Abstract

Indonesia's education is heavily promoting education on characters. Exploring the values of character as legacy of the previous generations can be done through scriptures. Of any genres of Javanese scriptures very rich in character values is the wulang script. One of the wulang scripts found in Surakarta is Suluk Candra written by Prince Wijil Kadilangu and stored in Museum Rekso Pustaka Mangkunegaran Library . This article tries to explore the character values in it and to contextualize it with today?s education. The method used in this study is principle working of philology and interpretation of texts.. The working principle of philology aims to produce a text edition, while interpretation aims to analyze the content of the text. The results of this study are as follows. Suluk Candra is a script containing Islamic values. At least this Suluk teaches four ethics that can be contextualized with the world of education in the current 4.0 era. The ethical findings are ethics to the king/ leader/ state, ethics to teachers, ethics to fellow human beings, and ethics to oneself. In addition to values of ethics, values of character education are also found in Suluk Candra. Those character values are relevant to the present days, including love of science, logical thinking, critical, creative, innovative, religious, honest, and nationalist.

Abstract

Abstract Since long time ago, pondok pesantren (islamic boarding school) has been considered as a moderate institution. It also gives priority to peaceful ways in dealing with conflict. Unfortunately, such known attitude is now being strongly questioned due to some vestedinterests found in the pesantren community. The various motives in religions, politics,economics, social, etc among the people lead pesantren to be vulnerable to conflict. Using qualitative method, this article intended to explore the mindset, characters, and attitudesof the people in pesantren in dealing with various “ikhtilaf” (disputes) that later used as means to portray peace cultures in the pesantren. The findings of the research showed that both pesantrens (Nurul Ummah and Ar-Romli) had never been in serious externalconflict. Nevertheles, they had applied the principles of peace cultures well.Keywords: pesantren, ikhtilaf, peace culture, Pesantren Nurul Ummah, Pesantren ArRomli AbstrakPondok pesantren awalnya dianggap sebagai lembaga Islam yang moderat dan kental dengan tradisi damai dalam menghadapi berbagai bentuk perbedaan. Saat ini sikapmoderat pondok pesantren mulai dipertanyakan. Ditemukan fakta adanya pamrih politik, ekonomi, dan sosial dalam komunitas pondok pesantren yang menyebabkannyamenjadi tidak imun konflik. Penelitian ini dengan pendekatan kualitatif bermaksud mengeksplorasi kembali pola pikir, pandangan, karakter, dan sikap pengasuh atau santri pesantren dalam menghadapi “ikhtilaf” baik dalam paham keagamaan, politik, maupun budaya. Hasil eksplorasi digunakan untuk mengkonstruksi ada tidaknyanilai-nilai atau budaya “damai” yang tumbuh di pesantren baik dari sisi sistem, proses, maupun instrumen. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kedua pondok pesantren (Nurul Ummah dan Ar-Romli Yogyakarta) belum pernah mengalami konflik ekstern yang membutuhkan penanganan mendalam. Meskipun demikian, kedua pondok pesantren ini sudah mengaplikasikan prinsip-prinsip budaya damai dan menghadapi ikhtilaf dengan bijak.Kata kunci: pesantren, ikhtilaf, budaya damai, Pesantren Nurul Ummah, Pesantren Ar-Romli

Abstract

There are abundant Javanese manuscripts in Indonesia. One of the interesting Javanese manuscripts which was reviewed in this paper is Serat Wasitawala. This serat was written in a genre of piwulang. It contains character values that are expected to be the source of the curriculum enrichment for the 2013 national curriculum (Kurtilas) that puts the values of the characters as a priority. Using philology methods and hermeneutical approach, this article reveals content of the text and educational values in Serat Wasitawala, along with the context of writing and its relevance to nowadays education. Serat Wasitawala contains educational values that could represent the concept of Islamic education of Java in the past was written by Mas Demang Warsapradongga. Serat Wasitawala in general was a form of life doctrines both related to God as well as to human beings. The values of character education reflected in it are as follows; wondering, love science, thinking logically, critical, creative, and innovative; religious; honest; responsible; disciplined, hard working, confident boundaries; polite; nationalist; and appreciating diversity. The issues of education that are integral and related with nowadays context include character education/morals, professional teachers, and educational philosophy aimed at seeking perfection of life.

