Abstract

Bawang dayak is the important medicinal plant that need to be developed in cultivation techniques and production. The use of Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) recently known to be effective to increase plant growth and yield. The research aimed to determine the optimal concentration and immersion time of PGPR on the growth and yield of bawang dayak. The experiment was arrange in complete randomized block design (RCBD) consisting of two factors. The first factor is the concentration of PGPR with 4 levels namely K0 = 0 g L-1, K1 = 5 g L-1, K2 = 10 g L-1 and K3 = 15 g L-1.  The second factor is immersion time of seed, namely P1 = 10 minutes, P2 = 20 minutes, P3 = 30 minutes and P4 = 40 minutes.  The results showed that there was an interaction between concentration and immersion time of PGPR giving effect to the number of leaves and the number of tillers. The immersion time of PGPR for 10 minutes with a concentration of 15 g L-1produced the highest number of leaves (58 leaves) and produced the highest number of tillers (27.67 tillers).  The treatment of PGPR concentration or immersion time of PGPR singly did not affect all observed variables of growth and yield of bawang dayak.

Abstract

The community empowerment in the area of Ar-Rahmah pesantren, Air Meles Atas Village, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu was intended to increase the income of pesantren to finance poor students, and at the same time to enhance the ability of pesantren in carrying out educational and teaching activities. Community service activities carried out in the form of assistance activities in shallot cultivation in the yard of the Ar-Rahmah Pesantren. The assistance program is carried out for 4 months, with such stage of activities as: the preparation stage for managers, teachers, students and farmers around the pesantren, seed selection, land preparation, planting, maintenance, harvesting, and post-harvest. The evaluation result showed that the community participation and involvement in the shallot cultivation assisting program were considered high. The highest participation rates were during the selection of seed activity (73%) and planting activity (100%). Meanwhile, the lowest participation rate was during maintenance activities (27%). The evaluation results showed the level of participants’ satisfaction is high (90‒100%) on the implementation of assistance activities. The harvested shallots could increase the income of the boarding school which can be used to help the education cost and education progress of the boarding school. The participation of the entire community would be encouraged so that the success of empowerment program could be felt by the entire community. The community empowerment program need to be carried out continuously, so it would enhance the welfare of and self-sufficiency of the community.

Abstract

The objective of this experiment was to determine the optimum concentration of 6- benzyl amino purine (BAP) and 1-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) for in vitro regeneration of diseases-free plantlets of ginger. Meristem part of ginger rhizome selected from infected area was used as plant material. The explant was cut into 0.5 cm3 and, then, cultured in an MS basal medium supplemented with combination of treatments. The experiment wasarranged in Completed Randomized Design with factorial arrangement of the treatments. The first factor was BAP concentrations (0,1,2,3,4 and 5 ppm of BAP), and the second factor was NAA concentrations (0,1,2,3,4 and 5 ppm of NAA). The experiment was done in 18 sterilization methods and planting techniques to regenerate disease-free plantlets. The results showed that supplements of BAP and NAA affectedin vitro plantlet regeneration of ginger. Additional BAP and NAA on the basal media improved percentage of root, shoot and plantlet formation about 83.33- 100%. The highest number of shoot was obtained on 4 ppm of BAP and 3 ppm of NAA, while the highest number of root was obtained on media with addition 3.58 ppm of BAP and 5 ppm of NAA. Supplementing the medium with 3-4 ppm of BAP and 3 ppm of NAA was the best combination for regenerating plantlets of ginger. Microscopic test of micro-rhizome cell showed that there was only 2% of sample infected by P. solanacearum. This result indicated that in vitro technique could be used as an alternative method to produce a disease-free rhizome of ginger.

Abstract

Bawang merah merupakan salah satu komoditas hortikultura strategis dan bernilai ekonomi tinggi. Ketersediaan bawang merah dipengaruhi oleh luas lahan budidaya dan kendala organisme pengganggu tanaman. Saat ini Kementerian Pertanian menetapkan perluasan daerah budidaya bawang merah di berbagai daerah di Indonesia, salah satunya adalah Kabupaten Rejang Lebong dan Kabupaten Kepahiang di Provinsi Bengkulu. Petani membutuhkan informasi teknik budidaya yang tepat. Kegiatan ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan teknik budidaya bawang merah dan kemudian dilanjutkan dengan melakukan evaluasi sehingga diperoleh persepsi petani tentang budidaya bawang merah yang diperkenalkan. Petani antusias mengikuti kegiatan penyuluhan serta pengamatan di lapangan, Hasil evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar petani memberikan persepsi yang baik terhadap teknologi budidaya bawang merah yang diperkenalkan. Kata kunci: Bawang Merah, Pengenalan, Budidaya, Evaluasi ABSTRACT Shallots are one of the strategic horticultural commodities and have high economic value. The availability of shallots is influenced by the area of cultivated land and the constraints of plant-disturbing organisms. At present the Ministry of Agriculture is establishing expansion of shallot cultivation areas in various regions in Indonesia, one of which is Rejang Lebong Regency and Kepahiang Regency in Bengkulu Province. Farmers need information on proper cultivation techniques. This activity was carried out aiming to introduce the technique of shallot cultivation and then proceed with an evaluation to obtain farmers' perceptions about the cultivation of shallots that were introduced. Farmers were enthusiastic in participating in the extension activities as well as observations in the field. The results of the evaluation showed that most farmers gave a good perception of the shallot cultivation technology introduced. Keywords: Shallot, Introducing, Farming, Evaluation

