Abstract

Bougainvillea is a popular type of flower in Indonesia, admired for its vibrant colors and attractive variations. Despite being widely cultivated, in-depth understanding of the adaptation and morphology of this plant remains limited. This community service initiative aims to enhance the understanding and skills of cultivating bougainvillea, particularly among the members of the PKK (Pemberdayaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga) in RT 20, Pakuan Baru, Jambi City. The primary focus is on meeting the nutritional needs of the plants by utilizing agricultural waste, such as coconut coir, as a material for organic potassium fertilizer. Typically grown to approximately 1 meter as an ornamental plant, bougainvillea's visual appeal is expected to be further enhanced through the application of liquid organic fertilizer derived from coconut coir, promoting brighter and more fertile flower displays. The outreach activities involve two stages: providing information on the production of liquid organic fertilizer from coconut coir and demonstrating its application in cultivation. The woman of the PKK group exhibited high enthusiasm and active participation in these activities. The results of the outreach indicated a solid understanding within the group. It is anticipated that this increased comprehension will motivate them to produce the appropriate dosage of liquid organic fertilizer from coconut coir, optimizing the growth of bougainvillea or paper flowers, resulting in the flourishing of beautiful and abundant blooms.

Abstract

Frangipani flowers, renowned for their beauty and fragrance, are commonly found in various places in Indonesia, ranging from gardens, home yards, office gardens, to street gardens. However, frangipani tree trunks produce a white latex that can cause skin irritation. To enhance the growth and beauty of frangipani flowers, it is essential to fulfill the plant's nutrient requirements, and one solution is to use sugarcane bagasse as organic fertilizer. Sugarcane bagasse is rich in carbohydrates, carbon, protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and sodium. Additionally, sugarcane bagasse contains lignocellulose, beneficial as a biomass material. The use of liquid organic fertilizer from sugarcane bagasse can stimulate plant growth, especially during the vegetative to generative phases. This research aims to improve the skills of the PKK women in RT 23, Pasir Putih Subdistrict, Jambi City, in cultivating frangipani flowers by providing guidance on the production and use of liquid organic fertilizer from sugarcane bagasse. The guidance is conducted in two stages, providing materials on making liquid organic fertilizer from coconut coir and demonstrating its application in growing frangipani flowers using pots. The community service team provides flower cuttings, polybags, sugarcane bagasse, equipment, covered buckets, soil media, and water for the smooth implementation. The results of the guidance show high enthusiasm among the PKK women in RT 23, Pasir Putih. With this increased knowledge, it is expected that they can produce liquid organic fertilizer from sugarcane bagasse in appropriate doses to support the growth and beauty of frangipani flowers.

Abstract

Adiantum, commonly known as Maidenhair Fern, holds significant popularity as an indoor and outdoor ornamental plant due to its air-purifying capabilities and health benefits. Optimal growth of this plant necessitates fertile soil conditions, achievable through the use of enriched organic compost fertilizers. This study aims to enhance the understanding and application of enriched organic compost fertilizers among the women of PKK RT 20 in Pakuan Baru District, Jambi City, for the cultivation of Maidenhair Fern. Through a series of workshops and practical demonstrations, the women were provided with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage enriched organic compost fertilizers. The outcomes of this approach are expected to elevate awareness and implementation of enriched organic compost fertilizer usage in Maidenhair Fern cultivation, thereby yielding optimal plant growth and aesthetic satisfaction.

Abstract

Aloe vera plants have thick flesh rich in active substances such as folic acid, choline, vitamins A, C, B12, E, and various minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium, and sodium. The application of NPK Phonska fertilizer can enhance the growth and greenery of aloe vera leaves, as well as stimulate root growth and the formation of plant offspring. The objective of this community service is to improve the skills of the PKK (Family Welfare Movement) group of RT 23 in Pasir Putih Subdistrict, Jambi City, in cultivating aloe vera by providing guidance on the application of NPK Phonska fertilizer. This service is conducted in two stages: providing material on NPK Phonska fertilization and conducting a demonstration on planting aloe vera using polybags. The service team provides materials such as aloe vera seedlings, NPK Phonska fertilizer, polybags, soil media, and agricultural tools. The results show high enthusiasm and understanding from the PKK group members regarding the application of NPK Phonska fertilizer for aloe vera growth. It is hoped that through this guidance, their skills in caring for aloe vera plants will improve, resulting in lush growth with shiny green leaves and abundant offspring formation.

Abstract

The sumber rezeki farmer group grows a lot of cassava plants because they can be used as food and a source of income, but the yield of cassava plants is still very low, while national production has reached high figures. The service method applies counseling and demonstration. Counseling is carried out in the form of material counseling and direct demonstration in the field for 7 months starting from a preliminary survey, determining the schedule and implementing counseling in making compost fertilizer from organic waste materials and its use for cassava plants planted on the ground in the field. The extension was carried out in two stages, namely providing material information on how and the benefits of making compost fertilizer on cassava plants in the Sumber Rezeki Farmer Group in Mendalo Darat Village, Muaro Jambi Regency. Based on the results of the counseling, the Sumber Rezeki Farmer Group was very enthusiastic in participating in the counseling held by the service team from the Faculty of Agriculture, Jambi University. Where farmers who are members of the Sumber Rezeki farmer group feel satisfied and enthusiastic and can add skills in making organic waste compost so that they can reduce the cost of buying fertilizer for cassava plants.

