Abstract

Singgi' passikola in Kada Tomina's discourse as one of the cultural assets contains messages that are meaningful to the Toraja people. This study used a qualitative approach to analyze the meaning of singgi' passikola utterances for the Toraja people. The research data was speech units in passikola singgi' obtained through interviews and speech recordings from Tomina. The research findings showed that the utterances of singgi passikola in the Kada Tomina discourse contain message meanings that have character values for Toraja people struggling to seek knowledge and who have completed their education. The message's meaning included enthusiasm in studying and working, being wise, adhering to God's teachings, having social concern, being humble, and having a stance. Therefore, singgi' passikola, as a part of cultural property, was also a vehicle for conveying educational messages to the Toraja people. The results of this study have significance for the preservation of the local culture of the Toraja people. In addition, the findings of this study can be a reference in developing the theory and discussion for further research. In the education context, these findings can be used as material for consideration in compiling a local content curriculum by utilizing local wisdom as a learning resource.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in semester 1 student learning outcomes of the UKI Toraja Management study program in the Indonesian language course through the application of the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) Cooperative Learning Model. The sample of this research is 25 students. Data collection techniques using observation and learning achievement tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques to describe the conditions of each variable. The results showed that the ability of lecturers to manage learning with an average score of 4.57 was in the very good category, student activity during the learning process was classified as active with an average percentage of 74.5% which was in the active category, and student learning outcomes after being taught using the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) cooperative learning model is classified as high with an average of 80.35. This shows that applying the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) cooperative learning model can improve student learning outcomes in semester 1 of the UKI Toraja management study program in the Indonesian Language Course.

Abstract

Much research explained that environmental-based learning contributes significantly to learning quality, but many teachers have not implemented it in the learning process yet. Therefore, this study aimed to describe what teachers need in the implementation of environmental-based learning in the learning process in elementary schools. This study used a quantitative and qualitative design that involved 16 teachers from four elementary schools as research participants. The research data, in the form of nominal data, was collected through a questionnaire, document analysis, and checklist, while verbal data about the problem in implementing environmental-based learning by interview. Nominal data were analyzed by simple statistical analysis techniques, while verbal data was analyzed by following the steps: reduction, classification, categorization, presentation, interpretation, and conclusion. The findings showed that in implementing environmental-based learning, teachers faced many problems caused by internal and external factors, which include the lack of teachers' experience, unavailable sources of information and examples as references, media and facilities available in schools, and policy factors. Teachers needed technical guidelines, workshops/training, and learning media of the learning model to improve their learning. These findings are significant as a basis for policy-making in increasing the learning quality. In addition, these findings lead to an analysis of school needs in developing learning quality.

Abstract

The study outlined in this article aimed to describe the language used in the advertisements discourse in the online daily news. This study analyzed the persuasive language used in the business advertorial which includes the choice of language forms and persuasion techniques in advertorial discourses that have persuasive power. The study was designed using a qualitative approach. The data source was the business advertorials text contained in online news media. Data of the study is in the form of words and sentences that are considered to have persuasive power in influencing the targeted audience. By applying content analysis, this study produced findings on language characteristics and persuasive techniques found in business advertorial discourses. The persuasive language forms in the advertorial discourses were represented in the choice of words and expressions. The persuasive words illustrated profits, self-image, heart responses. The style of words was hyperbolic, metaphorical, and language prestige. The expressions in the advertorial discourses have the meaning of suggestions for prospective customers, demeaning other products, emphasizing self-confidence, emphasizing product competition, giving evidence of product trust, and expressions to invite action. The words and expressions were chosen according to the context and product advertised to emphasize the emotional meaning of the ad reader. The persuasion techniques were used to achieve a number of changes, such as changing the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of the readers.

