The aim of this research was to analyze the perception of fish farmers towards the role of fisheries extension workers in fostering fish farming businesses in Loa Kulu District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. This study used the method of analyzing the level of perception of fish farmers; analysis of the profile and characteristics of fish farmers; and Spearman Rank correlation analysis. The results showed that the level of perception of fish farmers towards the role of fisheries extension workers as educators, facilitators, motivators, innovators, advocates, organizers and evaluators was included in the high/good category. The fish farmers in this study consisted of 37 men and 5 women with different characteristics. Internal factors (age, income and land area) and external factors (interaction with extension workers; interaction with traders; availability of market information and availability of aquaculture science and technology) were significantly correlated with the perception of fish farmers towards fisheries extension workers