Abstract

Pengolahan tanah dengan dua lintasan traktor dan pupuk kandang 5 dan 10 ton per hektar memberikan produktivitas kentang masing-masing 42.93 kg/12 m2 (35.78 ton/ha) dan 50.99 kg/12 m2 (42.99 ton/ha) dengan sifat tanah relatif sama.  Penelitian bertujuan untuk menguji hasil percobaan petak kecil tersebut (12 m2) dengan metode demplot, dua demplot masing-masing seluas 800 m2 pada tanah andisol yang landai (kemiringan lereng 6%, pupuk kandang 5 ton/ha) dan berbukit (kemiringan lereng 19%, pupuk kandang 10 ton/ha) di Desa Kebun Baru, Kecamatan Kayu Aro, Kabupaten Kerinci.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa C-organik, pH, N-total, K-tersedia dan serangan patogen relatif sama antar demplot; sedangkan BV lebih rendah, laju dan kapasitas infiltrasi (6.9 cm/jam dan 4.81 cm/jam), P-tersedia (26.33 ppm), produktivitas kentang (30.09 ton/ha), BCR (1.87) dan RCR (2.87) lebih tinggi pada demplot yang landai, dibandingkan dengan laju dan kapasitas infiltrasi (5.37 cm/jam dan 2.91 cm/jam), P-tersedia (23.4 ppm), produktivitas kentang (27.68 ton/ha), BCR (1.48) dan RCR (2.48) pada demplot berbukit; usahatani kentang lebih efisien dan lebih menguntungkan pada lahan yang landai dibandingkan dengan di lahan berbukit.

Abstract

Peningkatan produksi padi gogo pada lahan kering marjinal seperti Ultisol tidak optimal disebabkan kesuburan tanah yang rendah. Kandungan bahan organik, reaksi tanah dan ketersediaan hara makro sangat rendah, sedangkan unsur-unsur yang bersifat toksik seperti Al, Fe cukup tinggi. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas lahan kering marjinal adalah dengan memanfaatkan mikroba potensial seperti fungi mikoriza arbuskular (FMA). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pupuk hayati FMA indigen yang diisolasi langsung dari rizosfir padi gogo terhadap kemampuan kolonisasi FMA pada akar tanaman padi gogo dan hasil padi gogo di lahan kering marjinal Ultisol. Percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan 10 perlakuan dan 4 kelompok, yaitu: A = Tanpa inokulan FMA indigen; B = Inokulan FMA indigen Glomus sp-1; C = Inokulan FMA indigenous Glomus sp-2; D = Inokulan FMA indigen Glomus sp-5; E Inokulan FMA indigen Glomus sp-8; F = Inokulan FMA indigen Acaulospora sp-1; G = Inokulan FMA indigen Acaulospora sp-2; H = Gabungan inokulan FMA indigen Glomus sp 1, 2, 5, 8; I = Gabungan inokulan FMA indigen Acaulospora sp 1, 2; J = Gabungan perlakuan H dan I. Petak percobaan ukuran 2 m x 2 m dengan jarak tanam 25 cm x 25 cm. Inokulan FMA diberikan 15 g per lobang tanam dan bibit padi gogo di tanam sebanyak 3 bibit per lobang tanam. Pupuk yang diberikan adalah 250 kg ha-1 Urea, 75 kg ha-1 SP-36 dan 100 kg ha-1 KCl. Pengamatan meliputi kolonisasi FMA, tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan maksimum, jumlah anakan produktif, hasil dan bobot 1000 butir. Data dianalisis secara sidik ragam dan untuk mengetahui perbedaan pengaruh antar perlakuan analisis data dilanjutkan dengan Uji Duncan (DMRT) taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian diperoleh inokulan FMA indigen yang efektif untuk padi gogo adalah pemberian FMA secara bersamaan antara genus Glomus dan Acaulospora dengan tingkat kolonisasi sebesar 57,5% - 65%. Untuk anakan produktif terjadi kenaikkan sebesar 15% dan 23,78% untuk hasil gabah dari pemberian pupuk hayati FMA untuk semua jenis Glomus (FMA Glomus sp-1, Glomus sp-2, Glomus sp-5 dan Glomus sp-8).

