Abstract

This study discuss how the spatial layout of the reference service owned by the Regional Library of Payakumbuh ca be used as an analysis of the spatial layout of reference service from other regional libraries. For the analysis of the spatial layout itself, it can be seen from how the placement of the room by the Payakumbuh local library is to increase the quality of the reference services they already have. In this study, researchers used qualitative research methods by conducting field observations. From the result of the study, it can be shown that the layout of the reference services in the Regional Library of Payakumbuh City can be said to be inadequate because the layout is still joined with other services such as children’s services, nursing mothers’ rooms, and IT rooms. Therefore, the users who come to this reference service room feel uncomfortable because the size of the room is 5x6 meters. The lack of facilities in the Payakumbuh Regional library is because the building is still joined by other agencies, namely the tourism and sports office, and the food security service. Reportedly, in 2024, this library will become its building and will longer be affiliated with the government agency. It’s hoped that with this good news that will be carried out by the regional library of the city of payakumbuh, the layout of the reference service will become wider in size and will no longer be combined with other services. Therefore, the purpose of this reference service is to make it easier for users to search or search for information.

Abstract

The main problem in this study is that the library maximizes promotion through social media because librarians rarely do promotions through Instagram posts, Facebook, and library websites, the lack of use of the Solok City Public Library by visitors, due to the covid'19 pandemic, and the lack of creativity of librarians in using social media as a means of promotion of the use of the library. The type of research used is causal associative with a quantitative approach. This research was conducted at the Public Library of Solok City by using a questionnaire as a research instrument. Questionnaires were distributed to 81 respondents using a simple random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods by describing quantitative data. The results obtained regarding the effect of promotion through social media on the use of the Solok city public library showed that the variable of promotion through social media was 3.21 and the variable of library utilization was 3.13. So it can be concluded that the effect of promotion through social media on the utilization of the Solok city public library is good. In the grand mean test, the collection utilization indicator is said to be good with a grand mean value of 3.06. In the grand mean test, the indicator of the utilization of the search facility is said to be good with a grand mean value of 3.18. In the grand mean test, the use of library services is said to be good with the grand mean value of 3.15. Promotion through social media affects library utilization by 54%, while the remaining 46% is explained by other factors not examined. The effect of variable X on variable Y has a significant effect of 0.037 at the probability level < 0.05. Thus it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between promotion through social media on library utilization

Abstract

This paper discusses the qualitative study of the role of reading gardens in increasing community creativity in the city of Padang Panjang. The aim is to find out if there is an increase in community creativity with the Rimba Bulan TBM in Padang Panjang City. The research method used is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the existence of the reading garden plays a very important role in the community, the community can develop skills through activities held by TBM Rimba Bulan. From these activities, the community can increase their creativity with curiosity and many people ask questions in participating in the activities held by TBM

Abstract

User perception is the argument given by the user from the results of observations and visions in the library, then analyzed according to the assumptions of each user of positive or negative perceptions of the librarian's skills in carrying out the process of searching for information sources in the library. The method used is qualitative with participatory objective observation on a social phenomenon that occurs in the library. The results of the study explain that the perception of users on the skills of librarians in searching for information sources at the library of the State Islamic Institute of Religion (IAIN) Batusangkar shows a negative perception of the skills of librarians in searching for information sources that suit the needs of users. The conclusion is that librarians must improve their Hard Skills and Soft Skills in tracing information sources.

Abstract

The public library is the closest institution to the community, with a library, it is easy for the community to find learning resources that suit their needs. This research aims to determine the utilization of spatial design in reading room study to determine the use of spatial design in the reading room at the library service and the general archives of the sijunjung area and to find out which reading room complies with existing library guidelines. The method used in this study is qualitative. The data collected in this study by conducting observations, interviews, and literature studies that are directly related to the research. From the result of this study, it can be concluded that the layout design of the library service and the general archives of the sijunjung area is quite good and the lighting and color of the room look elegant so that when the user enters the room it makes the mind of the user calm and open

