Abstract

PT. Romi Violeta is an export furniture manufacturing company in Buduran, Sidoarjo, which faces the problem of inconsistency in mindi wood inventory due to fluctuations in demand for superior products. This condition causes stockouts, disrupts the production process, and hinders shipments. Another problem shows the unstable performance of 12 active suppliers. This study aims to determine optimal inventory planning and select the best suppliers using the Silver Meal Heuristic, Safety Stock, Reorder Point (ROP), and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) methods. The results of the study showed that the Silver Meal method produced 9 optimal order cycles with a total inventory cost of IDR 3,908,169, more economical than IDR 234,303 compared to actual conditions and was able to eliminate 5 stockout incidents. The value of Safety Stock is 784 pcs and ROP is 1,697 pcs. Based on AHP, the reject rate is the main criterion, and CV. AP was selected as the best supplier with a global priority value of 0.1220.

Abstract

UD. Raga Jati is a business engaged in handicraft production using teak wood as the main raw material. The company produces various types of handicrafts such as tissue boxes, mini mineral water racks, trays, wooden cups, and other products. The problem faced by the company is the frequent shortage of raw materials, which causes financial losses and has the potential to result in customer loss. Based on the results of the Silver-Meal method, the company can place raw material orders twice a year. The first order is made in July to cover the January–June period with an order quantity of 5,211 pcs and an ordering cost of Rp.1,675,859. The second order is placed in December to cover the August–November period with an order quantity of 5,307 pcs and an ordering cost of Rp.1,292,607. The safety stock calculation results indicate that the company should maintain a safety stock of 58 pcs. Based on the reorder point calculation, the company should reorder raw materials when the inventory remaining in the warehouse reaches 664 pcs. Furthermore, the company experienced total losses amounting to Rp.95,494,000 during 7 periods within one year.

Abstract

CV. XYZ is a manufacturing company producing electrical distribution pole accessory components operating a make-to-stock production system. A reactive, non-data-driven inventory control system caused four stockout incidents for UNP10 iron bars and strip plates during February 2025–January 2026, forcing costly emergency orders. This study aims to determine optimal safety stock, reorder point, and order quantity using the Continuous Review System (CRS) Hadley-Within Model, validated through Monte Carlo Simulation across 12 demand scenarios. Forecasting was conducted using Weighted Moving Average for UNP10 iron bars and Moving Average for strip plates. Results show CRS implementation reduced total inventory costs from IDR 20,612,890 to IDR 12,658,456 per year, achieving 38.59% efficiency, with policies proven stable against demand fluctuations.

Abstract

UD. Lestari Jaya Selalu is a company engaged in paper bag production and experiences overstock problems due to the amount of finished goods inventory exceeding warehouse capacity. This condition causes increased storage costs and the risk of company losses. This study aims to determine the optimal method for planning and controlling raw material requirements and analyzing losses due to overstock. The method used is Material Requirement Planning (MRP) with the lot sizing technique Lot-for-Lot (LFL), Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), and Period Order Quantity (POQ). Demand forecasting is carried out using the Linear Trend Line Model and Exponential Smoothing with Trend methods. The results show that the Linear Trend Line Model has the lowest forecasting error rate. In addition, the LFL method produces the lowest total inventory cost of Rp20,748,000 for paper bag products measuring 25x30 and 20x25. The LFL method is considered effective in adjusting raw material requirements and reducing the risk of overstock, thereby increasing the company's operational efficiency.

Abstract

UD. Al Athyyah is a sandal manufacturing company experiencing problems in raw material inventory control. Inaccurate raw material planning causes shortages and excess inventory, resulting in increased storage costs, disrupted production activities, and potential lost sales. This study aims to analyze raw material requirements using the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) method with lot sizing techniques, namely Lot For Lot (LFL), Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), and Period Order Quantity (POQ). The data used include product demand, product structure, raw material inventory, and lead time. The results show that the POQ method produces the lowest total inventory cost and helps the company improve inventory control efficiency while reducing the risk of raw material shortages.

Abstract

The bag convection industry in Indonesia is experiencing rapid growth along with increasing market demand. CV. Aurellia Jaya as one of the bag manufacturers faces a major problem in the form of a lack of raw material inventory which results in production delays and increased financial costs that must be borne. This study aims to calculate raw material requirements and the cost of losses due to late delivery to customers. The method used is the Silver–Meal Heuristic to determine the optimal timing and quantity of raw material orders, as well as cost analysis to measure losses in labor, machinery, and estimated delivery. The results show that the ordering cost is Rp1,704,000, the holding cost is Rp998,884, and the total inventory cost is Rp2,702,884, with a lot size of 6,488 rolls in 4 ordering cycles. The safety stock that must be provided is 176 rolls and the reorder point is at 786 rolls, and the total loss due to delays is Rp46,812,500 per 12 periods. The application of the Silver–Meal Heuristic method and Cost Analysis has been proven to make raw material inventory more efficient without raw material shortages and large losses for the company.

Abstract

The raw material handling process at Kerupuk Mawar MSME is still performed manually by workers. This working method results in non-ergonomic postures and increases the risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Therefore, this study aims to develop an ergonomic cart design to reduce the risk of work-related injuries and improve the efficiency of raw material handling activities. The research employed an anthropometric approach to determine the cart dimensions and the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method to evaluate workers' postures before and after the implementation of the proposed design. The results showed that the use of the cart reduced the REBA score for Activity 1 from 4 to 2 and for Activity 2 from 8 to 2. In addition, the average handling time decreased from 81.80 seconds to 60.75 seconds, while the carrying capacity increased from two to four sacks per trip. These findings indicate that the proposed cart effectively reduces ergonomic risks, improves worker comfort, and enhances the efficiency of material handling processes.