Abstract

Penambangan batubara secara terbuka dapat menimbulkan perubahan bentang lahan dan penurunan kualitas fisik, kimia, dan biologi tanah. Kegiatan penambangan batubara ini dilakukan dengan menerapkan teknik penambangan terbuka (open pit mining) yaitu pembukaan dan pengupasan hutan serta penggalian tanah untuk mengambil kandungan batubara yang terdapat di dalamnya ( Yuliarto et al., 2017) Upaya yang dapat dilakukan dalam memperbaiki kualitas tanah bekas tambang batubara dalam mendukung pertumbuhan tanaman salah satunya adalah dengan pemberian bahan organik. Jenis bahan organik yang cukup tersedia dan potensial dalam mereklamasi tanah bekas tambang batubara adalah Kompos Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit (TKKS). Berdasarkan proses pengolahan kelapa sawit, tandan kosong merupakan 23% bagian limbah utama yang dihasilkan dari proses pengolahan kelapa sawit dan juga memiliki kandungan hara yang dapat membantu pertumbuhan tanamanHayat dan Andayani ( 2014). Dengan adanya pemberian kompos TKKS ini diharapkan akan tercipta perbaikan sifat kimia tanah yang akan mendukung pertumbuhan tanaman Jambon dan tanaman Sengon Penelitian bertujuan untuk meneliti pengaruh pemberian kompos Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit (TKKS) terhadap beberapa sifat kimia tanah C-organik ,pH, Al-dd, dan P-tersedia meneliti pengaruh berbagai dosis kompos TKKS terhadap beberapa sifat kimia tanah terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman Jambon dan tanaman sengon. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di areal konsesi pertambangan batubara PT. Nan Riang yang berada di Desa Ampelu Mudo, Kecamatan Muaro Tembesi, Kabupaten Batanghari, Provinsi Jambi . Penelitian ini mealakuan penaman Tanaman Jambon Dan Tanamn Sengon dengan Rancangan RAK yang terpisah Dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) berdasarkan arah kelerengan. Terdiri dari 6 Perlakuan yaitu: K0 = kontrol, K1 = 1kg kompos TKKS per lubang tanam, K2 = 2 kg per lubang tanamkompos TKKS, K3 = 3 kg per lubang tanam kompos TKKS, K4 = 4 kg per lubang tanamkompos TKKS dan K5 = 5 kg per lubang tanam.kompos TKKs Perlakuan diulang 4 kali, sehingga pada penelitian menggunakan 24 petak percobaan, setiap petaknya terdapat 6 tanaman dengan jarak tanam 6x6 meter menjadi tanaman sampel dan jumlah tanaman yang digunakan sebanyak 144 tanaman. Variabel yang diamati C- organik ,pH, Al-dd, P-tersedia, pertambahan tinggi tanaman dan pertambahan diameter tanaman. Data dianalisis mengunakan sidik ragam dan uji lanjut menggunakan Uji Jarak Duncam pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa pemberian kompos TKKS mampu menurunkan Al-dd, mampu meningkatkaan pH, C-organik, pertambahan tinggi tanaman dan pertambahan diameter tanaman, tetapi belum mampu meningkatkan P-tersedia. Dosis terbaik dengan Pemberian 3 kg kompos TKKS per lubang tanam untuk tanaman Jambon dan tanaman Sengon.

Abstract

Bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) possesses significant economic value and health benefits due to its content of saponins, flavonoids, polivenol, cucurbitacin glycosides, momordicin, and charantin. To achieve optimal fruit production, fulfilling essential nutrients through the application of compound fertilizers is crucial. This study aims to enhance the skills of the Sumber Rezeki Farmers Group in Desa Mendalo Indah, Kecamatan Jambi Luar Kota, Kabupaten Muaro Jambi, in cultivating bitter melon through extension services and the application of NPK Phoska fertilizer. The methods employed include providing training on NPK Phoska fertilization and conducting direct demonstrations of bitter melon planting in farmers' fields. The provided facilities include bitter melon seedlings, NPK Phoska fertilizer, agricultural tools (machetes, hoes, buckets), scales, as well as supporting materials such as teaching aids and refreshments during the fertilization demonstrations. The research results indicate that the training participants were highly enthusiastic, actively engaged in discussions, and understood how to determine the appropriate dosage of NPK Phoska fertilizer. The application of NPK Phoska fertilizer is expected to enhance the growth of bitter melon plants and produce more abundant fruits. In conclusion, the extension services and application of NPK Phoska fertilizer effectively improve the skills and productivity of the farmers group in cultivating bitter melon.

Abstract

Kangkong (water spinach) is a perennial plant consisting of two main types: upland kangkong (upland water spinach, Ipomoea reptans poir) and aquatic water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica). This plant is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, and beta-carotene, which act as antioxidants to combat free radicals and prevent cholesterol oxidation. To optimize the growth of upland kangkong on Ultisol soil, enriched organic fertilizer containing dolomite lime, natural phosphate rock, and palm oil ash is required. This fertilizer improves soil fertility, adjusts soil pH, and supports microbial activity. This community service aims to enhance the skills of women in the PKK group RT 23, Pasir Putih Village, Jambi City, in cultivating upland kangkong using enriched organic fertilizer. The activity included two stages: delivering material on the benefits of enriched fertilizer and conducting field practice on its application. The team provided materials such as seeds, fertilizer, supporting tools, and educational resources. The results indicated high enthusiasm from the participants, who gained an understanding of proper fertilizer usage and dosage. Post-training, the participants successfully applied the techniques, resulting in healthy kangkong growth with shiny green leaves. These skills are expected to promote sustainable local agriculture.
