Abstract

Soybean is an important commodity as a source of protein, raw material for various food industries and animal feed ingredients. Some of the factors that have led to an increase in domestic soybean demand are increased public awareness of nutrition and protein, increasingly high prices for animal-based side dishes, widespread use and export of soy sauce, and the shifting of the soybean processing industry from home industries to medium to large industries. This is also supported by one of the government programs since 2017-2021, namely the development of soybean plants nationally. The development of these commodities certainly requires the right quality seed, quantity, place, time, and price. With the rolling of the business program to increase production of each commodity, the potential need for quality seeds is quite large. The need for developing soybean seeds in ENT is quite high. Kupang State Politics as a vocational education institution in agriculture needs to develop a business unit for raising soybean seeds. This PPUPIK activity was carried out in 2018-2020 and after PPUPIK in 2021 it has the aim of making the  State Agricultural Polytechnic of Kupang a center for certified soybean seed production that is commercial and available continuously. Keywords: seeds, soybean, certified, PPUPIK, ENT

Abstract

Using quality seeds could increase crop production, including kidney bean, "Inerie", cultivar. The qualified seeds providing enough food supply in the endosperm as a primary energy for a normal and strong germination (viability) and seedling growth (vigor). Seeds from harvested yield are stored for the next planting season. During storage the quality of the seeds will be deprived physically, physiologically and chemically, impact on the production. One way to overcome the drawbacks of the deteriorated seeds is by osmoconditioning using Polyethylene Glycol solution. Osmoconditioning strongly influenced by the osmotic potential and duration of osmoconditioning. The results showed that: 1) Osmoconditioning using PEG-6000 during invigoration affect the electrical conductivity and the chemical content of seeds, which has been deteriorating during 1 year storage; and 2) There is an interaction between osmotic potency and duration of osmoconditioning using PEG-6000 in relation to the electrical conductivity and chemical composition on the seed during 1 year storage. -1.0 MPa with 1 hour osmoconditioning gave the best effect on the electrical conductivity, the levels of free fatty acids and P-total of the “Inerie” seeds.Keywords: Kidney bean, osmotic potency, duration of osmoconditioning, deterioration, Polyethylene Glycol.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the growth of green bean local varieties of Sabu at different spacing and liquid fertilizer and to determine the relationship between sunlight interception and plant growth.The experimental design used was a factorial randomized block design with two factors, namely spacing is Plant spacing 40 cm x 20 cm , 40 cm x 25 cm , 40 cm x 30 cm and Type of Liquid Organic Fertilizer namely: NPK plus fertilizer, Nasa POC,Green Tonic Liquid Fertilizer, and POC ABG. The results showed that the difference in spacing and the type of liquid fertilizer affected the number of productive branches and the percentage of sunlight interception at the age of 5 week after planting (WAP) but did not influence other growth components. Spacing affects plant height at the age of 3 and 4 WAP and the percentage of light interception.  Key Words: interception, plant growth, spacing, and liquid fertilizer

Abstract

The study aims to determine the influence of KNO3 and manure to plant growth of the tomato varieties Betavila. Research takes place from April to November 2019 in Kupang District. This research uses randomized complete block design by one factor, which is 8 levels of fertilizer dose and repetition 4 times. As for the following treatment: P1 = 100% KNO3 recommendation, P2 = 100% Goat Manure recommendation, P3 = 100% KNO3 + 15 tons/ha goat manure, P4 = 100% KNO3 + 30 tons/ha goat manure, P5 = 75% KNO3 + 15 ton/ha goat manure, P6 = 75% KNO3 + 30 tons/ha goat manure, P7 = 50% KNO3 + 15 ton/ha goat manure, P8 = 50% KNO3 + 30 ton/ha goat manure.The results showed a combination of KNO3 and goat manure that affected the number of productive branches, buns and flower petals, and did not affect the lateral branches formed.  75% KNO3 + 30 tons/ha goat manure treatment provides the best influence on the number of productive branches (12.123), bunching of Flowers (27.973), and Flowers (5.630). Keywords: KNO3, goat manure, plant growth, tomato Betavila

