Abstract

Background. Indonesia has become the country with the highest elderly population in Southeast Asia which around 27 million people within 2020. Demographic bonus, where the productive age is higher than the non-productive age, should be optimized so that it becomes an opportunity to decrease the dependency ratio of the elderly over 65 years. However, increasing life expectancy has other implications which as the increase in health problems associated with the aging process, including the emergence of degenerative diseases. The concept of healthy aging formed due to the increase of public awareness to live within quality life and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through physical activity and good nutrition. Healthy aging is the process of developing and maintaining the functional ability that enables wellbeing in older age. Lifestyle improvement from the early stage will have a better effect on a person's lifelong health. Unfortunately, it is not widely known by the public, so awareness is not yet evident and benefits cannot be obtained optimally.Objectives. Healthy aging is the process of developing and maintaining the functional ability that enables wellbeing in older age. The aim of this review is to raise awareness among the adult age group about the important role of physical activity and nutrition in achieving a healthy aging condition.Discussion. American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend adults aged 18–65 year to participate in moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity for a minimum of 30 minutes on five days per week, or vigorous-intensity aerobic activity for a minimum of 20 minutes on three days per week. Moreover, recent WHO (2020) guideline towards physical activity and sedentary behavior recommend all adults to have moderate-intensity for 150 – 300 min or vigorous-intensity for 75 – 150 min per week. But this recommendation has not been able to reduce physical inactivity number in Indonesian society, especially adult and senior adult. There are some nutrition elements related to mobility health, mainly are protein, vitamin D, calcium, antioxidant and omega-3, and many studies report that Indonesian adults suffer deficiencies on these nutrition elements and cause health problems related to mobility. Health interventions should involved many stakeholders, e.g government, private sectors, NGO, mass media, and many more. Conclusions: The concept of healthy aging and interventions related to this need to be recognized and implemented as early as possible to get optimal results, and preferably starting from adulthood. Health interventions carried out must be holistic and synergize between physical activity, nutrition, mental health and other factors that play a role. A community-based approach is the easiest and fastest way to change mindsets and behavior patterns, and can be implemented in the work environment or other communities.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: Low back pain (LBP) interferes with daily activities, which is why monitoring offunctional disability is important. Non-urgent hospital visits are reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Functional disability questionnaires serve as an alternative fo r patients to self-monitor their condition. Methods: This case-based study aimed to compare the Quebec Back Pain Disability Scale (QBPDS) withthe Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) on their responsiveness in assessing functional disability of patientswith LBP. Four databases (PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane, and Embase) were searched for literature. Twoeligible studies were included in this report. The studies were assessed using the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine critical appraisal tool for diagnostic studies. Data collected on the responsiveness ofODI and QBPDS were measured using the area under the curve (AUC) of a receiver operating curve(ROC), sensitivity, and specificity.Result: Both studies reported higher AUC values for ODI than QBPDS. One study reported highersensitivity in ODI and identical specificity values for both ODI and QBPDS. QBPDS has comparableresponsiveness to ODI in assessing functional disability of pat ients with LBP.Conclusion: Therefore, patients with low back pain can self-monitor their condition with QPBDS, as itis comparable to ODI and suitable for self-monitor during the C OVID-19 pandemicKeywords: assessment, disability evaluation, low back pain, musculoskeletal pain, surveys andquestionnaires

Abstract

Relatively tight working hours are problems for employees in urban areas, affecting less time for physical activities. About 59% of office workers in Jakarta are classified as sedentary. The high number of sedentary workers can cause productivity problems due to low fitness. Appropriate interventions are needed to overcome it. We have done literature searches from 7 journal databases in the last 20 years, including ScienceDirect, EBSCOhost, PubMed, ProQuest, Scopus, ClinicalKey, and Cochrane. Inclusion criteria include research design in the form of systematic review/meta-analysis/randomized controlled trials, outcomes in the form of physical fitness or work performance, and interventions in the form of workplace exercise or stretching. Three selected articles showed a significant relationship (p-value <0.05) between programmed physical exercise at work and several fitness factors, such as decreased body fat and fat mass, increased lean mass, and increased sit-up and push-up fitness test results. Physical activity at work decreased cardiovascular risk as assessed by VO2max. In conclusion, physical activity during working hours effectively improves health-related fitness. The minimal intervention types needed are aerobics, strength training, and muscle endurance. We recommend providing interventions for workplace fitness and education programs (WFEP).

Abstract

Security officers require good physical fitness to perform their duties effectively. Maintaining this level of fitness often involves structured exercise programs that consider the frequency, intensity, duration, and type of activity. This study aims to examine the relationship between a structured physical exercise program, individual factors, and work-related factors on the physical fitness of security officers. This study was conducted in July 2023 and utilized company program data from March to June 2023, focusing on 67 security officers at PT X. Physical fitness data was collected using the Cooper test method and analyzed using SPSS. Data normality was assessed using the skewness/standard error method, with values <2 considered normally distributed. A paired sample t-test revealed a significant relationship between Cooper test distances before and after participation in the structured exercise program (p<0.001). Further analysis demonstrated relationships between changes in physical fitness and several factors: work fatigue (p<0.001), work stress dimensions (specifically work overload, role conflict, quantitative and qualitative workload excess, career development, and responsibility to others, all with p<0.014), and sleep quality (p<0.001). The coefficient of determination (r2) was 0.496, indicating that work fatigue, role conflict, and sleep quality collectively explain 49.6% of the variance in physical fitness changes. The remaining variance is likely influenced by factors not included in the model. Multivariate analysis confirmed that work fatigue (p<0.001), role conflict (p=0.036), and sleep quality (p=0.015) were predictors of changes in physical fitness. In conclusion, a structured physical exercise program has a positive influence on the physical fitness of security officers. Furthermore, work fatigue, work stress (particularly role conflict), and sleep quality are associated with changes in physical fitness among these officers.

Abstract

Background: The increasing availability of mobile games and expandinng access to devices have contributed to the growing prevalence of Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), particularly among adolescents. The IGD is associated with impaired well-being and functioning, including sleep, psychological, academic, and social problems. However, evidence regarding effective school-based interventions remains limited. This study aimed to explore the prevalence of IGD among junior high school students in public and private schools in Jakarta, Indonesia. Methods: An analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 2,320 junior high school students from January to August 2025. Demographic data were collected using a basic questionnaire, and IGD was assessed using the Internet Gaming Disorder Test-10 (IGDT-10). Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test and Mann–Whitney test with SPSS version 23.0Results: The prevalence of Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) among junior high school adolescents in Jakarta was 2.2%. In private school, IGD was significantly associated with duration of gaming ≥4 hours/day and male gender, whereas in public school, IGD was significantly associated with the use of multiple gaming devices. Conclusions: The prevalence of IGD among junior high school students in Jakarta was 2.2%. Factors associated with IGD varied between public and private schools, suggesting that prevention strategies should be tailored to the school context. Early identification of excessive gaming behaviors may support adolescent well-being and healthy development.
