Abstract

This paper aims to critically explore interpretation result of QS. Al-Taubah/9:71 in Tafsir Qur’an Tematik by The Ministry of Religion Affairs Republic of Indonesia. This conducted because it is suspected that it contains a gender bias interpretation. This research used a critical qualitative-interpretative design by investigating the interpretation of QS. al-Taubah / 9: 71 using a contextualization interpretation. The findings reveal that the Thematic Interpretation of Al-Quran by the Ministry of Religion affairs published for the first time in 2009 represents the interpretation of the QS. al-Taubah/9: 71 as legitimacy of limiting the area of political leadership for women. Therefore, the product of such interpretations tends to be bias because it limits the area of state leadership based on a particular gender. This interpretation seems to contrast with the meaning of the significance of the verse that is found through the exploration of textual, contextual-historical, and dynamic contextual approaches. The meaning of the significance obtained from this verse only discusses about the socio-spiritual relationship in the internal Muslim community, not in the political context. The same results can also be seen in Tafsir al-Wajiz, in which the work is also the interpretation of the Ministry of Religion published in 2016, as well as the interpretation of scholars in various classical commentaries. The implication of the results of the interpretation of gender bias in Tafsir Qur’an Tematik can have an impact toward government policies in positioning positions for women in the society, especially in the area of the structural leadership of the country.

Abstract

This article examines the reception of the pattula’ bala’ in the tradition of the Bugis Muslim community. The tradition is important to study because it is still trapped in a theological debate regarding its position as part of acculturation. This study uses field data sources collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Besides, literature data sources are also used to trace the history of hadith and the history of Islamic civilization. The data is processed and analyzed using reception and genealogy to find the historical connection between Islamic teachings and local traditions. It argues that the tradition of the pattula’ bala’ perceived by the Bugis Muslim community was discursive tradition, because they believed it based on transmitted from the Hadith, the practice of Sahaba, and other works of literature from the scholars. Besides, the tradition is not only as a tabarruk but also functions as a panoptic that motivates its users to be more active in practicing worship and avoiding all immoral acts.

Abstract

This research deals with the placing of the singular in the meaning of the plural in the Quranic verses and the words of the Arabs. Hence, the problem of research is as follows: How did the linguists view the singular status of the plural? Was the use of singular in the meaning of the plural valid for all single words? The type of research used in this field is descriptive qualitative research, using the analytical method of grammar, and the technique of a collection consists of the library method. The result of the study answers this problem and that the advent of the singular in the meaning of the plural is not denounced by the Arabs if the speech is evidence of its collection. This method is mentioned in the Holy Quran and the words of the Arabs. However, not every single word is valid for the meaning of the plural without evidence

Abstract

يتناول هذا البحث إشكالية المناهج التربوية المعاصرة وحلها في ضوء القرآنية (دراسة تفسيرية موضوعية في مجال مناهج التربية الصالحة), نريد أن نرى الحقيقة التربية في إندونيسيا لا سيما في الجامعة الإسلامية الحكمية كنداري, من حيث المنهج في التربوية, وتتعلق بمختلف المسائل المتعلقة بالتربية. لأننا لا نريد لأولادنا يكون ضعف في التعليم بحيث أنها يمكن أن تؤثر على سلوكهم كما يفعل عندما كانوا لا يعرفون الرضى بالعجز, ولا يقع نهبة لليأس, ولا ينخدع بالمظاهر, ولا بالمناصب, ولكن نريد لأولادنا أن يكون يعرف متى يتكلم, وفي أي شيء يتكلم, وما فائدة هذا التكلم, ويعرف متى يسكت, وما فائدة سكوته, وما ضرره ويكون معيار سكوته هذا الدين القويم بمستوى جيد من تعليم حتى يعرفون كيفية التواصل والانخراط في المجتمع كما يقول الله تعلي في القرآن الكريم بقوله :" ادْعُ إِلَى سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ وَجادِلْهُمْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ" (النحل:125). اتبع الباحث في دراسته علي الطريقة الوصفية في جمع الآيات القرأن الكريم و بعض من الأحاديث النبوية, وأقوال علماء التربية في نواحيها المتعددة التي المتعلقة عن التربية, ومشاكلها, وحلها, علي منهج الإستنباط و لإستخراج, والتحليل.وجد الباحث عند البحث في آيات القرآن الكريم عن أساليب التربية, وهو كتاب يحث العقل على العمل, يدعوه تارة للتفكر علي أحوال الأمم, والبحث عن أسباب خطيئتهم ومن ثمَّ هلاكهم, يدعوه للمقارنة بين النافع والضار, يشعل في النفوس الحماس بالترغيب في الصالحة أو النصرة أو الفوز. ولإعداد أولادنا أو الطلبة و لايمكن أن يكون إلا من خلال التربية الصالحة التي حسب الباحث, ثم بين بعضاً منها في أبرز المشكلات التربوية المعاصرة, خاصة عن الطريقة المربين في التدريس علي الطلاب في الجامعة, ومع ذلك نقدم في هذه البحث علي كيفية حلها في ضوء القرآن الكريم.