Abstract

The Listening Course is one of the mandatory courses in the Language and Literature Education Study Program in university. This course is crucial as listening is an essential language skill that is frequently used in daily life. This study examines the needs of students in learning listening at Universitas Kristen Indonesia Toraja. The study employs a mixed-method design, using survey and interview techniques on 33 students of the Indonesia Language and Literature Education Study Program in UKI Toraja who take the Listening Course. The results indicate that the students require a more engaging and innovative learning process in order to be interested and comprehend the material of the Listening Course. Therefore, the needs of students in the Listening Course instruction include improvement or revision of the learning material, learning media, learning methods, and relevant teaching materials that are suitable for current students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form and pragmatic meaning of Simune Tallang's speech in Rambu Solo' ceremony for Toraja people by using pragmatic approach. This type of research uses qualitative research. The source of data in this research is sourced from sources who are involved in the world of tomina who really understand the simuane tallang speech of the Toraja people. In collecting data, the techniques used are interview techniques, recording techniques, note-taking techniques and documentation techniques. The results of this study indicate that the form and pragmatic meaning of simuane tallang speech at the rambu solo' traditional ceremony for the Toraja people are speeches whose forms are intertwined and have the same meaning in the form of gratitude, advice, and hope.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bentuk Referensi persona dalam novel Lilin karya Saniyyah Putri Salsabila Said. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu teks novel Lilin karya Saniyyah Putri Salsabila Said. Populasi penelitian ini yaitu semua referensi persona yang digunakan dalam Novel “Lilin” karya Saniyyah Putri Salsabila Said. Sedangkan sampel pada penelitian ini berjumlah 56 referensi persona dalam novel Lilin Karya Saniyyah Putri Salsabila Said. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik baca dan teknik catat. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) mengidentifikasi bentuk referensi persona dalam novel “Lilin” karya Saniyyah Putri Salsabila Said (2) mengklasifikasi bentuk referensi persona dalam novel “Lilin” karya Saniyyah Putri Salsabila Said (3) menganalisis bentuk referensi persona dalam novel “Lilin” karya Saniyyah Putri Salsabila Said. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk referensi persona yang digunakan dalam novel “Lilin” karya Saniyyah Putri Salsabila Said yaitu (1) persona pertama saya, aku, kami dan kita (2) persona kedua kamu, anda dan kalian (3) persona ketiga dia, ia dan mereka.

Abstract

Penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan majas hiperbola pada katalog oriflame dan mendeskripsikan makna dari kata-kata hiperbola pada katalog oriflame. Adapun metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah majas hiperbola dan sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah katalog oriflame edisi bulan Maret-April tahun 2020. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu teknik baca dan teknik catat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan dari bagaimana penggunaan dan makna majas hiperbola pada katalog oriflame dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan majas hiperbola pada katalog oriflame: melebih-lebihkan suatu produk, dan mempengaruhi konsumen sedangkan makna majas hiperbola pada katalog oriflame, yaitu : menegaskan mengenai bahan yang digunakan, menekankan pada kualitas produk, menyatakan keramahan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses interaksi belajar mengajar melalui pendekatan psikolinguistik siswa kelas VII SMPN 5 Tanete. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif. Sumber data bersumber dari penelitian yang diperoleh dengan cara mewawancarai guru bahasa Indonesia kelas VII. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi,teknik wawancara dan teknik dokumentasi. Hal ini dimaksudkan agar proses pendekata psikolinguistik dapat diaplikasikan melalui pola interaksi siswa dengan guru di kelas. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa proses interkasi siswa kelas VII SMPN 5 Tanete pada dasarnya berjalan dengan lancar dan terbilang cukup aktif walaupun di dalam proses interkasi tersebut ditemukan beberapa kesalahan dilihat dari segi penguasaan bahasa yang masih terbilang rendah karena kurangnya pemahaman siswa terhadap kaidah-kaidah bahasa Indonesia, kemudian dilihat dari mental (psikologi) pserta didik cukup berani dan bertanggung jawab terhadap apa yang meraka ucapkan terbukti dengan cara mereka menjawab cepat dan tegas tanpa ada rasa takut dan cemas walaupun apa yang di sampaikan oleh mereka kurang tepat tetapi mereka mampu mengeliminasi perasaan cemas tersebut.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan Nilai-nilai Kearifan Lokal dalam Teka-teki Karume Sastra Lisan Toraja. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu teks buku Karume-rumena Toraya karya Junus Bunga Lebang. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik baca, teknik catat dilakukan untuk mencatat data hasil temuan setelah proses membaca, teknik wawancara dilakukan dengan mengajukan beberapa pertanyaan dengan tujuan untuk mendapatkan data, dan teknik rekam dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat/media.Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam karume terdapat nilai-nilai Diantaranya, 1) Nilai sosial seperti, kejujuran, rela berkorban, gotong royong, kebersamaan dan pantang menyerah. 2) Nilai pendidikan yaitu berbagi dan pantang menyerah. 3) Nilai moral yaitu saling menghargai dan tulus hati. 4) Nilai estetika yaitu kebersamaan dalam menata lingkungan sosial. Saran dalam penelitian agar peneliti selanjutnya lebih mendalami sastra lisan Toraja dari segi ilmu disiplin ilmu lainnya.
