Abstract

The increasing number of violence against children, which in February 2020 was reported to be 2,851, increased to 7,190 cases in December 2020. This shows that the psychological condition of parents can affect their behavior in parenting and greatly affect the development of children. Parents, especially working mothers, have challenges to carry out their role of caring for children while working. This will be a stressor for a mother as a parent who has a major role in raising her child. To reduce the stressful conditions experienced by parents in parenting, it is necessary to have training and awareness from within the parents. Awareness in parents can be trained and understood through parenting that is carried out with full awareness continuously called mindful parenting. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of mindful parenting on parenting stress. The population and sample in this study were parents, especially working mothers, amounting to 113 people. The measuring instrument used to measure mindful parenting is the Mindfulness in Parenting Scale (MIPQ) developed by McCaffrey, Reitman and Black (2017) with a reliability value of 0.865. Meanwhile, the measuring instrument for measuring parenting stress is the Parenting Stress Scale, a measuring instrument developed by Berry and Jones (1995) with a reliability value of 0.87. The research method used is the simple linear regression method, and the analytical test used is SPSS 25. The results showed that there was a significant negative effect between mindful parenting on parenting stress in working mothers.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to describe the parenting style that the parents had on their teenagers. This research was held in slum area of Penjaringan in DKI Jakarta. Total of 154 people became the participants in this research. This was a descriptive study that wants to explore the parenting style that parents implemented to their teenagers. Along with that we also explored about discipline and communication pattern and relation in family. We used questioners for information gathering and implemented observation, interview and focus group discussion. To analyze the data, we used a qualitative approach with a reflexive thematic analysis method. Most of the participant used authoritarian and permissive-indulgent parenting. Most of the fathers did not involve in their teenager’s live.The parents actually cared about their teenagers. Nevertheless, they implemented harsh communication style to their teenagers. The participants had  hope to be an ideal parent, but did not have any idea what to do. Further research needed to be done and actions had to be implemented in order to create a healthy and fully functioning family in the slum area of Penjaringan.  Keywords : Penjaringan, Slum Area, Discipline, Communication AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk menggambarkan pola pengasuhan yang diterapkan orang tua pada anaknya yang sudah remaja. Penelitian ini dilakukan di kawasan kumuh Penjaringan di DKI Jakarta. Sebanyak 154 partisipan orangtua terlibat dalam penelitian. Penelitian ini merupakan studi deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pola pengasuhan yang diterapkan orang tua pada anaknya. Sejalan dengan itu, peneliti juga mengeksplorasi pola disiplin dan komunikasi serta hubungan dalam keluarga. Peneliti menggunakan kuesioner, observasi, wawancara dan diskusi kelompok kecil (focus group discussion) untuk pengumpulan data. Untuk menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis tematik reflektif. Sebagian besar partisipan orangtua menggunakan pola asuh authoritarian dan permissive-indulgent. Sebagian besar ayah dalam penelitian ini kurang terlibat dalam pengasuhan anaknya.. Sebenarnya para orangtuamengasihi dan peduli akan anak-anaknya. Namun demikian, mereka mengimplementasikan pola disiplin yang keras kepada anaknya yang remaja. Partisipan memiliki harapan untuk menjadi orang tua yang ideal namun tidak memahami bagaimana cara melakukannya. Penelitian lebih lanjut perlu dilakukan dan berbagai aksi sebaiknya diterapkan untuk menciptakan keluarga yang sehat dan berfungsi dengan baik pada daerah kumuh Penjaringan. Kata Kunci : Pola Pengasuhan, Disiplin, Komunikasi Orang tua, Remaja, Kawasan Kumuh

