Abstract

The Application of Solid and Liquid Organic Fertilizer of Banana Kepok Bark on the Growth andYield of Mustard (Brassica juncea L.). The research aimed to know differences in growth responseand yield of mustard in various dose of solid and liquid organic fertilizer from banana kepok barkand the interaction of both factors. The research was carried out in the home screen, Agriculture’sFaculty of North Sumatera University from August to Oktober 2013. The experiment design wasFactorial Randomized Block design (FRB) with two factors and three replications. The first factorwas the solid organic fertilizer dose consist of four levels are 0 , 30 , 60 and 90 g/plant. The secondfactor was a liquid organic fertilizer dose are 0 , 25 , 45 and 65 ml/plant/application. The resultsshowed that the solid organic fertilizer give significant effect on lower the plant height 15 daysafter transplanting and the total of leaf area on 30 days after transplanting. The liquid organicfertilizer significant effect on lower plant height 11 , 19 , 23 , and 27 days after transplanting, dryweight of plant on 30 days after transplanting, the plant yield per sample and yield per plot on 40days after transplanting. The interaction of both significantly on parameter plant height 7 days aftertransplanting and the best result treatment is solid organic fertilizer 30 g/plant without liquidorganic fertilizer.Keywords: Solid Organic, Mustard, Bark of Banana

Abstract

To study the growth and yield of soybean under of oilpalm age four years at PTPN III KebunRambutan, a research has been done in February to May 2012. The design used was random plotdesign with two treatment. The first factor are varieties (Anjasmoro and Nanti) and the secondfactor are planting system (Square and Hexagonal planting system).The result showed that varietieshas significant effect of the plants length at 3, 4, 5, and 6 weeks after planting (WAP), amount ofleafs, age of flowering, weight of dry branches, production per plot, and amount of 100 seeds. Theplanting system has only influence of amount of 100 seeds. There was no interaction between thetwo treatments that was observed for all parameters.Keywords: soybean, planting system, and variety.

Abstract

One of the factors that determine the quality of cocoa seedlings are growing medium that has achemical and physical fertility, in order to obtain a good and healthy seeds for furthergrowth.Growing media fertility can be improved or enhanced with inorganic or organic fertilizer,such as Rabbit manure, which is one type of solid waste rabbit manure and NPK fertilizer, isexpected to increase the growth of cocoa seedling. This research had been conducted atexperimental field of Fakultas Pertanian USU in July 2013 until September 2013, using factorialrandomized block design with two factor, i.e. dose of rabbit manure (0, 50, 100, and 150 gram perpolybag) and dose of NPK fertilizer (0 ,4, 8, and 12 gram per polybag). Parameter observed wereplant height, stem diameter, number of leaf, summarize of leaf area, fresh weight of shoot, freshweight of root, dry weight ofshoot and dry weight of root. The result showed response of rabbitmanure on cocoa seed significantlyincrease plant height, total of leaf area, and dry shoot weight.The best results from this experimental were obtained in the treatment of rabbit manure at 150g/polybag.________________________________________________________________________________Keywords: Rabbit manure, NPK Fertilizer, Cocoa Seedling

Abstract

This study aims to study the influence of animal urine and cutting of seed to support the seedlinggermination and growth of biwa. This research was conducted at Experiment Center of Fruit inBerastagi, Karo at April to July 2013. This research applies Randomized block design factorial,first factor: application of animal urine concentration in 25% and 50% by soaking during 15minutes and 30 minutes. Second factor: scarification techniques, P0=without cutting and P1=withcutting. The observation component consist of germination power, germination percentage,germination age, length of plant, number of leaves, leaf total area and root volume. The result ofresearch indicates that the soaking of biwa seed into animal urine and cutting has insignificantinfluence to the acceleration of seedling germination and growth. The treatment of soaking onanimal urine has a significant influence to the accelerate of seedling germination and growth onroot volume, age when germination, number of leave. The seed cutting of biwa has a significantinfluence to the accelerate of seedling germination and growth that indicated by root volume, andpercentage of germination. The best results showed that biwa seed was soaking in 50% cow urineconcentration for 30 minutes.Keywords: Eriobotrya japonica Lindl., germination, seed cutting, animal urine

Abstract

Drainage and land cultivation be determaining factor for optimal production of sugar cane. For thatpurpose, this research aimed to know response growth of of sugar cane (Sacharum officinarum L.)to land cultivation on some drainage condition. This research was conducted in Plantation Field ofPT Perkebunan Nusantara II Kebun Sampali, Deli Serdang on July 2013 – January 2014, used splitplot design with two factor are; drainage (good and bad drainage), and land cultivation (maximumand minimum land cultivation). Parameter observed are plant height, stem diameter, number ofinternodes, and number of stem.The result showed that drainage significantly affect on plant height1-6 months after planting (MAP), stem diameter 1, 2, 5 dan 6 MAP, and number of internodes 1-6MAP. Land cultivatin significantly affect on plant height 1-6 MAP, stem diameter 1, 2, 3, 5 dan 6MAP, number of internodes 1-6 MAP, and number of stem 6 MAP. Interaction between two factorssignificantly affect on plant height 1-6 months after planting (MAP), stem diameter 1, 2, 5 dan 6MAP, and number of internodes 1-6 MAP. Best combination treatment showed on good drainageand maximum land cultivation.Keywords: drainage, land cultivation, sugar cane

