Women and girls experiencing FGM in many developing countries, including Tanzania and Nigeria. The aim of this study is to investigate the problems that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, which contributed to the high rates of FGM in Tanzania and Nigeria. This study uses a qualitative method to see the prevalence of FGM in both countries which has increased since the COVID-19 pandemic. This study is supported by the Patriarchal theory of Sylvia Walby, which explains why men try to oppress and control women as figures who dominate society. The study results show that both Nigeria and Tanzania have seen an increase in FGM amid COVID-19, with school closures placing teenage girls at the highest risk of FGM. The study concludes that the government, private institutions, and other development stakeholders should work together to find solutions to assist communities and families in ending FGM. If these efforts are implemented, then the 2030 sustainable development agenda can become a reality in ending FGM in Nigeria and Tanzania.

This is reflected in the way they are active in the organization and totality in carrying out the work program. Furthermore, the special behavior was carried out to gain the prestige and pride of bhayangkari women. Abstract

AbstractThe social life of waria is often marked by challenges and discrimination from the surrounding community. In social spaces, the existence of waria is still difficult to accept by some communities, especially in conservative environments. This often leads to difficulties in finding employment and accessing adequate healthcare services. As a result, some waria are forced to become sex workers who are vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. Nevertheless, there are also waria communities that actively advocate for their rights and form supportive social networks. This article is the result of qualitative research, using a case study approach. The findings of this study indicate that the social life of waria in the Gowongan Lor Muslim community still faces challenges. Their presence still generates both support and opposition, largely due to their gender identity and activities that are considered deviant, such as engaging in sex work and being vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. Keywords: Social life, waria, sex worker, HIV/AIDS.