Abstract

AbstrakIbu yang bekerja di luar rumah akan menjalani dua tuntutan peran berbeda. Dengan kedua tuntutan tersebut, ia mengalami keterbatasan waktu, merasakan ketegangan emosional dan dituntut menampilkan perilaku berbeda antara di tempat kerja dan di rumah. Menghadapi kondisi tersebut, ibu bekerja harus memiliki energi ekstra agar tidak lelah secara fisik maupun psikologis. Salah satu upaya untuk meringankan beban ibu bekerja adalah adanya bantuan fisik dari asisten rumah tangga, agar ia memiliki waktu untuk membagi perhatian antara keluarga dan pekerjaan hingga tetap optimis. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh simultan work-family conflict dan kepemilikan asisten rumah tangga terhadap optimisme ibu bekerja di Indonesia. Metode penelitian ini berjenis kuantitatif-kausal komparatif dengan teknik purposive sampling, melibatkan 204 ibu bekerja dan telah menikah di wilayah Indonesia. Alat ukur optimisme menggunakan teori Seligman (2008) dengan 35 item valid (rentang (r) ≥ 0,3) dan reliabilitas (α) = 0,956. Skala work-family conflict menggunakan teori Greenhaus & Beutell (1985) dengan 22 item valid dan reliabilitas  (α) = 0,912. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan ada pengaruh secara simultan work-family conflict dan kepemilikan asisten rumah tangga terhadap optimisme ibu bekerja di Indonesia (sig. (p) = 0,000); (p) < 0,05 dengan persamaan regresi berganda Y =  147,392 - 0,804 X1 + 0,320 X2. Work-family conflict dan kepemilikan asisten rumah tangga memberikan kontribusi sebesar 44,8% terhadap optimisme. Selain itu, ditemukan secara parsial ada pengaruh work family conflict terhadap optimisme (p) = 0,000 <0,05, akan tetapi tidak ada pengaruh secara parsial kepemilikan asisten rumah tangga terhadap optimisme dengan nilai (p)= 0,775 >0,05. Ibu bekerja dengan optimisme tinggi lebih banyak yang telah menikah >20 tahun, memiliki anak >3 serta berprofesi sebagai doker dan nakes.    AbstractWomen who worked outside the house had two different roles that are both demanding. With those two roles, there were time management issues, emotional burden, and pressure to show different behaviour at work and at home. Facing these challenges, working women needed extra energy to prevent physical and emotional fatigue. One of the thing to do was to provide a house assistant to help with some of house chores so women could have more time to handle family and work and in the end could experience optimism. The aim of this research was to find out the simultaneous effect of work-family conflict and the usesage of house assistant toward the level of optimism of working women in Indonesia. Method of this research was quantitative-causal comparative with purposive sampling technique, involving 204 working and married women. Optimism was measured with a scale based on Seligman (2008) with 35 items (range (r) ≥ 0,3) and reliability(α) = 0,956). Work family conflict was measured with a scale based on Greenhaus & Beutell (1985) with 22 items (reliability (α) = 0,912). The result of this research showed the simultaneous influence of work-family conflict and the usage of house assistant to level of optimism of working women in Indonesia (sig. (p) = 0,000); (p) < 0,05) with double regression equation: Y =  147,392 - 0,804 X1 + 0,320 X2. Work-family conflict and usage of house assistant gave a 44.8% contribution on optimism. Beside that, it was also found a partial influence of work family conflict toward optimism ((p) = 0,000 <0,05) but there was no partial influence of usage of house assistant toward optimism ((p)= 0,775 >0,05. Working women with higher level of optimism were those who were married more than 20 years, have equal and more than three children, and had doctor and health practitioner as their professions.