Abstract

Peningkatan produksi bawang merah dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan benih dari varitas yang sesuai dengan lingkungan tumbuh serta perlakuan pemupukan dengan dosis yang tepat. Pemanfaatan gulma Wedelia trilobata sebagai pupuk organik cair dapat menyuplai unsur hara yang dibutuhkan selama pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan interaksi pupuk organik cair (POC) tusuk konde pada tiga varietas bawang merah, menentukan varietas bawang merah yang memberikan respon terbaik terhadap POC, dan mendapatkan konsentrasi optimum POC pada bawang merah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di green house Laboratorium Agronomi, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Bengkulu dari bulan Januari - April 2019. Rancangan penelitian adalah rancangan acak lengkap faktorial dengan dua faktor perlakuan dan tiga ulangan, satu unit perlakuan ada dua pot tanaman. Faktor pertama perlakuan konsentrasi POC yang terdiri dari 5 taraf yaitu 0 V/V, 25 V/V, 50 V/V, 75 V/V, 100 V/V dan faktor kedua yaitu varietas bawang merah meliputi Bima Brebes, Batu Ijo, dan Thailand. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan Analysis of Varian (ANAVA) pada taraf 5%, Polynomial Orthogonal untuk menjelaskan interaksi dan konsentrasi, dan BNT untuk menentukan varietas. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat interaksi POC tusuk konde terhadap panjang tajuk tanaman bawang merah. Varietas Thailand yang diberi 100 V/V POC tusuk konde menghasilkan panjang tajuk terpanjang (28.5 cm). Varietas Batu ijo lebih responsif dibandingkan dengan varietas Bima dan Thailand . Hal ini dapat dilihat dari variabel penting yaitu bobot kering umbi yang diikuti variabel lainnya yaitu jumlah umbi. Pemberian POC W. trilobata L. belum mendapatkan konsentrasi yang optimum. Pada konsentrasi 100 V/V menghasilkan panjang tajuk terpanjang (23 cm), bobot segar dan bobot kering umbi terberat (16.20 g dan 14.44 g).

Abstract

The aims of this activity are 1) to introduce and to apply the 5R principles to handle the household waste, 2)  to introduce and to apply composting method of  the organic household waste in Takakura Bin, 3) to introduce and to apply the producing method of recycled paper, and 4) to evaluate the technology which introduced and applied. The participants are 11 housewives. The activity methods are extention and practicing (learning by doing). All of participants are exited.  The results of evaluation analysis show that 78,41 % said that the technology which introduced and applied are very good and 21,59 % participants said that the technology are good. Keywords: household waste, 5R principles, takakura bin, recycled paper