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis komparasi Arsip dan perpustakaan adalah dua lembaga yang sama-sama mengumpulkan informasi, namun arsip mengumpulkan informasi dalam bentuk warkat ataupun manuskrip-manuskrip dan surat-surat penting untuk dimanfaatkan oleh peneliti. Penelitian lebih menekankan analisisnya pada proses penyimpulan deduktif dan induktif serta pada analisis terhadap dinamika hubungan antar fenomena yang diamati, dengan menggunakan logika ilmiah. Dengan teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan Observasi partisipatif dan wawancara mendalam, ditambah kajian dokumen. Dengan hasil penelitian arsip tidak dapat diakses secara terbuka oleh masyarakat karena kerahasian yang terkandung di dalam sebuah arsip. Sedangkan perpustakaan menghimpun informasi dan menyebarluaskan kepada masyarakat. Sehingga kedua lembaga tersebut memiliki visi dan misi yang berbeda dalam penyebaran informasi. Informasi yang di simpan pada kedua lembaga juga berbeda, arsip menyimpan informasi yang sudah langka dan peninggalan-peninggalan sejarah yang memiliki nilai tinggi, arsip tidak bersifat up to date dalam menghimpun informasi. Sedangkan perpustakaan menyimpan koleksi baik berupa tercetak maupun digital, dimana dalam menghimpun informasi perpustakaan harus selalu dituntut untuk up to date.

Abstract

This research was conducted at the Central Lombok Regency Library and Archives Office, to know how the effectiveness of services using the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) application in improving information accessibility for the community and inhibiting factors in using the OPAC (online public access catalog) application. The method used in this study is quantitative with a descriptive type of research. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is the analysis flow model technique. To support this research, there are seven research steps used by researchers, namely (1) compiling a research design (2) Choosing a research field (3) Managing to license (4) Exploring and assessing the field (5) Choosing and utilizing informants (6) Preparing research equipment (7) Research ethics issues. One of the efforts made by the Central Lombok library to increase the level of visits and reading interest of the people of Central Lombok is the existence of OPAC or online catalogs that will provide convenience for users and staff in cataloging or searching for collections. The electronic catalog is also proven to be able to promote the collections in the library of central Lombok regency. So that the existing obstacles are of concern to the government, especially the library and archives office of central Lombok regency so that public interest in accessing information increases.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the children's spatial design which includes: the placement of shelves, colors, furniture, lighting, and room area in the children's service room at the library service, and the archives of the city of Padang Panjang. A library must pay attention to the interior design of the library because this can support the literacy skills of users, one of which is children. Library interior design is a way of arranging the interior layout of a library building, which functions as a container for all activities and activities in the library by creating a comfortable and safe atmosphere and image of the space by paying attention to the needs of the individuals in it without neglecting aesthetic factors. Where the design will be by the expectations of users and librarians to improve children's literacy. Literacy can be interpreted as the ability to read, write, speak, and solve. To make children feel comfortable in the library room, a librarian must pay attention to the spatial design where this spatial design makes children feel comfortable and safe. Which is when children feel comfortable and safe, they can automatically increase literacy activities

Abstract

Pokok persoalan yang dibahas pada penelitian ini adalah bagaimana cara penerapan kerjasama di perpustakaan Darul Ilmi Nagari Taeh Bukik Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota dan Lembaga Informasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pemahaman pustakawan tentang kerja sama yang dilaksanakan di perpustakaan serta implementasi kerjasama antara perpustakaan dan lembaga informasi di perpustakaan Darul Ilmi Nagari Taeh Bukik Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota. Jenis penelitian yang dipakai adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini melalui observasi, wawancara dan juga dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dimulai pada reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Penjaminan keabsahan data pada penelitian ini memakai triangulasi sumber. Hasil pada penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa ada beberapa kerjasama yang dilaksanakan perpustakaan dan lembaga informasi di perpustakaan Darul Ilmi Nagari Taeh Bukik Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota.  Kerjasama tersebut dilakukan dengan perpustakaan daerah kabupaten daerah Lima Puluh Kota dan perpustakaan Provinsi Sumatera Barat, kemudian dengan organisasi masyarakat, dan dengan Perguruan Tinggi Politani Payakumbuh. Kerjasama ini dilaksanakan dalam usaha untuk mendukung program transformasi perpustakaan yang berbasis inklusi sosial yang perpustakaan tersebut bukan sekedar sebagai tempat meminjam atau mengembalikan buku, namun juga menjadi lembaga pusat kegiatan bagi masyarakat. Dalam melaksanakan kerjasama, ada terdapat beberapa kendala dihadapi perpustakaan Darul Ilmi Nagari Taeh Bukik Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota. Saran untuk perpustakaan Darul Ilmi adalah diharapkan kegiatan kerjasama dengan lembaga informasi lainnya dapat meningkatkan minat baca masyarakat sehingga mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ekonomi keluarga