Abstract

This is a study of the “Hikayat Tamim ad-Dari” which used two theories and two methods: philology andBraginsky’s function. There were three variants of the manuscript that could be reached in the National Libraryof Indonesia. The researcher then selected the three manuscripts and decided the script under the code W. 101to be the primary source according to the criterion of material wideness. The selected manuscript was not onlytransliterated from Jawi into Latin but also edited to be the material for functional analysis. In the editing process,the text containing information of jin was then analyzed, categorized, and described in order to seek the wholeconcept of the jin. The conception revealed from the text were the life of the genie, their physical description, theirstrengthens and weaknesses, their religiosity, their interaction with humans and some creatures associated withthem.

Abstract

Every pilgrims hope to getting Hajj Mabrur. One effort to commercialize the Hajj Mabrur is able to run all the pilgrimage circuit and perfect in it, while also maintaining a good relationship with others, or in terms of the law called hablun minallah and hablun minannas. One effort to be able to maintain good relations with others is to understand and interact with a language that can be understood by both sides, in this case is Arabic language. With naturalisik methods, and qualitative analysis, the core of this paper would like to state that the Arabic Amiyah still used and continues to grow until now; learning Arabic Amiyah for pilgrims can be regarded as complementary needs; there are various constraints experienced in learning Arabic Amiyah by KBIH for pilgrims; and the state of Arabic language books for pilgrims are still rare and that there is still very simple.

Abstract

Kerukunan umat beragama menjadi topik yang terus digiatkan oleh pemerintah di tengah kondisi yang masih banyak memunculkan keadaan sebaliknya. Mengangkat model kerukunan umat beragama di daerah, seperti yang terjadi saat momentum kerja bakti lintas agama pasca longsornya tebing Pura Agung Arga Sunya di desa Krisik Blitar menjadi menarik. Kajian kualitatif ini disandarkan pada persepsi motivasi kerjasama umat beragama, local wisdom, serta kontestasi agen dan aktor. Dengan memanfaatkan analisis studi tradisi lisan dan etnografi baru, kajian ini berupaya mengeksplorasi praktik kerukunan umat beragama di sekitar Pura Arga Sunya Blitar, mencari faktor yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan penciptaan kerukunan, dan merumuskan model kerukunan di sana. Kajian ini setidaknya berhasil menjawab tiga pertanyaan di atas. Pertama, praktik kerukunan umat beragama yang memiliki potensi konflik laten di desa Krisik dapat dipertahankan dengan penguatan silaturahmi dan jalinan persaudaraan sosial yang meskipun dimungkinkan masih berupa kerukunan semu, tetapi dapat mencukupi tuntutan kebutuhan sebagai masyarakat sosial beragama di Indonesia. Kedua, terbukti bahwa nilai kearifan lokal memiliki peran penting selain nilai ajaran agama dalam mempertahankan kerukunan umat beragama. Ketiga, rumusan model pencipta kerukunan yang dapat diadopsi di antaranya: melakukan konstruksi kesadaran geografis dan sejarah desa, penguatan dan penerapan kearifan lokal, partisipasi dan kontestasi peran dalam menjaga kerukunan, serta menciptakan dan memaknai momentum kerukunan.

