Abstract

Prospective elementary teachers (PET) are required to have sufficient mathematical and didactic knowledge about fractions, but many of them have difficulties explaining various concepts of fractions to students. Given the importance of prospective teachers’ knowledge of fractions, this study aims to investigate further the didactic knowledge of PETs’ didactic knowledge of fractions. Their knowledge is seen from their ability to construct contextual tasks about fractions based on number sense, problem-solving, mathematical literacy, and problem posing. PETs’ didactical knowledge is analyzed based on the anthropological theory of the didactic. This research method is qualitative with an internet-based research approach. The subjects of this study consist of 38 PsETs from a teacher education institution in Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia. The results of this study indicate that PsETs’ didactic knowledge of fractions is inappropriate, especially in the aspect of constructing contextual tasks about the division of fractions by fractions. PsETs tend to present the type of task associated with simple fraction operations and techniques in the form of standard algorithms. This study also indicates that PsETs’ theoretical knowledge is still limited to informal knowledge to support standard algorithms.

Abstract

WORKSHOP OF UTILIZATION OF LEARNING ENVIRONTMENT AROUND SCHOOLS IN MATHEMATICS LEARNING FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN SIAK HULU, KAMPAR. The workshop on the utilization of learning environment was motivated by the lack of teachers' mathematical and didactical knowledge. Teachers tend to explain techniques or procedures for solving mathematical problems without explaining the real context or situation of the problem, and this is contrary to the theories of mathematical learning that develop, such as the cognitive development theory, the realistic mathematics education, and the didactic situation theory. In addressing this problem, the team held a week workshop consisting of the lectures, observation, lesson plans, and implementation of learning by the teachers participating in the workshop, and reflection and evaluation of workshop activities. The data collection instrument consists of a questionnaire measuring the attitudes and beliefs of teachers towards mathematics, students learning mathematics, and mathematics learning based on real environments, photos, video recordings, and documents produced by the participants. The results of the implementation of this workshop show an increase in teachers' beliefs and attitudes towards students learning and mathematics learning based on real-life situations. Some participants were able to present the potential of the school environment as a source of learning mathematics, compile lesson plans, and carry out environment-based mathematics learning. The recommendation from this activity is that in the future it is necessary to have a service program that focuses on strengthening the teachers' mathematics content knowledge and making mathematics learning media and/or teaching aids.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the positive and significant correlation between mathematics self-efficacy and motivation of elementary school students. This type of research is quantitative using the correlation method. The population of this research was all fifth grade students of Elementary School in Cluster I of Marpoyan Damai District in Pekanbaru, which totaled 705 students. The research sample consisted of 183 students who were selected using cluster techniques. Data collection was carried out using a mathematics self-efficacy questionnaire and a motivation questionnaire and documentation, and the hypothesis was tested using the product moment correlation test and t test. The results showed that there was a positive correlation between mathematics self-efficacy and motivation of fifth grade elementary school students, indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.353 with a fairly strong relationship category, and there was a significant correlation between mathematics self-efficacy and motivation of fifth grade elementary school students, as seen from the tcount = 5.078, greater than ttable = 1.653, at a significance of 5%. The contribution made mathematics self-efficacy to motivation is equal to 12.5%.

Abstract

Community service activities were carried out in Harapan Jaya Village, Palalawan Regency with the aim of providing information to the public about plant cultivation systems with a simple hydroponic system. This outreach activity was motivated by the less than optimal use of yard land and the low level of public knowledge about vegetable cultivation techniques with modern hydroponic systems. This is because there has been no socialization about hydroponics in Harapan Jaya Village. Hydroponics is an alternative that can be used to increase the availability of healthy and quality vegetables in a limited area. Based on several types of hydroponic systems that can be done, hydroponics with a floating raft system is one system that is quite simple and easy to apply on a residential scale. Extension activities are carried out through three processes, namely the provision of material, question and answer sessions and practical demonstrations. The result of this activity is that residents better understand how to grow hydroponically in limited land use and residents get simple hydroponic packages that can be practiced at home.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out that the implementation of think pair square to improve students’ learning outcome. This was a classroom action research. The data analysis technique used in this research is qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The results showed that there was an increase in student learning outcomes from before the action, cycle I, and cycle II. Before the action only 9  students (56,25%) achieved the KKM, in cycle I increased to 11 students (68,75%) achieved the KKM, and In cycle II increased to 14 students (87.50%) achieved the KKM. Thus it can be concluded that the application of think pair square learning technique can improve students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

The development of technology in the world of education is able to change technology-based education, thus the purpose of this research is to develop WELIA as an application that is able to measure the linguistic intelligence of students in elementary schools. The novelty in the research is designing WELIA (Website Linguistic Intelligence Assessment) which is used to assess or measure the linguistic intelligence of elementary school students using technology. The results showed that the average score of 3 practitioner validators on 11 components showed a figure of 81.81% - 93.18% with a very decent category level. The first practitioner validator gave an assessment with a very feasible category of 11 assessment components, so that a percentage value of 81.81% was obtained for media assessment. Expert validators on 11 components showed a score of 84.09% - 88.63% with a very feasible category level. The first expert validator gave an assessment with a very feasible category of 11 assessment components, so that a percentage value of 84.09% was obtained, it can be concluded that WELIA can be used to assess the linguistic intelligence of elementary school students.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the influence of the Discovery Learning learning model on class V. This research was carried out in classes VB and VC at SDN 39 Pekanbaru with a total of 46 people. This research was carried out in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 academic year, to be precise in September 2023. This research used an experimental research type with the Non Equivalent Control Group Design method. The assessment in this study used objective tests in the form of PKN questions. After these questions were created, the researcher tested the questions on a class that had studied the material on the practice of Pancasila values in daily life with 30 students in class VI of SD Negeri 39 Pekanbaru. Next, the researcher tested the validity, reliability, level of difficulty and distinguishing power of the questions. After the pretest and posttest questions were declared usable, the researcher then gave the pretest questions to the experimental class and control class. When the research data has been obtained, the researcher carries out data analysis such as descriptive analysis, normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis test, N-Score test. The average pretest score in the experimental class was 36.087 while in the control class it was 83.5652. After carrying out the pretest for both classes, the researcher carried out learning according to the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP). Then the final stage is to give a posttest to the two classes. The average posttest score for students in the experimental class was 83.5652, while in the control class it was 71.7391. Based on data testing, the pretest and posttest results were normally and homogeneously distributed. Because the data is normally distributed, the researcher tested the hypothesis using the t-test, and obtained significant data results where 0.000 0.05 means Ha is accepted or in the sense that the Discovery Learning learning model has a significant effect on student learning outcomes. So the conclusion of this research is that the Discovery Learning model has an influence on student learning outcomes in class V citizenship education at Pekanbaru 39 State Elementary School.
