Abstract

Hypertension, a highly prevalent non-communicable disease, can lead to serious complications including kidney failure and stroke. It is well recognized that unhealthy dietary patterns significantly influence blood pressure stability. This study aimed to examine the correlation between dietary habits and blood pressure stability among individuals with hypertension at Sukodono Primary Health Center. A cross-sectional methodology with a quantitative descriptive design was employed. The sample, obtained through consecutive sampling, consisted of 43 respondents. Data were collected using a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) and direct blood pressure measurements taken during three visits. Descriptive analysis with frequency and percentage distributions was applied. The findings showed that 17 respondents (40%) had unhealthy dietary habits, while 26 respondents (60%) reported healthy dietary patterns. Sixteen respondents (37%) experienced unstable blood pressure, whereas 27 respondents (63%) had stable blood pressure. The majority of respondents with healthy dietary patterns generally maintained stable blood pressure (96%), while most of those with unhealthy dietary patterns demonstrated unstable circulation (88%). This study concludes that nutritious food intake is strongly correlated with blood pressure stability in hypertensive patients. At the primary care level, modifying diets to reduce saturated fat and salt while increasing the intake of fruits and vegetables represents an essential strategy for managing hypertension

Abstract

The Super Depo Sutorejo Surabaya (SDSS) Project was created to separate household waste into fractions, but its separation effect is unknown. This study assessed the significance of the project in sorting general waste into biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and assorted. The t-test compared the means of general and biodegradable waste (normally distributed). The non-biodegradable and assorted waste were not significantly distributed; therefore, the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test was used to compare their medians against general waste. The multivariate analysis compared the significance level of each waste fraction. Each statistical analysis showed that the SDSS significantly sorts the general waste. The p-values were (0.000) <0.05 for each type of waste fraction. Furthermore, the multivariate analysis showed that all variables were similar, and p-values (0.00) <0.05. The biodegradable waste was the most significant fraction (M = 176,715.9; SD = 57,990.8), followed by the assorted (M = 171,412.5; SD = 94,631.3), and non-biodegradable (M = 35,243.8; SD = 17,290.7). The results showed that the SDSS significantly segregates general waste into biodegradable, non-biodegradable, and assorted, therefore hypothesis (H1) is accepted. This study recommends the Government of Surabaya to maintain and expand this waste management project throughout the city alongside the improvement of the community participation program.

Abstract

Volcanic disasters have a psychological impact on society. Community stress must be anticipated and overcome as soon as possible so as not to cause greater losses. Community empowerment based on the experience of dealing with and dealing with disasters, managing risks, reducing, and recovering from disasters is an adaptive community coping. The purpose was to determine the effect of community stress on the community empowerment process in preventing daily emergencies in the volcanic disaster area. This study used an analytic design through a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 165 people in Hargobinangun Village, Pakem District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, was taken using purposive sampling. The sample criteria were adults who live in the village and can read and write. Community stress and community empowerment were taken using a questionnaire from July until August 2020. Data analysis used T-test. Most communities have low stress for the threat of disaster but have high stress for attachment to the region. Community stress influence on community empowerment process (p-value 0.027). Community stress will affect the degree of reaction and have an impact on the community empowerment process in preventing daily emergencies. Further research is recommended to identify specific factors that cause stress in communities in volcano disaster areas.
