Abstract

Kata kunci: Pola arus dan sebaran klorofil-aABSTRACTCurrent patterns and distribution of chlorophyll-a are one of the most important parameters in waters to understand the dynamics of marine ecosystems and support various activities related to the utilization of marine resources. The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of chlorophyll-a distribution and current patterns in the Flores Sea waters each season. The study was conducted from August to October 2023 at the Inderaja Laboratory, Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University, Makassar City, South Sulawesi Province. The data used were monthly data for one year taken from the Aqua MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) satellite, chlorophyll data, while current data was taken from Marine Copernicus. The results of this study are the concentration of chlorophyll-a distribution in the Flores Sea waters in 2021 showing that the distribution of chlorophyll-a varies greatly according to the season. The highest concentration of chlorophyll-a occurs in the transition season I and the lowest occurs in the transition season II. The current in the Flores Sea waters has the highest speed in the west season and the lowest in the east season. Currents also affect the distribution of nutrients and phytoplankton that affect the fertility and primary productivity of waters. The presence of currents which are one of the oceanographies causes nutrients and chlorophyll-a to experience distribution according to the movement of the water mass that affects it.Keywords: Current patterns and distribution of chlorophyll-a

Abstract

Rewataya Village is situated on Tanakeke Island, within the Takalar Regency. Despite its significance, previous studies have not addressed the mapping of changes in mangrove land area within this locale. The present research aimed to fill this gap by assessing alterations in mangrove land area from 2013 to 2023, alongside examining density and canopy cover conditions. The method employed for mapping changes in land area entailed utilizing the unsupervised method with maximum likelihood classification. Additionally, the assessment of mangrove conditions involved employing plot line transects to determine species density and hemispherical photography methods to evaluate canopy cover. Notably, two types of mangroves, namely Rhizophora mucronata and Rhizophora apiculata, are prevalent in this village. The mangrove species density in Rewataya Village, Tanakeke Island, is categorized as good. In addition, the canopy cover in Rewataya Village falls within the classification of very dense according to mangrove damage criteria. However, there has been a notable reduction in the mangrove ecosystem area between 2013 and 2023, with a decrease of 42.28 hectares (from 367.13 hectares to 324.84 hectares). Keywords: MangroveLandsat 8Rewataya villageUnsupervised

Abstract

One of the issues in aquaculture activities is the high cost of commercial feed, and self-prepared feed can be one of the solutions. Efforts to improve feed utilization in cultured organisms include the use of stimulants known as attractants. The objective of this study is to observe the use of different attractant sources in self-prepared feed for whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) by examining feed consumption, feed conversion ratio (FCR), and the growth of the shrimp. The treatments in this study consisted of feed without the addition of attractants (A), feed with the addition of squid meal attractant (B), shrimp head meal (C), and rebon (small shrimp) meal (D). Whiteleg shrimp (DOC 30) with an average weight of 2.96±0.21 g were reared in aquariums, with each treatment consisting of four replicates. After the rearing period, the feed intake for treatments A, B, C, and D was 0.156 g/shrimp, 0.184 g/shrimp, 0.181 g/shrimp, and 0.167 g/shrimp, respectively. The feed conversion ratio (FCR) obtained was 1.8, 1.4, 1.2, and 1.3, respectively. The absolute growth for the four treatments was 1.092 g/shrimp, 1.632 g/shrimp, 1.779 g/shrimp, and 1.506 g/shrimp, respectively. Statistical analysis showed no significant differences among the four treatments (P>0.05) in terms of feed consumption, FCR, and growth. The results of this study highlight the potential use of shrimp head meal, which is a waste product, as an attractant and a protein source.

Abstract

Fish protein hydrolysate (FPH) is a simple peptide as a result of the enzymatic hydrolysis of fish protein. FPH is added to ice cream to enhance its quality characteristics and increase consumer acceptance. The purpose of this study was to determine the best concentration of fish protein hydrolysate (FPH) in producing ice cream based on organoleptic, physical, and chemical parameters. A completely randomized design (CRD) was used for the study. The treatment was to add FPH from bycatch fish to ice cream at different amounts: 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, and 1.8%. The parameters analyzed were hedonic quality, taste intensity, proximate, fiber, melting power, viscosity, overrun, total solids, and total plate count. Ice cream with the addition of 0.8% FPH had the best level of panelist acceptance, while the addition of 1.8% FPH had the best chemical and physical quality. Panelists slightly prefer the 0.8% treatment in terms of color preference value (3.73), aroma (3.66), texture (4.26), and overall (4.02). The intensity assessment of the attributes fishy (3.34), sweet (3.34), taste (3.59), strawberry (3.13), and milk (3.25) is still acceptable to panelists in the medium category. Ice cream with the addition of 1.8% FPH has a moisture content of 72.25%, fat (1.62%), ash (1.11%), protein (1.71%), fiber (5%), viscosity (2,084.4 cP), and melting power (44 minutes). The total plate count of ice cream still meets the safe limit according to SNI 01-3713-1995. It has been found that the more FPC that is added, the higher the fishy taste, protein content, fiber, viscosity, and overrun value that makes the ice cream matrix work better as a foaming agent.
