Abstract

Parental involvement in supporting the cognitive development of early childhood within the family environment remains relatively low. This study aims to identify the role of parents in providing cognitive stimulation and to describe effective forms of parental involvement in supporting children's intellectual development from an early age. The method used is a literature review, with data collected through a systematic search of books, scientific journals, and relevant research findings from the last five years. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and qualitative conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that active parental roles in interacting, guiding, and creating a supportive home environment significantly influence the optimization of children's cognitive functions. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that parental involvement in caregiving that incorporates cognitive stimulation—through educational play, communication, and the cultivation of critical thinking—serves as a key factor in shaping children's thinking abilities and lays the foundation for future academic success.

Abstract

Numeracy learning in early childhood serves as an essential foundation for developing logical thinking skills and understanding numerical concepts. However, many teachers still face challenges in selecting engaging and age-appropriate learning media. This study aims to describe the role of teachers in early childhood numeracy learning through the use of number block media. The research method employed a literature review by examining various scholarly sources related to numeracy learning strategies, the teacher’s role, and the effectiveness of concrete media in early childhood education. The results indicate that teachers play a crucial role as designers, implementers, and facilitators of enjoyable learning activities. Number block media help children understand numbers concretely through play-based activities. The study concludes that the use of number block media is effective in stimulating children’s numeracy skills. It is recommended that teachers continue to develop creativity in selecting contextual and engaging concrete media for early childhood learners.
