Abstract

AbstractPhysics is one of the subjects that is often considered difficult by students, whereas Hewitt (2006) stated that physics is a foundation of science which studies nature’s orderliness. If student’s learning obstacles continue to come up, then their potential on physics concepts couldn’t be optimally developed. This research is conducted to observe student’s learning obstacles towards physics concept, especially on energy and kinetic energy concept, and to build a didactical design of learning which is capable to minimize stated learning obstacles. This is a qualitative descriptive research based on Didactical Design Research (DDR). Learning obstacle observed on this research is associated with epistemological obstacle. Didactical design implementation has been applied on the research subject, second grade high school students, and resulted a revision of initial design which can be used as an alternative to learn energy and kinetic energy concepts. Almost all of the student’s learning obstacles’s percentage has been decreased after initial didactical design implementation. Some of the learning obstacles have been resolved while another still happens with a lower percentage. Thus, the remaining obstacles are the focus of the didactical design revision development.Keywords: Didactical Design ResearchAbstrakFisika merupakan salah satu mata pelajaran yang seringkali dianggap sulit oleh siswa. Sementara menurut Hewitt (2006) fisika adalah fondasi dari ilmu sains yang mempelajari keteraturan alam. Apabila kesulitan yang dialami siswa terus muncul, potensi dalam diri siswa pada konsep-konsep fisika menjadi tidak dapat berkembang secara optimal. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menggali kesulitan belajar yang dimiliki siswa terkait konsep fisika, khususnya pada konsep energi dan energi kinetik, beserta dengan desain didaktis pembelajaran yang dapat meminimalisir temuan kesulitan belajar siswa terkait konsep tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif yang pelaksanaannya mengacu pada Didactical Design Research (DDR). Kesulitan belajar yang digali dalam penelitian ini adalah kesulitan belajar terkait dengan epistemological obstacle. Implementasi desain didaktis berdasarkan temuan kesulitan belajar telah dilakukan pada subjek penelitian siswa SMA kelas XI dan menghasilkan desain didaktis revisi yang dapat menjadi alternatif pembelajaran konsep energi dan energi kinetik. Hampir seluruh tipe kesulitan belajar yang dimiliki siswa telah mengalami penurunan persentase melalui implementasi desain didaktis awal yang dibuat berdasarkan kesulitan belajar siswa. Beberapa kesulitan belajar telah mampu teratasi seluruhnya, dan beberapa kesulitan lainnya telah masih muncul dengan persentase kesulitan yang lebih rendah. Kesulitan belajar yang masih muncul ini dijadikan fokus dalam pembuatan desain didaktis revisi.Kata-kata kunci: Penelitian Desain Didakstis

Abstract

The purpose of study is to determine the feasibility of learning processes and increase science literacy skills of learners using 'Accelerated Learning' model of learning on the material substance and its form. The method used in this research is pre-experiment. The study was conducted in Triyasa junior high school Bandung class VII-B. The sample in the study were 48 students who were selected using random sampling techniques. Data keterlaksanaan activity of teacher and students is obtained through observation sheets, while data on the literacy skills of learners is obtained through the test description. The results obtained in this study: (1) feasibility study by using 'Accelerated Learning' 'model of learning' is in very good category; (2) the literacy skills of learners sins increase in gain results. The magnitude of the increase scientific literacy of students can be seen from the average N-Gain learners of 0.56 categorized being. Thus there is increasing scientific literacy capability of learners through the 'Accelerated Learning' model of learning in material substance and its form.

Abstract

Didactical Design Research (DDR) is a qualitative research with descriptive methods. Aim to make learning design in order to minimize the difficulties of students in Pascal's Law. The population in this research is class X MAN Cililin, while a sampling technique is purposive sampling. The first step for know the student’s learning difficulties in Pascal's Law with knowing Learning Obstacle which this research only focused on epistemology obstacle, so the students of class XI MAN Cililin who had studied Pascal's Law given five numbers essay. From the student’s answers obtained data the student’s learning difficulties in Pascal's Law. From the difficulty of the data, created learning design be adapted with the student’s learning difficulties in Pascal's Law. The design is implemented always improved in every meeting. This is done, and the design can be made better, so that student’s learning difficulties in Pascal's Law can be minimized.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in mastery of the concept of high school students after the implementation of a multi-representation approach to guided inquiry learning that has been adapted to student learning styles on Work material. The research method used was quasi experimental using one group pre-test post-test design. The research sample was students of class X MIPA 6 at one school in SMA Negeri in Bandung, totaling 36 students. The research instrument used was a test of mastery of the concept, a VARK learning style questionnaire, a student response questionnaire, and an observation sheet. Based on the findings of the paired t-test, the absolute value of t is 21.16 and t-table is 2.03, so H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. The results of this research, there is a significant influence on the application of multi-representation approaches to guided inquiry learning that is adapted to student’s VARK learning styles. Also seen the overall gain test results obtained a gain value of 0.561 in the medium category. The gain value obtained by students with kinesthetic learning style is greater than students who have visual, aural, read/write, and multimodal learning style, with a value of 0.584 in medium category. And the study group that gets the greatest gain is the learning group two and the learning group three with the gain value 0.612 with the medium category.

