Abstract

The research aimed at studying and analyzing English language attitude of the local tourism workers at Munggu Tourism Village of Badung Regency Bali. The primary research data are directly collected from the research informan using the non-participatin observation, structured interview processes, and also from the research questionnaire completion. The informan were selected using non-probability sampling technique which are: purposive, snowball, and abundant sampling techniques with the total members of 30 samples are analysed. The research finding showed that 0,88% of the informan showed positive attitude toward English, from the genders point of view, the total numbers of 0,76% and 0,25% showed positive attitude toward English. Based on the tourism jobs the total members of informan showed positive attitude toward English

Abstract

The purpose of the present research was to analyze the use of English speech acts functions by the staff of home stay at Belumbang Tourism Village in Tabanan Bali. The research method applied was descriptive qualitative approach which was largely relied on the philosophy of phenomenology approach. The types of data were the qualitative ones which were in the forms of words, phrases, expressions, and sentences on the use of English speech functions. The sources of data were primary data which were directly collected from the respondents and the key informant, and the secondary data which were collected from the existing data provided by the second party. The methods used for data collection were observation, questionnaires, and interview methods. The methods for data analysis were descriptive and qualitative by using the theory of speech acts functions proposed by Searle (1983). The population of the research was 30 people. The sampling technique applied was non-probability sampling.  The findings of the research were the result and the discussion showed that those 5 speech act functions, such as: assertive, directives, expressive, commissive, and declarative were used.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the impact of Bali's cultural tourism on the local Balinese community. This research employs a qualitative approach through a literature study, where the data sources used are secondary data. The main data sources are various types of literature such as books, scientific journals, articles, and reports. Data collection is carried out by reading, taking notes, quoting, and analyzing the content of these sources. Data analysis is performed through content analysis and synthesis or consolidation of findings from various sources. The results of the discussion in the article indicate that there are two major impacts of the existence of Bali's cultural tourism on the local Balinese community. These impacts are positive and negative impacts.

Abstract

Pig is one of animal which has its own characteristics, both in terms of physical and characteristics that distinguish them from other animals. Pigs are greedy, dirty, lazy, stupid, savage, lustful and so on. By understanding to involve and observe a pig from their uniqueness on people's life, either directly or indirectly, it will lead to an understanding and perspective in assessing everything which is experienced in daily life. With the background of observing the life of pig in Balinese society in particular, the creator has an interest in expressing it into painting. The creation of this painting tries to visualize a metaphor from the characteristics of pig which is exist in the present context of human. It can be seen from the society phenomena which actually reflect the characteristic of the pig itself. In realizing ideas and themes in artworks through process, experiment, preparation, formation and finishing. Creating the artwork by organizing the elements and elements of art on a two dimension. Regarding the displayed theme, they are sourced from the nature environment and personal experience which is interesting or imprint in memory and provide memories so that the artwork will create as a record of personal life. Personally in this context, the creator sees various interesting things which can be expressed through the depiction of the characteristics of a pig, which can be concluded that with the life of a pig, the creator can understand, express, interpret the characteristic of a pig as a social critique in the creation of an artwork.

Abstract

The research entitled “The Use of Speech acts types on the English Speech of the Front Office Staff at Some Small Scaled Hotel in Ubud Tourist Resort Gianyar Regency Bali” discusses one research problem which is the use of speech acts types on English speech of the Front Office staff in communicating with the hotel guests. The theory applied to analyse data is Pragmatic Theory that is speech acts types theory proposed by Searle (1969) and Wijana (2015). The research findings on the use of speech acts types on English speech of the Front Office staff at some small scaled hotel in Ubud Tourist Resort Gianyar Bali is that all those 10 speech acts proposed by Searle (1969) and Wijana (2015) which are: (1) locutionary acts, (2) ilocutionary acts, (3) perlocutionary acts, (4) assertives acts, (5) reformatives acts, (6) verdivtives acts, (7) expressives acts, (8) directives acts, (9) commisives acts, (10) fatice acts have all already been used in English speech of the informants of the Front Office staff eventhough the use are not yet as on the whole of every speech event occurred.

Abstract

The research in general aimed on analyzing English language errors made by local tourism workers of Jatiluwih tourism destination in Tabanan, Bali, and specifically it aimed in revealing and analyzing types of errors made by the local tourism workers of Jatiluwih Tourism Destination in using English with foreign tourists. The primary research data are directly collected from the English language expressions used by the local tourism workers as informan of Jatiluwih Tourism Destination during their communication activities with the foreign tourists. The data informan are selected using purposive, snowball and abundant sampling techniques with the total number of 30 samples of the local tourism workers of Jatiluwih Tourism Destination in Tabanan, Bali. The collected data are analyzed using Error Analysis Theory proposed by Tarigan (1985) and Ellis (1986) (cited in Tarigan and Tarigan, 2011:63-64). The research reveal that the English language errors committed by local tourism workers of Jatiluwih Tourism Destination i Tabanan, Bali can be categorized into two major errors, which are: (1) errors of linguistic taxonomy category, which consists of two errors types, such as : (a) morphology errors and, (b) syntactic errors; (2) Errors of surface strategy taxonomy.

Abstract

The objectives of this article were to explore, to identify and to present the tourism potencies owned by the Sucen Tourism Destination of Tegallinggah Tourism Village to be able to be developed as A Smart Tourism Village which was located at Bedulu Tourism Village in Gianyar Regency, Bali. The research method applied was Survey Research and the methods used for collecting data were observation and interviewed. The number of populationof the research were 30 people, and the sampling technique used was probability sampling technique where all the members of the population were given the same opportunity to be chosen as the sample of the research. The sampling technique used was Saturated Sampling Technique where all the members of the population were chosen as the samples of the research. In other words, the member of samples of the research were 30 people. The result of the research the tourism potencies owned by the sucen Tourism Village, such as the natural resources, the Human Recouses, excellent products and smart Tourism Village Potencies.
