Abstract

Farmer-based agricultural nursing integrated emergency risk reduction is needed by increasing the ability of farmers. This study aimed to improve farmers’ basic life support (BLS) capacity using the peer group education approach in Lumajang Regency. This study’s design was a quasi-experimental design with a pre and post-test group design on 209 respondents. Bivariate analysis in this study used the Wilcoxon test to determine the effect of BLS ability before and after peer-group education. The majority of respondents were male, as many as 168 people (80.4%) with a productive age of 35-50, 94 people (45%), and a high school education level of 84 people (41%). Before mentoring was carried out, 72% in the low category increased to 56% having good abilities after being assisted BLS. The application of a peer group education approach is expected to improve safety in agricultural areas and minimize hazardous substances in the agricultural work environment. To improve the farmer’s ability about basic life support, not only with training methods, but it can be obtained from electronic media and print media regarding the application of basic life support. Keywords: Peer Group Education; Basic Life Support; Farmers

Abstract

Introduction: Along with the increasing productivity of agricultural products by using sophisticated farming tools and machinery and the use of pesticides is not followed by the development of farmers' health status. Where many research results state the many effects of acute or chronic poisoning due to the use of pesticides that are not in accordance with procedures and the frequent occurrence of trauma in agricultural areas. However, research that aims to find out the gap has not been much studied; therefore, this study aims to explore the local wisdom of farmers in recognizing and handling early threats due to hazardous materials in agricultural areas. Method: The research design used was qualitative with an inductive content analysis approach with the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method. The FGD was conducted using a semistructured question involving 2 FGD groups, each group consisting of 7 and 8 people with a background of food cropfarmers and horticultural cultivation in Lumajang Regency. Data were collected and analyzed using thematic analysis based on the Krueger, R. and Casey, M. Results : The research produced three themes, namely sharing information on sources of threats in agriculture, maintaining the tradition of farming, and utilizing the wealth of traditional medicine. Conclusion: Risk reduction due to hazardous materials in agricultural areas is more appropriate using a local wisdom-based approach. This approach will be able to produce appropriate technology products that are closer to the day-to-day experience of farmers so that they are easier to accept and apply.

Abstract

Background: Stroke patients by 80% experience hemiparesis (partial paralysis on one side of the body). Muscle contractions are influenced by the body's motion system in stroke patients who experience weakness. Range of Motion is a muscle strength training given to increase muscle mass and muscle tone to increase the normal and complete perfection of joint motion. Most of the current research focuses on increasing muscle strength in stroke patients. Objectives: literature review aims to determine the effectiveness of Range of Motion there is an increase in muscle strength stroke patients. Method: In preparing the Literature review using the PRISMA checklist and PICOS in the selection determine the inclusion criteria. Secondary data obtained from reputable journals both national and international with a predetermined discussion. Results: The results of several articles on Range of Motion therapy to increase the range of joint motion in patients with stroke. Effective at least 2 times a day within 5-15 minutes for 8 days in 2 weeks can affect the increase in range of motion in the upper and lower extremity joints. Keywords: Range Of Motion, Stroke

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the use of the simulation method in increasing the knowledge of nursing students in disaster preparedness. Method: The respondents were 55 nursing students. This research uses quasi-experimental with a one-group pre-post-test design to measure the level of knowledge of respondents using a questionnaire about disaster emergencies (pre-test). Respondent given intervention with simulation learning method about emergency disaster. They were re-measured using the same questionnaire (post-test). Result: Statistical test results using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed that the value of p = 0.0001 was smaller than 0.05. It can be concluded that learning activities using the simulation method can increase students ' knowledge in disaster emergencies . Conclusion: The simulation learning method and disaster emergency skills training can improve students' understanding and skills in natural disaster preparedness.

Data collection used a questionnaire consisting of knowledge of injury recognition, management, and emergency events reporting. Data analysis was bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. Results: Knowledge of farmers recognizing injuries with good categories as much as 92% (p = 0.042), knowledge of farmers doing injury management as much as 80.6% in good category (p = 0.000), and knowledge of reporting of daily emergency events in agricultural areas as much as 61, 3% is moderate (p = 0.000). Recognizing the causes of injury of farming areas will increase farmers' knowledge in managing injuries to seek assistance in handling victims quickly and accurately with useful reporting techniques. Abstract