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan two ways communication dalam mengoptimalkan kebutuhan informasi pemustaka. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif, penentuan fokus dalam proposal lebih didasarkan pada tingkat kebaruan informasi yang akan di peroleh dari situasi sosial (lapangan). Pada situasi sosial atau objek penelitian ini peneliti dapat mengamati secara mendalam aktivitas (activity), orang-orang (actors) yang ada pada tempat (place) tertentu. Maka dengan ini, peneliti lebih tepat melihat situasi sosial tertentu, dengan cara melakukan observasi dan wawancara kepada orang-orang yang dipandang tahu tentang situasi sosial tersebut. Adapun hasil penelitian hubungan two ways communication dalam mengoptimalkan kebutuhan informasi pemustaka adalah hasil penelitian yang dilakukan peneliti, kenyataan di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa hubungan two ways communication dalam mengoptimalkan kebutuhan informasi pemustaka dilihat dari urgensi unsur-unsur dalam melakukan komunikasi dua arah untuk mengoptimalkan kebutuhan informasi pada perpustakaan IAIN Batusangkar, dilihat dari lima unsur yang menjadi pertimbangan yaitu Source-receiver, Encoding- decoding, Messages, Feedback, dan Noise. kurangnya proses interaksi dalam komunikasi antara pustakawan dan pemustaka dalam mengoptimlakan kebutuhan informasi memang menjadi unsur penting dalam sebuah perpustakaan, akan tetapi unsur ini jarang sekali di lakukan baik oleh pustakawan maupun pemustaka. Dengan demikian ke lima unsur dalam hasil penelitian ini masih memiliki kekuranagan dalam setiap unsur yang semestinya dilakukan oleh pustakawan dan pemustaka. Karena untuk mengoptimalkan kebutuhan informasi perlu di tingkatkan komunikasi dua arah. Karena dengan ada komunikasi dua arah yang efektif antara pustakawan dan pemustaka maka kabutuhan informasi bagi pemustaka akan tercapai semaksimal mungkin sesuai dengan kebutuhan dari pemustaka dalam mencari informasi di perpustakaan IAIN Batusangkar. ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the relationship of two ways communication in optimizing user information needs. This study uses a qualitative research approach, the determination of the focus in the proposal is based more on the level of novelty of information that will be obtained from the social situation (field). In social situations or the object of this research the researcher can observe in depth the activities (activities), people (actors) that exist in certain places. So with this, researchers more precisely look at certain social situations, by conducting observations and interviews with people who are considered to know about the social situation. The research results the relationship of two ways communication in optimizing library information needs is the result of research conducted by researchers, the reality in the field shows that the relationship of two ways communication in optimizing library information needs is seen from the urgency of the elements in conducting two-way communication to optimize the information needs of the Batusangkar IAIN library, seen from the five elements that are considered, namely Source-receiver, Encoding-decoding, Messages, Feedback, and Noise. lack of interaction processes in communication between librarians and librarians in optimizing information needs has indeed become an important element in a library, but this element is rarely done by both librarians and librarians. Thus the five elements in the results of this study still have flaws in every element that should be done by librarians and users. Because to optimize the information needs need to increase two-way communication. Because there is an effective two-way communication between librarians and users, information clutter for the visitors will be achieved as much as possible in accordance with the needs of the users in finding information in the Batusangkar IAIN library.
