sources. To get a cell phone with low energy consumption, one alternative is to design a cell phone as often as possible. This research examines the effectiveness of topology optimization methods in making lightweight component designs while maintaining the ability to accept loads when applied. The components that are being optimized are the support brackets on the main shaft steering of Car TITEN EV-2 which are produced using additive manufacturing with PLA+ materials. The load borne by the design is the load when the car is braking and turning. Two Topology Optimization experimental methods were carried out based on the loading arrangement. The first method is carried out by combining two topological optimization results based on loading to produce the final design. The second method is carried out by applying the two loadings simultaneously to the TO process. As a result, the second TO method showed very good results compared to the first method and was redesigned to produce a new design that was ready for use. The results of the new design have a mass of 34.25% lower than the original design. The FEA simulation results also show the results of increasing design strength after topology optimization. The maximum von-mises voltage drop of the new design in the case of braking, turning and combined loading (braking and turning) respectively is 12.56 MPa, 11.64 MPa and 17.99 MPa compared to the original design which is 30.16 MPa, 26.19 MPa and 51.9 MPa.