Abstract

A good quality seed is obtained from good and appropriate production process. The use of good quality seeds could increase crop production plants, including Inerie variety of red bean. This plant could be grown in the lowlands having modified micro-climate. One simple technology to modify the micro-climate of the plant is through plant population density setting followed by the use of balanced fertilizer, including P fertilizer which could result in high quality seeds.  This research was conducted in the Practical Garden of Kupang State Agricultural Polytechnic from April to November 2015. The results of the study  showed that 1) the population density affected the levels of seed free fatty acids in the lowest population density of 36 plants / 3 m2 (50 cm x 30 cm);  2) the doses of SP-36 fertilizer affected the germination percentage of the seeds at the highest dose of 200 kg / ha SP-36, and free fatty acid of the seed on lowest level without SP-36 fertilizer , and;  3) there was interaction between the treatment plant and the population density of the dose SP- 36 fertilization. Treatment population density of 36 plants (spacing of 50 cm x 20 cm) with a dose of SP-36 200 kg / ha was the best effect on the rate of growth of seeds, simultaneity sprouted seeds and the content of P-Total on Inerie variety of red beans planted in lowlands eventhough did not have a different result with a spacing of 40 x 20 cm with a dose of SP-36 200 kg / ha. Abstract

The effectiveness of Liquid Organic Fertilizer, Fermented from Cow’s Rumen, effected to onion’s Production. The objectives of this research were to determine: (1) an effectiveness of liquid organic fertilizer; (2) a dosage of liquid organic fertilizer; and (3) an efficiency of the application of liquid organic fertilizer fermented from cow rumen to increase onion’s harvest. This research used a Randomized Group Design with Factorial Pattern using 2 factors. Firstly, a dosage of liquid organic fertilizer fermented from cow rumen (P) that is using some levels:  0, 8, 16, 24, and 32 milliliter/liter clean water. Secondly, the way of fertilizer application (A): by showering to soil media, and by spraying to all of the onion leaves. Analyses of the onion components were made for onions diametric and the weight of dry and wet union. Analyses were made also for the fertilizer nutrition and for the nutrient-rich soil before and after onions were planted. All analyses were performed in duplicate and the data were calculated based on multivariate analyses and were continued to Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DMRT) 5%.The result showed that liquid organic fertilizer fermented from cow’s rumen increased onion productivities especially in onion weight (dry and wet matter) and onion diametric. The variation of liquid organic fertilizer dosages (8, 16, 24, and 32 milliliter/liter clean water) did not affect significantly to onion production. Moreover, fertilizer application by drenching to the soil more efficient than by spraying to the onion leaves.Keywords: Liquid Organic Fertilizer, Cow Rumen, Fermented, Onion

Abstract

Cryopreservasion Potency of Coffea arabica Seed: Influence of Potential Osmotic and Osmoconditioning Duration to Viability and Hypothetic Vigor Index of Seed. This research aimed to prove the influence of potential osmotic and osmoconditioning to cure the seed viability and hypothetic vigor index of Coffea arabica as the result of draining or degradation of seed water until 12%. This research was an early step to test cryopreservasion potency of Coffea arabica seed, arranging factorially in Completely Randomized Design, consisting of two factors that are three potential osmotic levels (P): -0.5 Mpa; -1.0 MPa and -1.5 Mpa; and 3osmoconditioning duration level (D): 3, 5, and 7 days; and control (without osmoconditioning). Variables measured were electrical conductivity, free fat acid contents, radicel growth, time required for reaching 50% seed germination (T50), seed viability and hypothetic vigor index. Data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance, and Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5%. The result indicated that potential osmotic -0.5 MPa of osmoconditioning performed best influence to T50. Potential osmotic of -1.5 MPa presented best effect to seed viability and hypothetic vigor index. Five days Osmoconditioning performed best influence to time T50. Potential osmotic -0.5 MPa of 3-days osmoconditioning presented best influence to free fat acid contents and seed viability. Potential osmotic -0.5 MPa of 5-days osmoconditioning performed best influence to free fat acid contents and radicel growth. Potential osmotic -1,0 MPa and 5-days osmoconditioning were best affected to seed viability; while, potential osmotic -1.5 MPa of 5-days osmoconditioning also performed best influence to seed viability, and potential osmotic -1.5 MPa of 7-days were significant to seed viability and electrical conductivity of Coffea arabica.Keywords: cryopreservasion, potential osmotic, osmoconditioning duration, Coffea arabica

