Abstract

The study aims to know how social community on gay’s life through the novel of Simon vs the Homo sapiens agenda written by Becky Albertalli. The title of this research is “ The Analysis of Main Character on Confessions of A Shopaholic Novel through Freudian Theory written by Sophie Kinsella”. Confessions of A Shopaholic novel is tells about a women named Rebecca Bloomwood who has bad behavior that are shopping addiction to fulfill her desire but she gets anxiety because of her debts and it disturbs her psychological. This research will focuses on Rebecca’s anxiety.The data are taken from the novel in the form of dialog and monolog. The writer using psychoanalysis theory from Sigmund Freud that related with anxiety theory. Sigmund Freud theory has 3 kinds of anxiety, there are realistic anxiety, neurotic anxiety and moral anxiety. This theory is used to analyze the cause and effect of Rebecca Bloomwood’s anxiety.Last, the writer found the proved from Rebecca experiences three kinds of anxiety. First is neurotic anxiety caused by her mom character and it might be related to Rebecca childhood, Rebecca can’t to be honest to her mom about the cost of her skirt or clothes, she always tells if they are cheap because she knows her mom will shocked and angry if she now the truth, that can related if Rebecca can’t fulfill her desire when she was child because of her mom character. Second is realistic anxiety caused by her bad habit in shopping, that makes Rebecca has a lot of debts and that makes she becomes panic everytime met her debt collector. And the last moral anxiety caused by she felt guilty of her shopping behavior. And she becomes a liar to defense herself

Abstract

This research is an analysis of a poem written by Willliam Wordswort. The writer analyses the Wordswort's poem titled I Wandered Lonely As a Cloud (Daffodils) to reveal the denotation and connoation as the symbolic meaning. To analyze it the writer uses qualitative-descriptive method to reveal the data. The writer also uses Roland Barthes theory to analyze the symbolic meaning on Wordsworth's poem. Reasearch finding on this analysis is tha the poem of Daffodils mostly uses the naturalistic symbol so that the writer concludes that the poem has full of message of the beauty and powerful of the universe. Wordswort wants us to know his feeling through all these naturalistic symbols.

Abstract

The study aimed to know how the Ecolgical perspective in analyzing the song Earth. There are relation between humans and nature represented in the song. This study uses qualitative method to analyze the song. In the findings, the writer found that there is the disharmonic relationship between humans and nature that represented ecology matters, the next finding is the environmental imagination is revealed by the past, present and future in the song as the environmental history.

Abstract

The purpose for the study is to obtain the information about how the motivation portrayed the main character in the movie “Warm Bodies”. Motivation is generally interpreted someone’s desire to achieve success in any case. In research, the writer uses the movie of “Warm Bodies” as the main material to analysis the data. The theories on literature are necessary to use in analyzing the character in order to answer the research question on chapter 1. The research finding that the main character has change from antagonist into protagonist because of motivation. R as zombie, he help a girl wanted to be human because he wanted to be with someone he loves, so he never gave up to take a chance. The writer analyzed the character of R, through motivation theory, R changes because of motivation.

Abstract

The goal of the study is to prove that prepositions can parse the meanings of possessive construction -s. Besides, it is also to describe kinds of prepositions occurring in the possessive construction -s and to explain the meanings of possessive construction -s. Theories employed to support in analyzing data are Murphy (1998) talking about prepositions; Lyons (1995), Huddleston & Pullum (2002), Carter & McCarthy (2010) discussing about possessive construction -s. The research questions discussed in this study are what kinds of prepositions can the possessive construction -‘s substitute and what meanings can the possessive constructions emerge. Some people considered that the possessive construction -‘s as the meaning of possession of someone. Based on the findings found by the writer, the meaning of possessive construction -s is not only to refer to the possessive meanings, but also to meanings of preposition, i.e. at, in, on, to, of, from, by, and about. Besides, each preposition has different meanings depending on contexts of the sentences.