Abstract

This article focuses on the study of the contextualization of the meaning of the ḥadīth about tashabbuh using both macro and micro socio-historical study approach. The study was conducted to find the significance of the meaning contained in the ḥadīth about the prohibition of tashabbuh, using the study of ḥadīth literature and historical sources. The results of the study found that; (1) the study of the ḥadīth about the prohibition of tashabbuh cannot be understood by only using a textual-literal approach, because it can only narrow down the meaning of ḥadīth, so it is more likely to lead to a fundamentalist-radicalist understanding; (2) Studying the ḥadīths is to find the meaning behind the text, context, and contextualization of the ḥadīth, theologically normative aims to maintain the faith dan the belief in tawḥīd, while socially cultural aims to realize the Islamic foundation as tolerance and raḥmah; (3) there are two types of tashabbuh in the theological-normative domain; showing absolute prohibition, and social welfare; showing skill as long as it does not conflict with the basic rules of sharī'ah and realizes maṣlaḥah for human life.

Abstract

This article examines the interpretation of QS. al-Araf [7]: 11-25 by dialoguing the story of the Success of Adam and social reality. Dialogue that discusses the issue of the history of hoax, the strategy of making hoax, the impact, and handling of hoax issues. This research uses qualitative with hermeneutics ma'na-cum-maghza  theory. This interpretation shows that hoax are phenomena that have existed since the beginning of human kind (Prophet Adam). The unfair contestation and an inability to accept differences caused the policy tendency. This hoax strategy is carried out through logical agreement and approving of oaths that seem right. How to handle habits can only be done through internalizing the nature of sincerity and waiting as a form of grace to accept all forms of diversity, and to cultivate a critical nature of all information received. Besides, the government also needs to take and resolve not only to provide punishment to the victims but also need to get rehabilitation to avoid prolonged depression

Abstract

Abstrak: Al-Hurûf al-muqaththa‘ah di dalam al-Qur’an dipandang oleh sebagian umat Islam tekstualis hanya sebagai simbol yang sakral tanpa makna, sehingga tidak menunjukkan sisi kemanfatannya sebagai pedoman. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap makna ayat al-hurûf al-muqaththa‘ah dalam Q.S. al-Baqarah/2: 1., dengan menggunakan metode kajian literatur yang meliputi tafsir, sastra bahasa Arab dan sejarah. Analisis data menggunakan pendekatan gramatikal bahasa Arab secara tekstual dan historis secara kontekstual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa al-hurûf al-muqaththa‘ah menjadi potret bagi sumber dan proses turunnya al-Qur’an secara autentik yang menunjukkan kelemahan sastra Arab saat berhadapan dengan wahyu. Keistimewaan al-hurûf al-muqaththa‘ah terletak pada nilai sastra dan kedalaman makna yang seyogianya dapat berperan aktif sebagai perekat ayat-ayat al-Qur’an lainnya secara holistik.Abstract: The Interpretation Discourse of Verses of al-Hurûf al-Muqaththa‘ah: Textual and Contextual Analysis. This article aims to reveal the meaning of the verse al-hurûf al-muqaththa‘ah in the Q.S. al-Baqarah/2: 1 by employing a historical and literature review method with textual and historical context grammatical approaches data analysis. The results of the study show that it portray the source and process of authentic Qur’an revelation. The mysterious eloquence of al-hurûf al-muqaththa‘ah lies in the literary value and the depth of meaning even though it consists only of a series of letters. The effort of the commentator to uncover the meaning of the verses of al-hurûf al-muqaththa‘ah should be able to play an active role as the uniting factor for other Qur’anic verses holistically. Therefore, a set of methods or approaches is required that is adequate to uncover the meaning that is in accordance with the thematic contexts of the verse.Kata Kunci: al-hurûf al-muqaththa‘âh, pendekatan tekstual, pendekatan kontekstual, penafsiran, al-Qur’an