Abstract

The research was designed to study the effect of kinetin to and the interaction yield and seed quality  variety mung bean Fore Belu during the drought stress at generative stage. It was conducted from April until September 2007 at Kupang This research was arranged in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) based a factorial experiment (3x4) with three replications. The first factor was soil water content showing the level of drought strees, i.e. soil water content 100% field capacity, soil water content 75% field capacity, and soil water content 50% field capacity. The second factor was the concentration of kinetin i.e. 0, 20, 40 and 60 ppm. Furthermore, the seeds obtained from pot experiment were planted to know quality seeds. Data were analysed using analysis of variance, significant level at 5%, continued with DMRT 5%. The result showed that the drought up to soil water content 75% and 50% field capacity during reproductive stages of variety mung bean Fore Belu decreased yield and seed quality of mung bean. Kinetin sprayed on the leaves was effective to increase yield of mung bean. Concentration 60 ppm of kinetin indicated most the effective concentration to increase the growth and yield of variety mung bean Fore Belu. However concentration 40 ppm have been can give good response to yield of mung bean. Seed quality variety mungbean Fore Belu was not influenced by kinetin giving. Abstract

Palm is one of the ornamental plants which attracted many people. It is a tropical and subtropical plant which requires full sun. Princess Palm (Veitchia merilli) is one of the most desirable palm and is potential as ornamental plants of high economic value. It  is one of  palm species which is propagated by seed. Seed should germinate quickly in order to get palm seedlings in a short time. Slow germination is an obstacle in the cultivation of palm,  because the palm seed coat is very hard, thus inhibiting seed germination process. This research aimed at determining the influence of chemical treatments on the germination of Princess Palm.  This research was conducted in the screen house of laboratory of horticulture Kupang State Polytechnic of Agriculture between June and August 2015. The research design used in this study was randomized block design (RBD). The treatments used were: no chemical treatment, H2SO4, KNO3 and combination of  H2SO4 and KNO3. The results showed  that the chemical treatment affects the germination and seedling growth of Princess Palm. H2SO4 and KNO3 treatment gives best germination palm especially in terms speed growth and value of germination.  Keywords: Palm, Chemical Treatment, Germination, Seed

Abstract

The productivity of tomato plants in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) in 2016 reached 4.70 tons/ha, increasing by 17.66% from 2015. However, the harvested area decreased by 6.74%. Based on the above data, there is an increase in tomato productivity in NTT but still low compared to national productivity of 15.31 tons/ha. Some of the possible differences in productivity, in addition to the decline in harvested area are also caused by inadequate cultivation techniques that include plant density regulation and other cultivation measures. The purpose of this study was 1) to examine the effect of plant density on growth and yield of tomato plants cut by apical buds and 2) to obtain the best size of plant density that can increase the growth and yield of tomato plants. This study used a randomized block design with a planting distance factor consisting of 8 treatment levels with 4 replications: spacing of 50cmx40cm, 60cmx40cm, 70cmx40cm, 50cm x 50cm, 60cm x 50cm, 70cm x 50cm, 60cm x 60cm, 60cm x 60cm and 70cm x 60cm. The results showed that plant density had an effect on plant growth, namely stem diameter and number of productive branches, and influenced the yield of tomato plants namely fruit weights, plant density/spacing of 70 cm x 40 cm and 70 cm x 60 cm had the best influence on plant growth and fruit weight per plant highest (1037.19grams/plant and 907.50 grams/plant) of  betavila variety.
