Abstract

The purpose of this study were to identify factors that affect the demand forchicken eggs and to find out the correlation of factors that affect consumer behavior inpurchasing chicken eggs in Tebing Tinggi City. The research used primary data obtainedfrom questionnaires or interviews. The research method was multiple linear regressionmethods, spearman rank correlation and contingency correlation.The results showed that the price of chicken eggs and the income had real effect to thedemand for chicken eggs in the area of research. The result of spearman rank correlation andthe contingency correlation showed that there was a real correlation between the incomewith a consumer behavior in purchasing chicken eggs, while the age, employment, andnumber of consumer dependents, did not show real correlation with consumer behavior inpurchasing chicken eggs.

Abstract

Curd is a traditional fermented buffalo milk from West Sumatra.Fermentation in curd making occurs spontaneously, meaning thatfermentation occurs naturally without the addition of a starter. This studyaims to determine the nutritional content of cow milk curd with the additionof avocado extract (Persea americana, Mill) various levels using Gombongbamboo (Gigantochloa verticilata).This research was conducted at the Analogy and Physiology Laboratory ofthe Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra in November 2018-December 2018. The design used in this study was a completelyrandomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Theparameters analyzed were Protein, Fat, and pH. The results showed thatcow milk curd with the addition of avocado (Persea americana, Mill)extract various levels using Gombong bamboo (Gigantochloa verticilata)significantly had different effects on the nutritional value of protein, fat andpH. From the nutritional value studied, the highest protein: P1 7.57% withthe addition of avocado fruit extract (Persea americana, Mill) 6%, fataverage: P1 7.08% with the addition of avocado fruit extract (Perseaamericana, Mill) 6%, pH: P4 5.30% with the addition of avocado fruitextract (Persea americana, Mill) 24%.

Abstract

High animal production especially meat is still need to fulfilled as demand is high.This research was conducted to analyze the availability of resources in Serdang BedagaiRegency in the context of cattle developing. The study was conducted from September 2017to January 2018. This study used a survey method, the first stage of stratification (stratifiedsampling) to the sub-districts in Serdang Bedagai Regency, the second stage took purposivesampling in three sub-districts namely Dolok Masihul District, Dolok Merawan and SeiRampah, the third stage was purposively sampling of 10 farmers from each of the subdistricts. The results of this study that livestock resources in Serdang Regency Bedagai stillhave great potential in developing beef cattle business seen from natural resources, humanresources, capital and technology.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the characteristics of farmers, agents and retailers ofkampung chicken marketing, and kampung chicken marketing channels, marketing margins,farmer share, profit ratio, and cost of kampung chicken, as well as analysed the marketingefficiency of kampung chicken in Binjai City. This research was conducted in June 2018 -August 2018. The method used in data collection by using the Jenuh sampling (sensus), whilethe sample of breeders and other marketing institutions with search method. Data collection wascarried out using interview questionnaire techniques.Data analysis included marketing costs, marketing margins, farmer share and cost benefit ratioof each marketing channel. The results of this study indicate that there are two marketingchannels. The marketing margin on channel II shows margin Rp. 15.157,-. the farmer’s inchannel I 76.19% and ratio of profit Rp. 2.4 per kg on channel II. The marketing channel forkampung chicken in the Traditional Market of Binjai City is efficient.

