Abstract

Gibran's candidacy as Vice President in the 2024 election is a new phenomenon in Indonesian politics. The reason is, that Gibran was chosen by Prabowo as his running mate in the election contestation at a young age. This reaps diverse perceptions, including Generation Z where researchers conduct research. The purpose of this study is to determine Generation Z's perception of Gibran's candidacy as Vice President in the 2024 election. In this study, researchers used qualitative research methods with a phenomenological approach. Based on the results, the perception of Generation Z towards Gibran's nomination as Vice Presidential Candidate in the 2024 election has positive and negative perceptions that arise based on three things, namely sensation, attention, and interpretation by each Generation Z. Positive perceptions are formed because the information obtained by generation Z is related to Gibran's track record of ability in handling the City of Solo, as a form of proof that young people are capable of becoming leaders, and as a novelty in the world of Indonesian politics. Negative perceptions are present because the information received by Generation Z related to Gibran's nomination at a young age cannot be separated from the efforts of the Constitutional Court as Gibran's uncle passed Gibran's age, and Gibran's nomination was likely planned

Abstract

Many cases of cyberbullying happen to teenagers, but in Indonesia the empirical topic of cyberbullying has not been widely used, especially in rural adolescents in coastal areas, especially Pematang Guntung Village. This paper aims to analyze cases of cyberbullying in Pematang Gunung Village on social media. The method used in this research is qualitative. The research location in this study was carried out in the coastal area of ​​Pematang Guntung Village by determining which informants would be used to obtain data. The researcher used purposive sampling technique. The results showed that most of the teenagers in the coastal area of ​​Pematang Guntung Village knew about cyberbullying on social media. This is because the phenomenon of cyberbullying is not something new and they often encounter them on their social media accounts, especially on Facebook and Instagram. However, teenagers on the coast of Pematang Guntung Village still do not understand cyberbullying in the literature, starting from the definition of cyberbullying, the types of cyberbullying, and regulations regarding cyberbullying. This is because the phenomenon of cyberbullying is not new and they often encounter them on their social media accounts, especially on Facebook and Instagram.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of social media on the development of narcissistic behavior among students in Medan City, Indonesia. The research employs a qualitative, descriptive approach to understand how social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, and others contribute to both narcissism’s positive and negative aspects. Interviews with respondents reveal a mixed perception of narcissism, with some viewing it as a form of self-appreciation within reasonable limits. In contrast, others see it as an unhealthy phase with negative implications. The study highlights that social media facilitates personality formation and boosts self-confidence but also fosters narcissistic tendencies through excessive self-promotion and attention-seeking behaviors. It concludes that while most respondents do not exhibit severe narcissistic behavior, the potential for harm necessitates mindful social media usage. Recommendations include engaging in meaningful activities, fostering empathy, and providing counseling services to mitigate the adverse effects of narcissism.

Abstract

The emergence of the behavior of teenagers who experience character growth often shows negative behavior such as bullying. Based on data from the National Commission for Child Protection, the number of bullying cases among Indonesian teenagers is in fifth place out of 78 countries with the highest number of bullying cases. Efforts to eliminate this action by using family communication. The role of interpersonal communication in the family as a form of overcoming bullying behavior in adolescents. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method which aims to collect data related to family interpersonal communication, in this case carried out by parents in dealing with bullying behavior among teenagers in Medan City. The data collection technique in this research uses interview techniques with parents who have teenage children who are victims of random bullying, observation of activities carried out by parents with children in dealing with bullying behavior in children as well as documentation in the form of other supporting documents. The results of interpersonal communication research conducted by parents with teenagers in dealing with bullying behavior by communicating openly, honestly and being able to listen can prevent bullying behavior among teenagers. The role of the family must be to build communication between parents and children so that it runs smoothly, by actively listening and showing love and attention, so that the tendency of bullying behavior can be prevented and stopped by parents in the family.

Abstract

Film ketika berhenti disini merupakan film cerita panjang dengan kategori film drama, yang menceritakan tentang kehidupan wanita yang mengalami perasaan tidak percaya diri, konflik, rasa bersalah, kehilangan orang yang dicintai, kesulitan untuk menerima kenyataan, dan perjalanan menuju penerimaan. Selain itu, film ini juga memasukkan teknologi canggih Augmented Reality (AR) dalam bentuk kacamata dan menggunakan konsep mandala dalam budaya jawa yang menggambarkan nafus-nafsu manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna pesan moral  Pada Film Ketika Berhenti Disini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis semiotika Roland Barthes, yang meliputi Denotasi, Konotasi, dan Mitos untuk mengidentifikasi tanda-tanda yang terlihat secara langsung dan menggali makna yang tersembunyi di balik tanda-tanda tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film Ketika Berhenti disini menyampaikan pesan moral tentang pentingnya menerima kehilangan, bergerak maju, dan menemukan makna baru dalam kehidupan. Film ini mengingatkan bahwa meskipun kehilangan itu menyakitkan, hidup harus terus berjalan, dan kebahagiaan dapat ditemukan kembali jika kita berani melepaskan masa lalu
