Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney failure is a terminal illness where the disease cannot be cured, so it requires hemodialysis therapy. Life changes in post-HD patients cause various complications that make patients feel uncomfortable, have insomnia, and feel dizzy and tired. Therefore, it is necessary to measure the level of fatigue using a post-dialysis fatigue scale to anticipate the exhaustion felt by the patient on the subsequent dialysis. Methods: Quantitative research using PLS statistics, the population in this study consisted of 69 residents who had post HD and conducted on 59 samples with purposive sampling. Obtained the results of validity and reliability in the study, composite realiability= 0.902; rho_A= 0.895; discriminant validity=0.650. Collecting data using a questionnaire Post Dialysis Fatigue Scale (PDFS). The study was conducted in February 2022. Results: The results showed that most respondents felt severe fatigue, as many as 44 people (74.6%) after undergoing hemodialysis therapy. The items that respondents felt most about fatigue levels included feeling dizzy, headache, no appetite, chest aches, and pains. In addition, the majority of respondents aged ≥50 years, 26 respondents (70.3%) felt severe fatigue. While the majority of respondents who underwent hemodialysis for ≥12 months, namely as many as 35 respondents (76.1%), felt extreme fatigue. Conclusion: Most respondents were dominated by men with an average blood pressure of 140/88 mmHg and were in the category of severe fatigue.

Abstract

Background: interdialytic Weight Gain (IDWG) is a parameter easily measured routinely at the beginning of a dialysis session and an essential indicator to recommend fluid intake for patients with kidney failure. Increased IDWG is associated with various complications in patients undergoing hemodialysis.Purpose: to analyze the factors that influence IDGW in hemodialysis patients. Methods: a cross-sectional design was used in this study. Data were collected during January-March 2022. Data collected included: demographic variable (gender, age, level of education, fluid intake, thirst, and stress)/ Data were analyzed with descriptive correlation statistic, Simple regression analysis ANOVA.Results: the total number of participants recruited was 65 participants who undergoing hemodialysis 1 month at a private hospital in Semarang, there were 27 participants (41.5%) in the moderate IDGW category, and 20 participants (30.8%) experienced severe stress, while fluid intake had an influence on IDGW (r=0.493, p=0.000), thirst (r=0.394, p=0.001) and stress (r=0.562, p=0.000).Conclusion: in this study, the factors associated with IDWG were fluid intake, thirst and stress. The previous 3 factors significantly increased IDWG due to decreased renal function, but increased fluid intake interfered with patient compliance, including fluid management and hemodialysis. Factors not included in IDWG include age, gender and education.

Abstract

Background: Even though caring behavior is introduced since nursing students enter the institution, caring behavior is still low, this may be due to a lack of student involvement.Purpose: The study provides insight into the relationship between student engagement and caring behaviour in nursing students. Methods: A descriptive correlational study was conducted. Data were collected from 250 nursing students in the second to fourth years who had clinical practice experience. A cross-sectional study design was conducted. Data were collected using a modified Caring Behaviour Inventory (CBI) and a Student Course Engagement Questionnaire (SCEQ). Pearson product-moment correlation analysis techniques were used. Results: The overall student engagement score was 73.7 ± 6.8 on average while the caring behaviour score was 74.6 ± 6.5. Student engagement was significantly associated with caring behaviour r = .905 (p 0.001).Conclusion: Based on the finding that student engagement is strongly linked to the display of caring behavior in nursing students, it is clear that active engagement in the learning process is critical for fostering an understanding of caring behaviour. This study provides valuable insights for nursing lecturers seeking to increase student engagement and improve the development of caring behaviour among nursing students. By incorporating strategies that encourage active student participation and engagement, nursing departments can help to facilitate the development of caring behavior among their students.