Abstract

This article focuses on the study of dynamics and the application of contextual interpretation methodologies, so that the Qur'an does not tend to only be understood as limited to literal meaning, as well as the scope of understanding the Qur'an is not only bound by place and time when it is revealed, so it rigid to apply to the present. Hermeneutic theory has been widely studied and developed by Muslim and orientalism, although the emergence of hermeneutic theory is accompanied by dynamics of difference, both pragmatically and historically, but these differences have become a motivation for academics to further develop these theories towards more good One form of development shown by the adoption of the theory of ma’na-cum-maghza initiated by Sahiron Syamsuddin can be an alternative and a solution to get out of literal and liberal claims in interpreting the Qur'an In this article the author includes one form of application of the hermeneutic theory ma’na-cum-maghza by exploring the meaning of QS. Al-Ma'un / 107: 1-7, to uncover the side of differences in textual (classical) interpretation and interpretation contextual, especially the social view of the understanding of the sura. The result is that QS, Al-Ma'un / 107: 1-7 is full of social meanings that are very closely related and have a reciprocal relationship between theological-normative meanings and social meanings expressed in the surah.

Abstract

This research aims to determine whether or not revivalism ideology exists among academics in Islamic higher education institutes in the province of Southeast Sulawesi. It is accomplished through the use of an exegetical reception approach of their understanding of the Āyāt at-Taḥkīm (Qur’an chapter al-Mā’idah [5]:44-47). Data was gathered by combining survey technique development with in-depth interviews. The collected data was analyzed using a philosophical and phenomenological hermeneutic approach to assess the academic community’s understanding of Āyāt at-Taḥkīm. According to the survey results, Āyāt at-Taḥkīm is very popular among academics higher education institutes in Southeast Sulawesi. Most of the academic community’s information comes from religious studies on social media. They acknowledge and accept these verses as the foundation for the legitimacy of kāffah enforcement of Islamic law as the foundation for Indonesia’s political system. Meanwhile, the interviews show that most informants label those who disagree with the discourse with theological labels (kāfir and thāgūt). As a result, even though these characteristics have not reached an extreme level, their comprehension is included in the revivalism ideology’s characteristics.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menakar eksistensi karakteristik ideologi revivalisme di kalangan sivitas akademika, khususnya di perguruan tinggi yang berada di wilayah provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara, Indonesia. Ini dilakukan dengan menerapkan pendekatan resepsi eksegesis atas pemahaman mereka terhadap Āyāt at-Taḥkīm (Q. al-Mā’idah [5]:44-47). Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui elaborasi antara teknik survey dan wawancara mendalam secara bersamaan. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis mengggunakan pendekatan hermeneutika filosofis dan fenomenologis guna menakar pemahaman sivitas akademika terhadap Āyāt at-Taḥkīm. Hasil survey membuktikan bahwa Āyāt at-Taḥkīm cukup populer bagi kalangan sivitas akademika di Sulawesi Tenggara. Informasi tentangnya mayoritas diakses oleh sivitas akademika dari kajian-kajian keagamaan di media sosial. Mereka mengenal dan memahami ayat-ayat itu sebagai basis legitimasi wajibnya penegakan syariat Islam secara kāffah sebagai basis sistem politik pemerintahan di Indonesia. Sedangkan hasil wawancara membuktikan bahwa mayoritas informan menggunakan label-label teologis (kāfir dan thāgūt) terhadap orang-orang yang menolak wacana tersebut. Meskipun pemahaman mereka dapat dikategorikan mengandung karakteristik ideologi revivalisme, tetapi belum termasuk level yang ekstrem, sehingga masih berpeluang bagi mereka untuk mendapatkan pembinaan.