Abstract

The main problem with cocoa pod is the high crude fiber content and lowcrude protein. A treatment needed to change the nutritional content, one of which isfermentation. In this study, fermentation used Indigenous microorganisms which wereYL (MOIYL). This research lasted for 3 months which was carried out from July toSeptember 2018 at the Laboratory of Animal Production and the Laboratory of AnimalNutrition Sciences at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra. Theresearch design used was Factorial 4 x 4 Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with 3replications where factor 1 was the various levels of inoculum of Indigenous YL(MOIYL) and factor 2 was the length of fermentation (incubation) with measuredparameters of crude protein, crude fiber, crude fat, and ash content using proximateanalysis.The results showed that cocoa pod fermentation using Indigenous YL (MOIYL)microorganisms could improve the quality of nutrient content including the highestwater content with a dose of 3% with a 7 day fermentation of 11.75% and the lowestwithout Moiyl with 21 days fermentation time of 10.02%. highest crude protein with 5%dose with 7 days fermentation of 11.89% and the lowest without Moiyl with 28 daysfermentation of 7.18%, highest crude fat at 5% with 7 days fermentation at 1.33% andthe lowest without Moiyl with 28 days fermentation time is 1.22%, while the highestcrude fiber is 5% with 7 days fermentation of 21.3% and the lowest is 5% with 28 daysfermentation of 23.93%, the highest dry matter is 3% with 7 days fermentation timeequal to 88.24% and the lowest without Moiyl with 7 days long 89.95%, highest ashcontent with d osis 1% with a 7 day fermentation time of 9.52% and the lowest ashcontent without Moiyl with a 7 day fermentation time of 11.17%. The results of thisstudy concluded that cocoa pod fermentation using 5% Indigenous YL (MOIYL)microorganisms and 7 days fermentation time could increase water content, crudeprotein, and crude fat, while crude fiber, dry matter, and ash content decreased.

Abstract

Indigofera zollingeriana as animal feed contain high protein and a goodalternative source of feed for livestok. In North Sumatera Province, now adaysIndigofera has been introduced to livestockers. This study aims to determine theeffect of scarification by soaking KNO3 (potassium nitrate) on seed germination andearly growth of Indigofera zollingeriana. This research was carried out at AnimalProduction Laboratory; Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture,University of North Sumatra Jl. A. Sofyan No. 3 Medan, which began from November2018 to January 2019. The design used was a factorial completely randomized design(RAL) with 12 combination factors, each of which contained 3 replications where eachreplication contained 15 seeds of Indigofera zollingeriana. The treatment consisted of2 factors, namely the K factor = KNO3 concentration, K0 = control, K1 = 4 g / l, K2 =8 g / l, K3 = 12 g / l repeatedly, and L factor = soaking time, L1 = 4 hours, L2 = 8hours, L3 = 12 hours .The results showed that the administration of KNO3 and soaking time on Indigoferazollingeriana seeds had a significant effect on the percentage of sprouts, sprout height,and growing power. The conclusion of the use of KNO3 with levels of 4 grams and 8grams has a positive impact on the percentage of germination and height of indigoferazollingeriana and the duration of 12 hours immersion in the seeds of indigoferazollingeriana also gives a positive effect on the percentage of sprouts and sproutheight, and the best percentage of growth is on the use of 8 grams of KNO3 with 8hours of soaking time.

Abstract

Cocoa pod is one of the cocoa processing wastes which can be used as animal feed.The study aims to find the use of cocoa pod which fermented by bioactivator (MOIYL) in feedon performance and IOFC of male local sheep. The research was conducted at Pak Didit's farmJl. Bunga Rinte, Simpang Selayang, Medan, in October - December 2018 using completelyrandomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The experiment used 20 ofmale local sheep weaning with initial body weight of 12.65 ± 1 kg. The treatment such as P0(80% field grass + 20% concentrate), P1 (60% field grass + 20% fermented cocoa pod + 20%concentrate), P2 (40% field grass + 40% fermented cocoa pod + 20% concentrate), P3 (20%field grass + 60% fermented cocoa pod + 20% concentrate), P4 (80% fermented cocoa pod +concentrate 20%). The observed of are feeds consumption, average daily gain, feed conversionratio (FCR), and income over feed cost (IOFC).The results of this research indicated that utilization of fermented cocoa pod in feed improvedthe performance of male local sheep with the average consumption of sheep feed (g/head/day):421.62; 422.60; 524.43; 452.83 and 368.56, average daily gain (g/head/day): 59.95; 60.75;84.19; 67.76 and 40.57, and ration conversion: 7.06; 7.17; 6.43; 6.68 and 9.11 and averageIncome Over Feed Cost (IOFC):141.123,8; 142.837,9; 201.301,0; 159.568,4 and 89.273,7. Theconclusion of this study is that the use of cacao pods fermented with 5% MOIYL in ration ofmale local weaning can be given to the level of 40%.