Abstract

Green manure is the fresh form of crop forage material added in the soil to increase the growth andproduction of shallot. This research was proposed to find out response of two varieties of shallot ingrowth and production on green manures. Research had been conducted at experimental field of theAgricultural Faculty USU in May to August 2014, using factorial randomized block design withtwo factors, two varieties of shallot (Medan and Bima) and green manures (control, Tithoniadiversifolia, Mucuna bracteata, Azolla pinnata). The results showed that treatment of varietiessignificant affected in harvesting age, bulb number per sample, bulb fresh weight per sample, andbulb dry weight per sample. The treatment of green manures significant affected increasing bulbfresh weight per sample and bulb dry weight per sample. The interaction of both parameterssignificant affected bulb numbers per sample of shallot. The best result were showed by variety ofBima and green manure of Mucuna bracteata.Keywords : shallot, green manure, variety

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan dan produksi bawang merah(Allium ascalonicum L.) var. Medan terhadap pemberian bahan organik pada tanah terkena debuvulkanik Gunung Sinabung. Penelitian dilaksanakan di lahan percobaan Fakultas Pertanian USU,Medan, yang berada ± 25 dpl, dari bulan Juli sampai September 2014. Penelitian menggunakanRancangan Acak Kelompok dengan dua Faktor perlakuan. Faktor pertama kompos jerami padi (0;15; 30 g/polibag) dan faktor kedua pupuk kandang ayam (0; 15; 30 g/polibag). Parameter yangdiamati : tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan, jumlah daun, jumlah siung, diameter umbi basah dankering, bobot umbi basah dan kering per sampel, bobot umbi basah dan kering per plot. Hasilpenelitian menunjukkan perlakuan kompos jerami padi (P) berpengaruh nyata meningkatkan tinggitanaman umur 5 MST, menurunkan jumlah anakan umur 5 MST, meningkatkan diameter umbibasah dan kering, meningkatkan bobot umbi basah dan kering per sampel. Perlakuan pupukkandang ayam (J) berpengaruh nyata meningkatkan tinggi tanaman umur 4 - 5 MST, meningkatkandiameter umbi basah dan kering, bobot umbi basah dan kering per sampel. Interakasi antara keduaperlakuan tersebut berpengaruh nyata meningkatkan diameter umbi basah dan kering.Kata kunci: bawang merah, debu, organik, pertumbuhan

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the composition of Sinabung volcanic ashand cow manure in the planting medium on the growth and production of Deli tobacco. Theresearch was conducted at Balai Penelitian Tembakau Deli (BPTD) Sampali, Percut Sei TuanDistrict Deli Serdang Regency North Sumatera with the height of + 15 metres above sea level,began from June until July 2014. The research was arranged with a non-factorial randomized blockdesign which is consisting of 6 treatmentsratio of top soil : volcanic ash : cow manure that is 15kg:0kg: 0kg (P0), 12kg: 2.5kg: 0.5 kg (P1), 12kg: 2kg: 1 kg (P2), 12kg: 1.5kg: 1.5 kg (P3), 12kg: 1 kg:2 kg (P4), 12kg: 0.5kg: 2.5 kg (P5). The result showed that the composition of volcanic ash and cowmanurein the planting medium significantly affected the plant height, number of leaf, stemdiameter, sand leaf length (Z), first feet leaf length (VA), sand leaf width (Z), first feet leaf width(VA), sand leaf area (Z) and first feet leaf area (VA) at 18 days after transplanting up to 50 daysafter transplanting. The composition of Sinabung volcanic ash and cow manure in the plantingmedium unsignificantly affected the sand leaf thickness (Z) and first feet leaf thickness (VA).Keywords: volcanic ash, cow manure, Deli tobacco.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know growth response and production of some sorghum varieties to the addition of tithonia compost. The research was held from July - November 2014, used randomized block design with three factors addition of tithonia compost (0, 10, and 20 ton/ha) and two varieties (Kawali and Numbu). Parameters measured were plant height,the number of leaves , flowering time, weight of panicle seed per sample, weight of panicle seed per plot, yield per sample, yield per plot, and 1000 grains weight. The result showed that compost doesn’t affected significantly on all of parameters. Varieties affected significantly on plant height, the number of leaves, flowering time, yield per sample, yield per plot, and 1000 grains weight. There were not any interaction between compost and variety on all parameters. The best result was found in the combination of 10 kg tithonia compost and numbu variety.Keywords: , tithonia, variety, compost, sorghum.

Abstract

The aim of this research was aplication guano on mung bean which hope to can increase the growth and production. This research was conducted at experimental field of Agriculture Faculty USU in Juli-September 2014 using factorial randomized block design with two factor, i.e. types of varieties (betet and walet) and guano (none; 200; 400 and 600 kg/ha). Parameter observed were relative growth rate and dry weight of seeds per sample. The result showed that varieties and guano application significantly affect the parameters of relative growth rate in the 10-21 day after planted (DAP). The interaction of two factor significantly affect on parameters dry weight of seeds per sample. However application of guano on mung bean no significant effect the parameters crop growth rate, days to flowering, days to harvesting, number of seed per sample, weight of 1000 seed and seed production per plot.Keywords : mung bean, varieties, guano
