Abstract

This research is originated from a problem of low efficiency level that happened in SINBA production line at PT Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam (PT SEMB). Method used for this project is called waste analysis. Waste analysis is a step of analyze to find what kind of waste that actually happen, in order to find any proper improvement to reduce that waste. Observation has been made and the result was showing that the source of the problem is on the work cell layout and ineffective ways of set-up. Many waste happened due to excessive invaluable movement and long set-up time (movement waste and set-up waste). Improvement and solution has been proposed to remove the movement waste. Improvement result showed that efficiency has increased by 4.35%.

Abstract

PT X is a clothing company that produces bags and floor math. The problem that occured is unfulfilled the company’s target. The average of production output is only 24.82% of the capacity. Some of the causes of the problem are the production output decreased after 14.30 pm, the workers did not reach the target, and the decreasing of production output day after delivery the finished goods as 37.3%.The proposed improvements are company should provide target for each process of production and avoid the delivery of finished goods on Friday.

Abstract

One of the most common problem happened at PT. Charoen Pok­phand Indonesia is the failure in feed collection systems on pellet machine. This failure should be minimized since it creates huge loss in terms of downtime in the working process of the pellet machine. The failure is analysed using 5 Why’s and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) to find the source of the failure. From the analysis, the proposed improvements are to change the parts of feed collection systems and to create a guidance in maintaining and monitoring feed collection systems. The failure in feed collection systems did not happen anymore after the proposal is implemented with the saving costs of manufacturing as Rp472.500.000,00 per month.

Abstract

This paper discusses about inventory and distribution systems in PT. Blue Sky Biotech branch especially in Surabaya. Surabaya branch often has too much Prosatu product in the end of the month and the distribution systems also still infefficent. The analysis of distribution and inventory systems will affect to the total cost and and the warehouse inventory itself. The distribution system will be analyzed from distriburion route at Jakarta, choosing distribution partner, and the distribution method itself. There is an elimination route of taman tekno-gunung sindur-taman tekno route to minimize transportation cost. For the distribution partner PT. Blue Sky Biotech has three alternatives, to use existing partner (using bus) or to change it with train or truck. Continuous review policy with reorder point method is proposed to control the inventory. The best alternative is the company deliver the products using truck, as distribution partner and continuous review policy to control the inventory. The combination can reduce the company expense around 64%.

Abstract

PT.Lima Jaya is a company that engaged in the field of steel and metalworks. Currently, this company wants to build a new company that specialized in wiremesh production. Therefore, this research tries to design their facility layout for minimizing moment. Three algorithms are applied in order to get the best result. The algorithms are corelap algorithm, aldep algorithm, and blocplan algorithm. The result shows that the blocplan algorithm gives the best result with the moment 13579,4.

Abstract

PT. ABC would like to know the effectiveness of each production machines. The company wants to calculate the effectiveness of each production machines everyday, so that can be evaluated monthly. Therefore, this project is conducted to design the tools for calculating the level of machines effectiveness using Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Result of data processing shown that the average of effectiveness for all moulding machines is 43%. The quality indicator  became one of the causes of the low value of the average OEE for moulding machines. The ways to increase quality indicator are to make an additional tools on bandsaw machine, grouping the timber at unstacking on KD process, and to increase the operator’s utility when downtime occurs. After implementating, the OEE  becomes 45%. The tools for calculating the OEE are also designed for the company. Those are moulding production data form, OEE calculator, and OEE calculation module.

Abstract

The increasing of the air cleaner’s production cost was one of the problems experienced by PT. Astra Otoparts Adiwira Plastics Division. The production costs consist of three types of the cost, namely cost of materials, labor costs, and factory overhead cost. The increasing of production cost is caused by the large number of manpower who works on the production of assy air cleaner area, the use of the area, and electricity consumption. The large number of manpower affects the increasing of labor costs and the use of the area and electricity consumption affect an increase in factory overhead cost. Cost of raw materials being on the outside control of the company as the costs would come from supplier. The saving cost is calculated after improving and applying direct assy. The estimating of saving cost is Rp. 203,933,267.59 monthly. After implementing the direct assy, the work standardization is designed. The design of standardization work already performed the three types of standardizations. Those are standardized work chart (SWC), standardized work combination table (SWCT), and work instruction (WI).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of integrated production planning to PPIC Department. Main problems of PT. FSCM Manufacturing Indonesia were the high cost of Heat Treatment Workstation and the loss of control from PPIC Department to manufacturing area. The high cost of Heat Treatment Workstation caused by the setup time/ dandori time of each type of component being processed. The daily production load resulted in repetition of setup time/ dandori time. The loss of control from PPIC Department to manufacturing area also caused higher level of WIP components resulted in the holding cost of this WIP components. Improvement given was to implement new production planning system with daily production load around 10 days in Heat Treatment Workstation and take a control to PPIC Department in manufacturing area .The results showed that integrated production planning to PPIC Department could reduce manufacturing cost of Heat Treatment Workstation and reduce the WIP levels. The reduction of production cost at Heat Treatment Workstation is about Rp. 236.448.747,00. The reduction of WIP levels could give the potential benefit around  Rp. 2.984.382,53.

Abstract

Currently, support function units of PT.SEMB cannot reach their target of performances.Therefore, in this research PT SEMB attempts to evaluate the causes of it. Work samplingmethod is applied for three of support function units. The result shows the proportion ofthe team leader’s, line inspector’s, and line trainer’s value added are 75.04%, 78.16%, and84.19%, respectively. The highest proportion of non value added activities is movement. It occurssince PT.SEMB doesn’t have a working guidance. The proposed improvements are designing achecklist, job rotation procedure, and the guidance for reviewing a job description. The implementationresult shows the proportion of the value added for team leader and line inspector are85.88% and 84.98%

Abstract

PT Charoen Pokphand Feedmill Balaraja Indonesia is a poultry feed producer company. One of the main processes in feed production is mixing process which involves mixer machine. When mixing process is running lot of raw material wasted out through the mixer machine funnel. The wasted raw material known as bin has a low selling price which brings losses to the company. DMAIC is applied to solve the problem.Improvement carried out by installing hostaform to cover the gap that allows the raw material wasted out from the mixer machine through the funnel and change the handle position. Result of the improvement is the amount of raw materials that wasted out through the funnel was reduced by 80.02% with cost needed is Rp. 6.109.703,-. The company can save Rp. 442.911.432,-/year by implementing this improvement. Control to the improvement is needed every two months, according to the mixer machine preventive schedule.
