Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze how socioeconomic factors affect HIV prevalence in West Java Province from 2019 to 2023. The variables examined include poverty, unemployment, the Human Development Index (HDI), and health facilities. Using a quantitative approach with panel data regression on 27 districts/cities, the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) results show that HDI and health facilities significantly influence HIV prevalence, while poverty and unemployment have no significant effect. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.6930 indicates that 69.30% of HIV rate variations are explained by the model's variables, with the remainder influenced by other factors. These findings highlight that improving the Human Development Index and expanding health facilities play a crucial role in reducing HIV prevalence across West Java Province.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the impact of socioeconomic factors on stunting prevalence in Indonesia from 2021–2023. Using panel data regression with a Random Effect Model (REM) across 34 provinces, four independent variables were analyzed: poverty rate, unemployment rate, GRDP per capita, and number of health workers. Results show that poverty positively and significantly affects stunting, while GRDP per capita has a significant negative effect. Meanwhile, unemployment and health worker variables are insignificant. The R² value of 0.2877 indicates that 28.77% of stunting variation is explained by the model, with the rest influenced by external factors. The findings highlight that economic improvement and poverty reduction are key strategies to lower stunting prevalence in Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of foreign direct investment (FDI), inflation, average length of schooling, and unemployment rate on economic growth in South Africa from 2000 to 2022.Methodology: This study uses secondary data sourced from the World Bank from 2000 to 2022. The analysis model used in this study is multiple linear regression using the Partial Adjustment Model (PAM) method. Results: The analysis shows that there are two influential variables, namely inflation, which has a negative effect, and average length of schooling, which has a positive effect on South Africa's economic growth, while foreign direct investment (FDI) and unemployment rate have no effect on South Africa's economic growth. The F-test results show that FDI, inflation, average length of schooling, and unemployment rate have a combined effect on economic growth; in other words, the model exists.Applications/Originality/Value: The results of this study are expected to assist key stakeholders, particularly the South African government, in formulating effective and sustainable economic development policies that are adaptive to external shocks, such as global crises and inflationary pressures.

Abstract

Early marriage remains one of the social problems that affects the quality of human resources and economic development in various regions of Indonesia, including the island of Kalimantan. This phenomenon is often associated with the socio-economic conditions of the community. However, empirical studies that specifically analyze the influence of macroeconomic factors on early marriage in this region are still limited. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Human Development Index (HDI), open unemployment rate, percentage of poor population, and inflation on the proportion of women aged 20–24 who were married before the age of 18 in Kalimantan Island. This research employs a quantitative approach using panel data from five provinces on Kalimantan Island during the 2018–2024 period, sourced from Statistics Indonesia (Badan Pusat Statistik). The analysis was conducted using panel data regression with the Fixed Effects Model (FEM) approach. The results indicate that the Human Development Index, open unemployment rate, and percentage of the poor population have a negative effect on early marriage. Meanwhile, inflation does not have a significant effect on early marriage. These findings suggest that improving the quality of human development and enhancing the economic conditions of society play an important role in reducing the practice of early marriage.