Abstract

Cassava peel was the waste of processing cassava which is promising enough to be used as alternative animal feed. However, cassava peel has a fairly low nutrient content. Fermentation was one of the way to increase the quality of cassava peel. Fermentation used in this research utilized Indigenous Microorganisms (IMO) with the main substance was the cassava peel itself. This research lasted for 3 months started from December 2018 to February 2019 at the Laboratory of Microbiology and Laboratory of Feed Processing Science and Technology Department of Animal Science Faculty of Agriculture University of Sumatera Utara and Laboratory of Agrichemists and Natural Resources at the Industrial Research and Standardization Office of Medan. This research was designed using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial pattern of 3 x 3 with 3 replications, as factor I was the dose of Indigenous Microorganisms (IMO) and factor II was the duration of fermentation. The parameters measured were water content/dry matter, crude fat, crude protein, crude fibre, ash, and Non Nitrogen Free Extract (NNFE) using proximate analysis. The results showed that fermentation of cassava peel using Indigenous Microorganisms (IMO) with the variation of Indigenous Microorganisms (IMO) dose and duration of fermentation give effects, that were increased water content, crude protein, and Non Nitrogen Free Extract (NNFE) and decreased dry ingredient, crude fat, crude fibre, and ash content.

Abstract

This study aims to determine effects of utilization of Bio-Gas Slurry With buffalo Feces Input And water hyacinth with Various Dosage MOD (Microorganisme Decomposer) on Productivity of Bauhinia Purpurea. Research conducted at the field experimental, Samosir Sumatra Utara in April-November 2017. The design used in the study was split plot design with four replications. First factor (M): dosage decomposer, M1= 1 liters/150 kg and M2= 2 liters/150 kg. Second factor (P): dosage was fertilizier of Bio-Gas Slurry With buffalo Feces Input And water hyacinth(ton/ha/year), P0=0, P1=20, P2=40. The variable were studied fresh weight production, dry weight production, plant height and number of leaves. The results showed that dosage decomposer and dosage of fertilizer Bio-Gas Slurry significantly affect plant height, fresh weight production, dry weight production, and number of leaves Bauhinia Purpurea. The utilization of Bio-Gas With buffalo Feces Input And water hyacinth with Various Dosage MOD affect fresh weight production, dry weight production, plant height and number of leaves. It is concluded that dosage 2 liter/150 kg and application 40 ton/ha/year show higher on production of Bauhinia Purpurea.

Abstract

RAYSWE DUMARIS SIHOMBING, 2018: ''Reproductive Behavior and Morphology in Horses (Equus Caballus) Males in North Tapanuli District ''. Guided by HAMDAN and TRI HESTI WAHYUNI. This study aimed to see reproduction and morphological performance of the stallion in North Tapanuli Regency. This research was conducted in North Tapanuli regency, Silait-lait Village, Hutajulu Village and Siaro Village and Superior Breeding Cattle Hall and Animal Feed (BPTU-HPT) from June to August 2017. The analysis used in this research is quantitative data analysis which includes average, standard deviation and coefficient of diversity.The variable that distinguishes the horse is the part of reproduction which is divided into two, namely the exterior, which includes the diameter of the scrotum and the interior includes the quality of sperm that are tested miscroscopically and macroscopically. Macroscopic tests include volume measurement, viscosity, color, pH. Microscopic tests of motility, concentration, and abnormality. Morphology, including head length, head width, neck length, shoulder height, chest circumference, chest depth, body length, hip width, hip height.The results showed that stallion in North Tapanuli Regency had good sperm quality with gray white color, low concentration level, pH 6.67, motility 80%, concentration 13,76 x 10 ^ 7ml / ejakulat, and abnormality 16, 6% and morphological appearance have mean, standard deviation and high diversity coefficient with head length 62,30 cm, shoulder height 158,84 cm, chest circumference 174,26 cm, chest depth 78,20 cm, body length 169,86 cm , hip height 167.12 cm and hip width 40.01 cm. In conclusion of this study, the morphology and reproduction of horses in North Tapanuli Regency has good weight and posture and good sperm quality used as males in developing horse cattle.
