Abstract

The era of digitalization opens spaces for anyone to express themselves, primarily through virtual spaces such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. The implication is that cultural and moral degradation is caused by foreign cultural intervention through content uploaded on social media, especially regarding impoliteness in language. Social media has several forms of language impoliteness, such as swearing, threats, insults, and hoax news. This form of language impoliteness in social media leads to defamation and hate speech. Defamation and hate speech violate Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE). The problem of defamation and hate speech is one of the vital national issues that must be resolved. Therefore, as a lecturer responsible for the tri dharma of higher education, the authors plan to conduct community service titled "The Counseling of Language Politeness at SMA Agape West Halmahera".

Abstract

The people of North Maluku Province speak Ternate Malay, or North Maluku Malay language, as a medium for interethnic communication. This language is a dialect which is an archipelagic variant of the Malay language. Ternate Malay language underwent several phonological, grammatical, and lexical changes as it developed. The purpose of this Phonological Variations of Ternate Malay language study is to characterize the differences in phonological features between Ternate Malay and Standard Malay language (Indonesian). Both synchronic and diachronic research are conducted. The research findings synchronously demonstrate that MSt and MT have distinct linguistic properties. There is no long vowel in MSt, yet there is no [ʙ] sound in MT. Other than that, there are vowel variations and sounds that match both vowels and consonants. Diachronic studies reveal that substitution is a type of cooperative innovation. Assimilation, syncope, apocope, metathesis, prosthesis, lowering of high vowels, and monophthongization are examples of irregular innovations in MSt and MT. Given that MSt continues to use archaic forms, it may be concluded that whereas MT is an innovative dialect, MSt is a conservative dialect based on the retention and innovation forms shown above.

Data were analyzed morphophonemically using structural theory to find out the forms of nouns in Ternate and the process of their formation The main aim of this research is to find rules for noun formation, and patterns in the Ternate language. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative with observation and interview data collection techniques as well as literature study as data sources. Meanwhile, data analysis was carried out through the identification and classification stages as well as analysis of the formation process as nouns. In conclusion that nouns are formed from verb and adjective classes by repeating and adding phonemes; these nouns have the meanings of actor, tool, place/locative, possession, rather, and abstract.

Abstract