Abstract

Currently, 21st-century skills are needed by students, especially Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), to meet the needs of the rapidly growing world of work. It is necessary to provide debriefing during learning activities to meet these needs. Besides that, a quality instrument is needed to measure the skills of each student, the more information that the instrument can provide shows that the instrument is getting better. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of the Higher Order Thinking Skills test on momentum and impulse consisting of validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discrimination index based on item response theory analysis. The method used in this research is a descriptive method with a quantitative approach and a One-Shot Design research design. The population was second-year senior high school students in Bandung. Meanwhile, the sample of this study consisted of 122 second-year senior high school students who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was the Higher Order Thinking Skills test on momentum and impulse. Based on the result, 16 items were categorized as valid. Besides, the reliability of the test instrument was good. For the level of difficulty, an item was categorized as very difficult, an item was difficult, twelve items were medium, three items were easy, and an item was very easy. Lastly, for the discrimination index, thirteen items were considered good, and five items did not classify as good.

Abstract

Based on previous research through the questionnaire and test in one of the High School in Bandung, more than 50% of students experienced epistemological learning obstacles on the dynamic fluid material and 66,2% students couldn’t answer the test about Bernoulli’s principle. The aim of this study is to identify the student’s epistemological learning obstacles profile of grade XI Bernoulli’s principle material, based on the respondent’s ability test. Epistemological learning obstacles occur due to limitation of knowledge to a certain concept and it will lead to obstacles in using their knowledge when facing different concept. The method is qualitative descriptive, combined with the historical approach analysis through the respondent’s ability test in the form of three essays covering essential concepts of Bernoulli’s principle, which given to the students in one of the High School in Bandung. The average score 68,27% is the students who experienced obstacles about Bernoulli’s equation in Torricelli’s principle, 95,36% is the students facing obstacles about Bernoulli’s equation in Venturi’s principle, and 87,05% the students obstacles on Bernoulli’s principle in aircraft lift force. The conclusion is the encounter of epistemological learning obstacles on Bernoulli’s principle material, there must be effort to minimize learning obstacles. Abstract

Based on preliminary studies through questionnaire, test, and interviews, known that 52,12% students have been experiencing epistemological learning obstacles on energy and its transformation subject which is due to the limited context in comprehending a concept, and more than 50% students haven’t able yet in doing the task with energy and its transformations. The objective of this study is to acknowledge the epistemological learning obstacles in 8th grade students on energy and its transformation subject based on respondents ability test analysis results. This study held with a qualitative descriptive method with historical approach analysis using respondents ability test which is a written essay test consists of five questions that cover energy and its transformation essential matter which were given to the students who had learned about energy and its transformation in one of public junior high school in Bandung Barat Regency. The result shows that 83,3% students experienced obstacles in determining the relation between velocity and kinetic energy, 86,11% in determining the relation between height and potential energy, 100% in determining the amount of produced energy compared to used energy in energy transformation concept, also 88,89% in applying the concept of conservation of energy in free fall motion case. Abstract

Results of a preliminary study conducted by researchers through test and questionnaire obtained 51.5% of students experienced epistemological learning obstacles on the ideal gas equation. Epistemological learning obstacles occur due to one’s limit only to a certain concept. This study aimed to identify the student’s epistemological learning obstacles profile ideal gas equation material based on the analysis tests the ability of respondents. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive, combined with the historical approach analysis through the respondent’s ability test, in the form of four essays covering essential concept of the ideal gas equation, which given to the students in one High School in Bandung, who had learned about ideal gas equation.The results showed that students experiencing epistemological learning obstacles on the material ideal gas equation, including in identifying problems including process isotermik, interpreting graphs on isobaric process, determine the number of particles that come out on the tank leaked on the concept of equality ideal gas, and apply the concept of mass meetings in equation ideal gas in the case of a hot air balloon. Abstract

In a previous study, which observed and conducted in one of Senior High School in Bandung, using the tests and questionnaires regarding the continuity equation the result shows 60,53% (from the questionnaire) students answer that the continuity equation is difficult to deal with, and 52,71% students (test) students could not answer the test. The aim of this study is to know the learning obstacle of students using the respondent capably test in a continuity equation subject for XI high school students. The learning obstacle that has been studied is the epistemological is the limitation of student to understand the certain content of a particular subject. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method using the history analysis approach in Respondent Capability Test. In this approach, the researchers formed questionnaires essay type in which includes the essential sub-subject from continuity equation. The result of the test shows that students are having epistemological learning obstacles in continuity equation, which include the understanding of ideal fluid observed from current type, incorrect in answering the velocity in the cross-sectional area in question, and could not indicate the volume flow rate given case questionnaire. Abstract

Based on the result of a preliminary study, through questionnaire and test showed the learning obstacle experienced by students is still high. Through questionnaires obtained 44.45% of the students and through tests obtained 66.66% of students experiencing learning obstacle on the liquid’s pressure. The purpose of the study to determine the eighth grade student’s epistemological learning obstacle on the liquid’s pressure based on the respondent’s ability test. The method used is descriptive qualitative method uses respondents ability test. Research subject is 39 students in ninth grade in one High School in Bandung. The results of the respondent’s ability test, indicate that as many as 45.72% of students experiencing learning obstacle to the concept of the Law of Archimedes, 36.33% on the concept of the Law of Pascal, 25% on the concept of density, and 17.44% on the concept of hydrostatic pressure. It was concluded that the students experienced the biggest learning obstacle to the concept of Pascal's Law and the Law of Archimedes. So there should be an attempt to minimize these obstacles.