Abstract

AbstractEarly childhood (3-5 years old) is an important phase in someone's life. This is a critical time for physical development, for language acquisition, for emotion learning, and for social interaction.  Psychoeducation about development, parenting, and education of early child development was needed so parents can deliver a developmentally-right parenting practice that covers all aspects of early childhood development. This psychoeducation is a service-to-community project that was held online with a visual interactive method. The result of this seminar showed that there were still some topics that needed to be explained to the participants considering their mean score of post-test in 77,14 %. Participants gave an excellent review for this psychoeducation with the mean total review of 97,85%. This seminar can be enhanced with a roleplay of how to parent those in early childhood involving parents and their children. Kata kunci : early childhood, parenting.AbstrakMasa usia dini (3-5 tahun) adalah masa yang penting dalam kehidupan seseorang. Masa ini adalah masa kritis untuk perkembangan fisik, pembelajaran bahasa, pengenalan emosi serta interaksi sosial. Psikoedukasi mengenai perkembangan, pengasuhan, dan pendidikan anak usia dini dibutuhkan agar orang tua dapat memberikan pengasuhan yang memperhatikan semua aspek perkembangan yang ada. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan secara daring dengan metode visual interaktif. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan adanya pemahaman terhadap perkembangan, pengasuhan, dan pendidikan anak usia dini serta memperlihatkan juga hal-hal yang masih harus diperjelas untuk orang tua dengan nilai rata-rata 77,14 % pada post test. Partisipan memberikan penilaian yang baik untuk kegiatan ini dengan total kepuasan sebesar  97,85%. Kegiatan ini dapat dilanjutkan dalam bentuk pelatihan praktek pengasuhan secara langsung dengan melibatkan roleplay dari orang tua dan anak  Kata kunci : masa usia dini, pengasuhan.

Abstract

The pressure faced by college students in the digital era has become increasingly complex. Not only are they expected to be independent and succeed academically and in their careers, but they also often experience social pressure due to peers’ success shared on social media. This can trigger feelings of inferiority, anxiety, and even depression. One of the main factors contributing to depression in early adulthood is the inability to cope with life transitions, commonly referred to as a quarter-life crisis. In addition, family functioning also plays a crucial role in supporting students' mental health. This study aims to examine the simultaneous influence of family functioning and quarter-life crisis on the level of depression among university students. The research employs a quantitative approach with a causal design. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, involving 231 student respondents from various regions in Indonesia. The measurement tools include the Family Functioning Scale adapted from the Family Assessment Device (FAD) by Epstein, Baldwin, and Bishop (1983), consisting of 52 valid items with a Cronbach’s Alpha reliability of 0.950; the Quarter-Life Crisis Scale, based on the theory of Alexandra Robbins and Abby Wilner (2001), consisting of 26 items with a reliability of 0.856; and the Depression Scale using the standardized Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) by Beck (1991).The results show that, simultaneously, family functioning and quarter-life crisis have a significant effect on students' depression levels, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Partially, family functioning has a negative effect on depression (p = 0.000 < 0.05), meaning that the better the family functioning, the lower the level of student depression. However, partially, the quarter-life crisis does not have a significant effect on depression, with a significance value of 0.405 (p > 0.05).

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the perception that adolescents had on their parents pattern of communication. This research was held in slum area of Jatinegara in DKI Jakarta. Total of 121 adolescents from 3 districts (Rawa Bunga, Cipinang Besar Selatan, Kampung Melayu) were present in the activities. While we discussed about parenting and communication skills between parents and their offsprings, we explored the perception that the adolescents have about their parents, especially about their communication pattern. This was a descriptive study that wished to explore the communication pattern and relation in family. We used survey method, including questioners for information gathering and implemented observation, interview and small group discussion. To analyze the data, we used descriptive statistical analysis technique and qualitative analysis. We found that in each of the district, the most of the adolescents felt proud of their parents (Rawa Bunga 53%; Kampung Melayu in morning session, 65%; Kampung Melayu in afternoon session, 27%; Cipinang Besar Selatan, 55%). Nevertheless, there were mixed emotion in their hope for their parents. Most of them felt angry to their parents. Some more felt that their parents were not nice enough, felt ashamed, unsignificant, confused and hoped to be understood. These findings suggested that there were still a lot of problems considering how parents communicate and interact with their children, especially their adolescent. Further research needed to be done and actions had to be implemented in order to create a healthy and fully functioning family in the slum area of Jatinegara.
