Abstract

The combustion process is one of the alternative methods of processing waste are effectively used in the processing of household organic waste. In this study used a continuous combustion incinerator system, with a flow rate of garbage 10 kg / h and a water content of 15% by the air blast rate of 1,5 - 2,5 liters / sec. Heat of combustion is used to heat water in a boiler that is monitored / measured temperature and vapor pressure. This study aimed to obtain characterization Heating (temperature vs. time) and the potential energy that can be used to heat water in a kettle containing 5 liters of water with warming from the burning of household organic waste experimentally. Based on visual observation and temperature measurement, combustion of household organic waste can produce a continuous burning about 30 minutes, and the temperature between 350-400oC on the outer side walls of the boiler / closest to the combustion chamber, the water in the kettle boiling (100 ° C) after about 25 minutes, from the observed data can be calculated energy that can be utilized for heating is from about 5000 KJ of energy generated from waste incineration, 2000 to 3000 KJ can be used for heating water in a 5 liter boiler. Abstract

Often the cut side of the plate pieces on the lever scissors is not good (distortion occurs). This is due to the incompatibility of cutting variables, such as clearance and cutting angle of both scissors knife. The extent to which the effect of the clearance and the cutting edge of the scissor knife on the cutting of the steel plate is to be studied to obtain the appropriate cutting parameter as reference in the slashing work of the plate with the lever scissors.This research is aimed to know the proper clearance and cutting angle for various variations of steel plate thickness. The thickness of the steel plate as a specimen of the test specimens was of a size 1.61 mm, 2.63 mm, 3.85 mm, 4.95 mm and 5.39 mm, respectively. While the variation of cutting angle of scissor knife include: 75o, 77,5o, 80o, 82,5o and 85o.The test results showed that cutting of 1.61mm thick steel plate with 0.5 mm clearance and 77,5o cutting angle resulted in good cuts with 45% incision depth. On steel plates with thickness of 2.63mm and 3.85mm, the best cut results at 1mm clearance and cutting angle of scissors knife 77,5o, where the depth of incision successively reached 35% and 25%. For thick plates 4.95 mm and 5.39 mm, the best results of the incision depth were respectively 20% and 18% on clearance 2 mm and cutting angle 82,5o.

Abstract

Steel has good mechanical properties compared with the other materials, that is strength, hardness, rigidity, etc. Specially the steel hardness can be increased by heat treatment (Hardening). The purpose of this research is to obtain information about hardness of S45C steel after hardening by variation of cooling media. This research were used Ø 25 mm x 10 mm S45C steel, Hardened by variation of cooling media and then they were tested by Rockwell Harness Test. The result showed that the hardness of S45C steel after hardening increased from about 15 HRC (before hardening) to 71.89 HRC (Brane quenching), 68.22 HRC (Water quenching), 64.67 HRC (Water + Soluble oil quenching) and 56.89 HRC (Oil quenching), but for the range were opposite to 3.84 HRC (Brane quenching), 4.24 HRC ( Water quenching), 4.22 HRC (Water + Soluble oil quenching) and 5.65 HRC (Oil quenching)

Abstract

Motorcycle problems with large (cylinder / cc) engines are generally located on the sprocket gears that are rapidly wearing wear. The objective of this study was to increase the hardness of sprocket gears, while improving their wear resistance through hardening heat treatment process with variation of holding time and cooling medium. The research method included heating the specimen up to its critical temperature (850 ° C), retained with variations of holding time of 30, 60, and 90 minutes, then cooled rapidly (quenching) on water cooling, brine, and oil variations. The results showed an increase in the hardness of sprocket gears, with maximum hardness increases occurring at 30 minutes and 30 minutes of brine cooling.