Abstract

AbstractThe massive literacy tradition of the Islamic boarding school community has shaped the legacy of Islamic scholarship in the archipelago so that it becomes an identity in religion, nation and state. This study seeks to reveal the works of Indonesian scholars who have become manuscripts as an effort to maintain the nation's cultural heritage at the Pondok Pesantren Tremas Pacitan and Tebu Ireng Jombang. The type of approach used is descriptive qualitative, using basic philological and codicological methods which are then collected data. The targets studied were limited to formal objects in the form of physical books found, with locations that had been determined from the start. Data was collected using observation, interview, and documentation techniques, combined with source triangulation. The results of this study; 1) Tremas Islamic Boarding School has many manuscripts that are not only sourced from Sheikh Mahfudz at-Tarmasi, but most of the manuscripts have been lost due to flooding or their whereabouts are unknown. and preservation by reprinting and dictating educational subjects; 2) The original Tebuireng masyayikh manuscripts were narrated scattered in various locations both in the family environment and in the dzurriyah students of K.H. Hasyim Asyari, the rescue step was carried out by dzurriyah, namely K.H. Ishomuddin Hadzik, K.H. Zaki Hadzik, and Gus Mirza Zaki Hadzik which is manifested in the form of publishing/reprinting works in the volume of Irsyaadus Saari; 3) The government's concern for the preservation of manuscripts is realized by establishing a database of manuscripts and publishing them on a wider scale as a form of preserving the assets of the nation and state; 4) The existence of libraries in Islamic boarding schools, causes the manuscripts to be more well conditioned and easy to be accessed and read by others. AbstrakMasifnya tradisi literasi masyayikh pondok pesantren telah membentuk warisan keilmuan Islam di Nusantara sehingga menjadi identitas dalam beragama, berbangsa, dan bernegara. Penelitian ini berupaya mengungkap karya-karya ulama nusantara yang telah menjadi manuskrip sebagai upaya menjaga warisan budaya bangsa di Pondok Pesantren Tremas Pacitan dan Tebu Ireng Jombang. Jenis pendekatan yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan menggunakan metode filologi dan kodikologi dasar yang kemudian dilakukan pendataan. Sasaran yang dikaji sebatas objek formal berupa fisik kitab yang ditemukan, dengan lokasi yang telah ditentukan sejak awal. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, dipadukan dengan triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian ini; 1) Ponpes Tremas memiliki banyak manuskrip yang tidak hanya bersumber dari syeikh Mahfudz at-Tarmasi, namun sebagian besar dari manuskrip tersebut hilang disebabkan banjir atau belum diketahui keberadaannya, kepedulian alumni, santri, pegiat dan pemerhati manuskrip, menggerakkan kesadaran dzurriyah dan pemerintah untuk melakukan penyelamatan dan pelestarian dengan mencetak ulang dan menjadikan diktat matapelajaran pendidikan; 2) Manuskrip masyayikh Tebuireng yang asli diriwayatkan tersebar di berbagai lokasi baik di lingkungan keluarga ataupun di dzurriyah murid K.H. Hasyim Asyari, langkah penyelamatan dilakukan oleh dzurriyah, yaitu K.H. Ishomuddin Hadzik, K.H. Zaki Hadzik, dan Gus Mirza Zaki Hadzik yang diwujudkan dalam bentuk penerbitan/cetak ulang karya dalam bunga rampai Irsyaadus Saari; 3) kepedulian pemerintah dalam pelestarian manuskrip diwujudkan dengan membentuk database manuskrip dan mempublikasikannya dalam skala yang lebih luas sebagai bentuk pelestarian aset bangsa dan negara; 4) keberadaan perpustakan di pondok pesantren, menyebabkan naskah lebih terkondisikan dengan baik dan mudah untuk diakses dan dibaca oleh orang lain.

Abstract

This paper is the result of a transcription text analysis of a song titled "lok laga" hosted by panting music group in South Kalimantan. Using the qualitative approach and the semiotic method of Riffatere poems, it is found that this work is part of the oral tradition that is packed in the song. The purpose or function derived from this song are some things, among them are the description of the ideal traditional wedding of South Kalimantan in the past, the myth of the dragon which is a form of local wisdom and cultural fusion in Borneo, and the marker of a tourist site as a promotional event. Another interesting thing found in the lyrics is the songwriter's message to direct the listener to change the perception of myth into something less sacred.[Tulisan ini merupakan hasil analisis teks transkripsi sebuah lagu berjudul “lok laga” yang dibawakan oleh grup musik panting di Kalimantan Selatan. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode semiotika puisi Riffatere didapatkan hasil bahwa karya ini merupakan bagian dari tradisi lisan yang dikemas dalam lagu. Tujuan atau fungsi yang didapatkan dari lagu ini ada beberapa hal, di antaranya adalah deskripsi pernikahan adat Kalimantan Selatan yang ideal pada masa lampau, mitos tentang naga yang merupakan bentuk kearifan lokal dan perpaduan budaya di Kalimantan, dan penanda situs wisata sebagai ajang promosi. Hal menarik lainnya yang ditemukan dalam lirik ini terdapat pesan pengarang lagu untuk mengarahkan pendengar mengubah persepsi mitos menjadi hal yang tidak terlalu sakral.]

Abstract

This research is included in naturalistic research which is intendedto explore the wedding ritual in Pekalongan, a town in the north part ofCentral Java which has a special characteristic. The ritual consists of severalsteps such as nakokke, sangsangan, nentokke dino, pasrahan tukon,malem midodaren, walimah, aqad nikah, resepsi, and balik kloso.Thespeciallity of Pekalongan wedding ritual arev (1) dating after engagement;(2) the brief series of ceremony; (3) the word walimah translated asreading maulid al-barzanji before akad nikah; (4) the couple do not sittogether in the ceremony; (5) a special term bedhol gelung; (6) an activityof balik kloso sisan tilik; (7) a special term nunggak seme; (8) thereare some models of invitation.
