Abstract

Maju Jaya is a furniture manufacturer in Surabaya that faces challenges in managing raw materials, especially camphor wood lonjoran, which causes production delays and customer dissatisfaction. This study aims to improve efficiency through forecasting raw material requirements using the Exponential Smoothing method with alpha 0.2, which has been proven to produce the lowest MAD value. The forecast results are used in production planning using the Chase Strategy method to flexibly adjust workforce capacity. Material Requirements Planning (MRP) analysis shows the need for repurchasing certain raw materials to prevent shortages. Stock monitoring and timely procurement of raw materials are recommended to ensure smooth operations and meet delivery schedules.

This study uses quantitative methods and aims to provide inventory control proposals using forecasting analysis and continuous review systems and to find out the root cause of the gallon cap product defects at UD XYZ. The results obtained are obtaining the procurement cost of Aqua HDPE Plastic, which has savings of Rp9,187,465.00. For the procurement cost of Dark Blue HDPE Plastic, there is a savings of Rp6,770,828.50. For the procurement cost of Dark Blue HDPE Plastic, there is a savings of Rp14,079,792.00. For the procurement cost of Light Blue HDPE Plastic, there is a savings of Rp16,365,627.50. For the procurement cost of White HDPE Plastic, there is a savings of Rp36,853,183.50. For the procurement cost of Light Blue HDPE Plastic, there is a savings of Rp26,275,091.00. It can be seen that the total inventory cost using the continuous review method is considered more efficient and can also have safety stock and reorder points.

Abstract

This study explores the service quality of J-Cello Vermak, a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) in the garment repair sector, and assesses customer satisfaction using the SERVQUAL method. Established in 2021, the SME faced difficulties in collecting objective data on satisfaction, particularly regarding timeliness, stitching quality, and Responsiveness. A quantitative descriptive method using questionnaires and interviews was used, analyzed using validity and Reliability tests and gap analysis across five SERVQUAL dimensions: Tangibles, Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance, and Empathy. The results indicate generally positive customer satisfaction, with positive gaps across all dimensions. Assurance and Empathy had the highest gaps, reflecting employee trust and Empathy. However, Responsiveness needs improvement due to its lowest gap, indicating a need for faster service. Correlation and regression indicate a weak positive relationship between service quality and satisfaction. Recommendations focus on improving speed, Responsiveness, and ongoing quality management for customer loyalty and competitiveness. These findings are important for the business strategy of SMEs in the garment alteration  service sector. Abstract

Productivity is one of the key factors in enhancing industrial competitiveness, particularly in the furniture manufacturing sector. This study aims to analyze the types and sources of waste occurring in the production process at UD. Sinar Indah and to formulate improvement strategies to increase productivity. The research applies the lean manufacturing approach by identifying the seven types of waste commonly found in production activities. Data were collected through direct observation on the shop floor, interviews with employees, and process time recording. The findings indicate that the most dominant wastes are waiting time and inefficient movements, which significantly affect productivity levels. Recommended improvements include workplace layout rearrangement, standardization of procedures, and enhancement of operator skills. By implementing these improvements, UD. Sinar Indah has the potential to increase productivity while reducing production costs.

Abstract

The development of production needs at CV. Berdikari requires the company to have optimal work capacity to meet market demand. However, actual conditions show a high workload and overtime hours in the production department. This study aims to analyze the level of work activity, measure the workload, determine optimal labor requirements, and evaluate alternatives for fulfilling work capacity. The Work Sampling method was used to randomly observe worker activities to obtain the proportion of productive, indirect, and non-productive time. The results showed that productive activity was in the high category, reflecting good work efficiency. However, the total overtime hours from January to June 2025 reached 2,339 hours, indicating that regular labor capacity was inadequate. Based on standard time calculations, the optimal labor requirement is 3–4 people.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors causing delays in product delivery from PT. Miss Clean Indonesia to four main warehouses, which resulted in stock shortages and reduced customer satisfaction. Delivery delays reached 35% in June 2025. The research aims to identify the root causes of these delays and propose improvement strategies using the Fishbone Diagram and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). The Fishbone analysis shows that the primary cause is the misalignment between production scheduling and delivery schedules, while additional issues include limited daily production capacity, machine downtime, and weak coordination between divisions. The FMEA results confirm this finding, with the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) of 315 assigned to production scheduling failures. To address these problems, a Master Production Schedule (MPS) was developed to synchronize production with warehouse demand. The implementation of the schedule improved delivery accuracy and enhanced overall operational efficiency.

Abstract

The manual raw material procurement system at UD La-Riz Mebel has caused various operational inefficiencies, including 23 stockout incidents per semester, overstock losses of Rp 20,450,000, order delays reaching 41%, and a recording error rate of 19%. This study aims to design a raw material procurement information system using the Waterfall model to enhance purchasing efficiency. The research methods include field observations, in-depth interviews, documentation studies, and system requirements analysis. System design follows the Waterfall phases: requirements analysis, system design using DFD, ERD, and database modeling, prototype implementation, and black-box testing. The results show that the proposed system reduces purchasing process time from 2.5 days to 0.5 days, decreases recording errors to 2%, reduces stockouts by 83%, and lowers overstock costs by 79%. Functional testing achieved a 100% success rate, while User Acceptance Testing scored 4.73 out of 5. The system significantly improves data accuracy, interdepartmental coordination, and overall operational efficiency.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the optimal number of workers at PT Mujiarto Putri Kembar Sejahtera to meet the increasing demand for rice production. The methods employed include work sampling, data uniformity and adequacy tests, performance rating, normal and standard time calculations, and Work Load Analysis (WLA). The results reveal that most work elements operate within reasonable workload limits, but the packaging section experiences excessive workload of up to 110%, leading to production delays and unmet demand. Based on the WLA results, one additional worker is required in the packaging section, raising the optimal workforce to 18 employees. This adjustment is expected to improve production capacity and balance workload distribution across workstations.

Abstract

UD. Mawar is a small-scale cracker manufacturing enterprise located in Menganti, Gresik, which requires efficient material flow to support its daily production activities. However, the existing facility layout presents inefficiencies such as long travel distances, backtracking, and suboptimal space utilization, resulting in increased transfer time, high material handling costs, and reduced productivity. This study aims to redesign the production layout using Activity Relationship Chart (ARC), Activity Relationship Diagram (ARD), supported by simulation modeling with FlexSim 2019. Findings show that the proposed U-Flow layout reduces monthly material travel distance from 11,616 m to 4,800 m (58.7%), decreases transfer time from 100.17 to 88.33 minutes (11.8%), and lowers handling costs from IDR 363,000 to IDR 150,000 (58.7%). Productivity increases from 239.5 to 271.7 kg/hour (13.4%). The redesigned layout is recommended to enhance operational efficiency.
