Abstract

Dadi Wong (Being a successful person) has been socialized through gender stereotypes in Javanese communities. The thought has also been contested with the opposite concept, namely Durung Tutug (Being an unsuccessful person). One can be included in either classification provided that he or she meets the criteria which are manifested in gender stereotypes. This article aims at identifying gender stereotypes of a Javanese wife character named Santi in film Mudik (2020). This article is analyzed using film narratology along with gender performativity and power relations. The elements, such as kernel and satellites, which show gender stereotypes of a Javanese wife character, Santi, were studied. The results present that Santi is represented as a wife who can not fulfill the criteria of Dadi Wong so that she is labelled Durung Tutug due to not having an intact family following her husbands passing. However, she negotiates it by getting married again with another man to meet the condition of Dadi Wong in Javanese society.  Keywords: film; gender stereotypes; Javanese wife; narratology.

Abstract

This article discusses the significance of indie music fandom, particularly their involvement in collecting physical music releases, namely vinyl records, cassettes, and CDs uploaded to Instagram social media. This study aims to examine how the identity of indie music fandom is formed on social media and the motivations for uploading a collection of physical music releases. This research is a qualitative netnographic study supported by observing the content of fandom accounts, conducting interviews, and employing Content Analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that past experiences, personality, and pride motivate indie music fandom to construct an identity through the collection and uploading of physical music releases on Instagram.

Abstract

This research is entitled Historical Analysis of Cultural Space of Saleh Danasasmita (1973-1986). This analysis produces a picture of Saleh Danasasmita's living environment from an internal and external point of view. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that influence Saleh Danasasmita's thinking, especially from the socio-cultural environment and educational environment as Saleh Danasasmita's cultural space. This research will also reveal the ideas of Saleh Danasasmita about Sundanese culture. This research uses historical research methods consisting of heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Saleh Danasasmita is a figure from Sunda and has an interest in analyzing Sundanese history and culture. His closeness with other Sundanese researchers led to his interest in focusing on research on Sundanese history, especially during the Sundanese kingdom. His ideas and analysis of Sundanese involve his basic knowledge as a Sundanese along with other diverse sources. The tendency of his thinking was to preserve Sundanese values that had existed since the time of the kingdom.Penelitian ini berjudul Analisis Historis Ruang Budaya Saleh Danasasmita (1973-1986). Analisis ini menghasilkan gambaran mengenai lingkungan kehidupan Saleh Danasasmita dari sudut pandang internal dan eksternal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pemikiran Saleh Danasasmita terutama dari lingkungan sosial budaya dan lingkungan pendidikan sebagai ruang budaya Saleh Danasasmita. Penelitian ini juga akan mengungkap gagasan dari Saleh Danasasmita mengenai kebudayaan Sunda. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah yang terdiri dari heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Saleh Danasasmita merupakan tokoh yang berasal dari Sunda dan mempunyai ketertarikan untuk menganalisis sejarah dan budaya Sunda. Kedekatannya dengan peneliti Sunda lainnya menimbulkan ketertarikannya untuk fokus dalam penelitian mengenai sejarah Sunda khususnya masa kerajaan Sunda. Gagasan dan analisis dari kesundaannya melibatkan pengetahuan dasarnya sebagai orang Sunda disertai sumber-sumber lainnya yang beragam. Tendensi dari pemikirannya adalah untuk melestarikan nilai-nilai Sunda yang telah ada sejak masa kerajaan.