Abstract

This paper discusses the manifestation of Dark Triad Personality on Napoleon character in George Orwell’s Animal Farm. Applying qualitative research method, this research analyzed the dark personality traits found in the conducted literary works, written by George Orwell and published by Penguin Books in 2008. This particular research aims is attempted to examine how dark triad personality of Napoleon was manifested in the Novel. Hereby, the findings showed that first is Narcissism, portrayed by his tendency to be a self-centered persona in every situation possible. Napoleon wants to get the highlight of farm’s achievement, also to show the self-superiority towards other animals. The second is Machiavellianism, this traits portrayed by utilizes his position as an authoritarian leader in order to get absolute control and committed propaganda to gain advantageous situation on the farm. The third is Psychopathy, shown by him in the form of violence and subtle slavery on the farm. On his leadership, it seems like no empathy to all animals who conduct a work in the farm. Nevertheless, he use violence as a threatening tool, especially when he conduct an execution as a presumption of involvement to Snowball’s rebellion. In conclusion, this study highlights that the dark triad personality in Animal Farm novel arguably can be delivered in the form of fictional character. Dark Triad Personality are merely impactful devices in literary works that can embrace characters darker side of human nature. Analyzing literary works with specific personality theory may provide deep knowledge and understanding of characters personality.

Abstract

This research purpose is to potray feminism issue that happen in education aspects and handling about gender issues in their environment and experience women’s with feminism values useful in the future. In this research, writer analysis Moxie movie with main problem every character in their school and any problem their happens of that with any people in their school against their feminism community. This Movie tells a story women’s struggle for their rights in their school in context fashion, scholarship, and their right for choose something. Through of every women’s with different background they all cooperate for their position in their school and want feel comfort and don’t want get racism between gender. The writer does analysis this research used Liberal feminism by Betty Friedan methods. Every dialogue in this movie could be useful for this research as a proof relate with the theory and women’s life in the future. Through eight points writer find matches in every dialogue in scene of Moxie movie. After that the writer try to research that be stronger proof for this thesis analyze and useful for understands. The results of this research will explain about gender issue in our environment and women’s can break that without rebel with Liberal feminism method. Abstract

This research is entitled "David Kim's Personality Traits In “Searching” Movie Directed By Aneesh Chaganty". The purpose of this research is to analyze the personality of the main character David Kim. The object of research used is the movie "Searching" directed by Aneesh Chaganty and released in 2018. The movie "Searching" tells the story of a single father named David Kim who is trying to find the whereabouts of his missing daughter using technology in the form of social media. David Kim's personality that stands out in this movie is the reason why the author uses this movie as the object of research. The writer uses the Personality Traits Theory (1992) from Costa. The writer decided to use a qualitative method to find the results of this research. Based on the analysis, the writer found that there are fifty-three pieces of evidence with details from the neuroticism domain with twenty-five pieces of evidence, extraversion domain with six pieces of evidence, openness domain with one piece of evidence, agreeableness domain with eleven pieces of evidence, and conscientiousness domain with ten pieces of evidence. The most personality found in David Kim in this movie is from the neuroticism domain. The writer concludes that David Kim is a responsible and caring person, it’s just that he had a bad experience that made him lose his way. But he is a person who tries to improve himself. Suggestions from the research can include analyzing other characters, using different theories, and taking morals from this movie.

Abstract

Figurative language is a way of expressing oneself using figurative words. This research aims to identify the figurative languages that are found in the movie script then analyze deeper the meaning and the role of it. This research is using descriptive qualitative method to analyze. The data was from movie script of “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”. The research was using semantic approach, specifically figurative language. To identify the type of figurative language and its role to the movie, the writer use theory by Laurence Perrine (1956). The results of the study are, meaning of these figurative language can be deduced from the context, with Leech's theory revealing its depth. The most dominating figurative language found are Simile, Metaphor, Overstatement, Understatement, Irony, and Paradox. The study also found the functions of metaphorical language in constructing the film's message, influenced by Perrine's theory. There are 31 sentence of figurative language found in the movie, metaphor was predominate in the script and simile are use less frequently. This research seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of figurative language along with its meaning and role in the “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” film.
