Abstract

The use of preventive health check-ups among older people was driven by health status and socioeconomic factors. This present study identified the determinants of preventive health check-up utilization among older people in rural Indonesia. This study had been conducted in rural areas in the district of Banyumas, Central Java, Indonesia. A cross-sectional survey had been carried out and a total of 412 older people were selected by using multistage sampling. Logistic regression determined the predictors of preventive health check-up utilization. The majority of the older people were female (75.5%) with low levels of educational attainments (56.3%). Factors including chronic illnesses and uneducated were associated with preventive health check-ups among older people. Older people with chronic illnesses (p less than 0.05, OR = 6.276) were more likely to use preventive health check-ups. Further, uneducated older people (p less than 0.05, OR = 12.562) were less likely to use preventive health check-ups in rural areas. Health status becomes a prominent factor that influences health care utilization among older people. Health interventions targeting identified at-risk subgroups are potential for fulfilling the demand for health care among older people who live in the community, particularly in rural areas. Health promotion for enhancing health literacy among older people would improve the utilization of preventive health check-ups among older adults.

Abstract

AbstractBackground: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major concern in the health sector of Indonesia, with more than one million patients. During the COVID-19 pandemic, DM patients have a risk of poor quality of life due to the high potential of fatality from COVID-19 infection or access barriers to health care and nutrition. This study aimed to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the quality of life of patients with diabetes. Methods: This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used was total sampling; that is, all members of the population were used as research samples. This research involved 95 patients with DM from 127 total population in Puskesmas Cilongok I. Data were collected through interviews with a guided questionnaire. The data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. Results: The results of this study indicate that factors related to the quality of life of patients with DM have a pandemic economic impact (p = 0.011 and OR = 0.341), and factors that affect the quality of life of patients with DM have a pandemic economic impact (OR = 0.326). Factors related to poor diabetes patients include losting work, decreased partial or total income, and increased daily expenditure. Conclusion: We suggest that health agencies can help patients with DM restore their quality of life after being hardly affected by the pandemic in the economic aspect by designing a sustainable program for patients with DM.

Abstract

Background Adolescents are usually thought of having a healthy condition, so study about their physical health, especially that related to lung condition is very limited. Indicator used for assessing lung condition is oxygen saturation. The study aimed to analyze the association of nutritional impact to low oxygen saturation in adolescent girls in Central Java, Indonesia. Methods This study used a cross-sectional design with 378 adolescent girls as respondents. To find which nutrition intake related to oxygen saturation, data of each nutrition intake and SpO2 level were analyzed using linear regression. Data of body mass index, hemoglobin level and upper arm circumference were also included in the analysis since previous research showed their correlation with oxygen saturation. Results The prevalence of low SpO2 in adolescent is 8.5%. The nutrition intake which statistically significant related to oxygen saturation were fat (p = 0.007; CI = -0.021, -0.003) and vitamin D (p = 0.037; CI = 0.005, 0.172). Conclusions Adolescent should decrease fat consumption, increase vitamin D consumption, and need to increase arm circumference by consuming more protein and living healthy lifestyle to avoid infectious diseases.

Abstract

Abstract

The effort to achieve universal health coverage for all people under a single-payer national health insurance in Indonesia still experiences a substantial challenge particularly related to informal workers. This population faces a number of challenges, including income irregularity, a lack of educational variety, the fact that the majority of workers live in rural areas, and a lack of health insurance literacy. The objective of this study was to examine the factors that influence informal workers' willingness to pay for a national health insurance program in Indonesia. This cross-sectional study was conducted in the Banyumas district of Central Java, Indonesia. Employing a multistage random sampling technique, 316 workers in the informal sector were recruited as study participants. Logistic regression was employed to investigate the factors that influence willingness to pay for national health insurance premiums. According to the study findings, urban, national health insurance information, and uneducated factors were related to informal workers' willingness to pay for national health insurance. Workers who lived in urban area (p < 0.05, OR = 3.922) were more willing to pay for insurance premium. Workers who received better exposure of national health insurance information (p < 0.05, OR = 2.330) were more willing to pay for premium. Furthermore, workers who uneducated (p < 0.05, OR = 14.847) were more willing to pay for premium. The national health insurance campaign serves as a catalyst for increasing public awareness of this program. Adequate and widespread national health insurance program information dissemination would aid in the effectiveness of Indonesia's efforts to achieve the goal of universal health insurance coverage.