Abstract

This activity is carried out in Pantai Bajak Village, Teluk Segara, City of Bengkulu, with consideration the PKK organization is the most active in Teluk Segara. The targetaudience of this activity is the housewives who become member of PKK, in the hope thatapplied science and technology can be introduced particularly to housewives andgenerally to society. 14 audiences present and are excited to follow every stage of theactivity. Activities include outreach and direct practice with methods of Learning by doingto overcome household trash. Composted organic waste has been made by the TakakuraMagic Basket, and plastic waste is recycled into bags and aprons creations. The results ofan evaluation of the apllied technology shows that most participants strongly agreed toprovide an assessment of all aspects of the application of introduced technology, namelythe technical aspects of production (66.67%), economic aspects (73.81%), in terms ofaspects of innovation (73.81%) and aspects of behavioral change (82.14%). Thus the mostlikely introduced technology will be applied by the target audience.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk menginisiasi wirausaha oleh-oleh tanaman hias di lokasi wisata air terjun Curug Embun bagi pemuda Karang Taruna Andalas Jaya Desa   Tapak Gedung, yang meliputi : 1) Transfer pengetahuan dan keterampilan tentang  budidaya tanaman hias (Vinca, Begonia dan Anggrek) menjadi tanaman hias oleh-oleh, 2) Mengenalterapkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan penentuan Harga Pokok Produksi (HPP) tanaman hias yang dihasilkan, dan 3) Mengetahui persepsi atau penilaian khalayak sasaran tentang aspek-aspek inovasi atau ide wirausaha oleh-oleh tanaman hias di daerah wisata air terjun Curug Embun Desa Tapak Gedung.  Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli hingga Oktober 2022. Kegiatan transfer dan pengenalterapan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dilakukan dengan metode penyuluhan dan praktek atau belajar sambil mengerjakan (learning by doing), sementara untuk evaluasi penilaian khalayak sasaran terhadap aspek-aspek inovasi wirausaha (keuntungan relatif, tingkat kesesuaian, tingkat kemudahan, dapat dicoba dan dapat diamati hasilnya) dilakukan dengan pengisian kuesioner dan jawaban responden diukur dengan skor.  Penilaian atau persepsi responden kemudian dibagi menjadi dua kategori dengan cara membandingkan total skor responden dengan total skor rata-rata.   Kegiatan dihadiri oleh 25 orang yang mengikuti semua kegiatan dengan antusias.  Ide baru (inovasi) wirasusaha oleh-oleh tanaman hias di lokasi wisata air terjun Curug Embun Desa Tapak Gedung secara umum dinilai positif oleh para pemuda Karang Taruna Andalas Jaya,  baik pada masing-masing aspek maupun terhadap semua aspek secara keseluruhan.  Dengan demikian diharapkan dengan penilaian yang positif dari peserta akan mempercepat penerapan inovasi wirausaha oleh-oleh tanaman hias tersebut secara mandiri oleh pemuda Karang Taruna Andalas Jaya.The purpose of this community service activity is to initiate entrepreneurship of ornamental plant souvenirs at the Curug Embun waterfall for the youth of Karang Taruna Andalas Jaya Tapak Gedung Village as the target audience, which includes: 1) Transfer of knowledge and skills about ornamental plant cultivation (Vinca, Begonia, and Orchids) become souvenirs, 2) Introducing knowledge and skills in determining the Harga Pokok Produksi (HPP) of ornamental plants produced, and 3) Knowing the perceptions or assessments of the target audience about aspects of innovation or entrepreneurial ideas for ornamental plant souvenirs in Curug Embun waterfall Tapak Gedung Village. The transfer and application of knowledge and skills are carried out using counselling methods and practice or learning by doing while evaluating the target audience's assessment of aspects of entrepreneurial innovation (relative advantage, level of suitability, level of convenience, can be tried and can be observed) is done by filling out the questionnaire, and scores measure respondents' answers. The respondent's assessment is divided into two categories by comparing the total and average scores. The activity was attended by 25 people who participated in all activities enthusiastically. The new idea (innovation) of ornamental plants and souvenir entrepreneurship at the Curug Embun waterfall Tapak Gedung Village is generally considered positive by the youth of Karang Taruna Andalas Jaya, both in each aspect and in all aspects as a whole. Thus, a positive assessment from the participants will accelerate the implementation of entrepreneurial innovations for ornamental plant souvenirs by the youth of Karang Taruna Andalas Jaya.

Abstract

Pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) merupakan jenis sayur yang mempunyai kandugan nilai gizi tinggi. Salah satu cara meningkatkan produksinya memenfaatkan sistem hidroponik. Larutan AB-mix telah diketahui bahwa harga nya tidak ekonomis jika digunakan dalam skala besar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan formula nutrisi pengganti AB-Mix pada tanaman pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) yang ditanam secara hidroponik. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan faktor tunggal yaitu AB-Mix 5 ml/l, NPK 1 gram/l + POC 5 ml/l, NPK 1 gram/l + POC 10 ml/l, NPK 1 gram/l + POC 15 ml/l, NPK 1,5 gram/l + POC 5 ml/l, NPK 1,5 gram/l + POC 10 ml/l, NPK 1,5 gram/l + POC 15 ml/l. Dari faktor tunggal didapat 7 kombinasi perlakuan dengan 3 ulangan, sehingga didapatkan 21 satuan percobaan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan analisis varians (ANAVA) pada taraf 5% dan diuji lanjut dengan uji Duncan Multiple Tange Test (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi pupuk NPK dan POC tidak dapat menggantikan pupuk AB-Mix.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengenalterapan atau inisiasi wirausaha anggrek di Desa Tapak Gedung Kecamatan Tebat Karai Kabupaten Kepahiang ditujukan untuk khalayak sasaran ibu-ibu anggota PKK.  Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dan kemandirian kelompok sasaran dalam wirausaha budidaya tanaman anggrek. Pengenalterapan IPTEKS wirausaha anggrek dilakukan dengan metode penyuluhan dan belajar sambil mengerjakan (learning by doing).  Kegiatan pengenalterapan budidaya dan wirausaha anggrek ini disambut antusias oleh khalayak sasaran yang terlihat dari partisipasi aktifnya dalam setiap tahapan kegiatan.  Hasil evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa seluruh peserta (100%) menyatakan bahwa  IPTEKS yang dikenalterapkan akan menguntungkan, sesuai dengan kebutuhan serta kondisi sosial, ekonomi dan dukungan sumberdaya lingkungan,  dapat segera dicoba dan langsung dapat diamati hasilnya. Hanya untuk aspek kompleksitas, sebanyak 80% peserta menyatakan wirausaha anggrek tidak rumit dan selebihnya (20%) yang menilai agak rumit dari sisi perolehan bibit, pot sabut dan pemasaran.  Dengan demikian dapat disarankan bahwa pemanfaatan sistem pemesanan bibit dan pot serta pemasara produk secara online dapat menjadi solusi.
