Abstract

A game in language is an effective tool that increase the learning enthusiasm of the students. It becomes a way to make the learning joyful. This research employs a qualitative approach that describes the game. The result shows that there were 30 students in class B joined the written test, there were 8 students (27%) who got A, 15 students (50%) who got B, 6 students (20%) who got C, and 1 student (3%) who did not pass the written text. So there were 17 students who failed in the oral text.

Abstract

Penulisan ini menganalisis kemampuan mahasiswa semester 7 (tujuh) Program Studi Tadris Bahasa Inggris (TBI) pada Fakultas Ilmu Tarbiyah dan Keguruan IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo Tahun Akademik 2020-2021. Program Pelatihan TOEFL CBT yangdiselenggarakan oleh UPT Pusat Pengembangan Bahasa IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo, dilakukan selama 6 bulan sekali, karena selain Fakultas Ilmu Tarbiyah dan Keguruan, ada juga Fakultas Syariah,Fakultas Ushuluddin dan Dakwah dan Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Islam. Sebelumnya mahasiswa dari ke empat Fakultas tersebut, sudah ada Program Matrikulasi Bahasa Arab dan Bahasa Inggris selama 1 tahun diadakan pada tahun 2000 sampai tahun 2005. Sementara program pelatihan yang baru ini,mulai di buka dan dikhususkan untuk Program Studi Tadris Bahasa Inggris (TBI) yaitu TOEFL dan untuk Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Arab (PBA) yaitu TOAFL. Adapun tujuannya untuk meningkatkan mutu dan kompetensi berbahasa, khususnya dalam aspek Pemahaman Membaca. CBT (Computer Based Test) dikerjakan dengan menggunakan komputer melalui software interaktif yang sudah terinstal di komputer. Adapun aspek membacayang akan diujikan, memiliki jumlah soal TOEFL 50 nomor dengan waktu 55 menit. Dalam kegiatan ini peserta yang terdaftar berjumlah 41 mahasiswa dari Prodi TBI yang mengikuti pelatihan CBT dan 24 mahasiswa yang tidak memenuhi syarat untuk mendapatkan nilai 500.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of digital technology in Translation at English Education Department of IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. Digital technology has brought significant changes in learning methods, especially in English language teaching. In this study, various digital devices and platforms, such as language learning apps, social networks, and other digital resources, were explored to improve students' English skills. This study was designed using a qualitative approach with observation, interviews, and document analysis to determine the effectiveness and challenges faced in this technology application. The results showed that using digital technology in translation learning can increase learning motivation, enrich learning materials, and provide interactive experiences that support the learning process. However, this study also revealed a number of obstacles, including limited infrastructure, lecturers’ and students’ abilities to adapt to technology, and the limited ability of lecturers in technology.  The recommendations of this study include the need for more in-depth training, improvement of technology facilities, and development of a digital-based curriculum to maximize the learning potential in the field of translation in the university environment

Abstract

The role of PKK members is crucial in promoting health at the family and community levels in Indonesia. This community service project aimed to strengthen the role of 17 PKK members in Jomblangan Village through structured health education and empowerment training. Utilizing a participatory action approach, the program focused on five thematic areas: balanced nutrition, stunting prevention, hygiene and sanitation, maternal and child health, and home-based first aid. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, observation, and focus group discussions. The average knowledge score increased by 29%, and participants demonstrated behavioral changes such as improved dietary practices, regular growth monitoring, and proper hygiene habits. Qualitative data also revealed enhanced motivation and willingness to share knowledge within the community. The findings confirm that PKK members, when equipped with appropriate knowledge and skills, can become effective grassroots health promoters. The program proved effective, acceptable, and replicable, providing a scalable model for similar communities. Continuous mentoring and digital engagement are recommended for long-term sustainability.

Abstract

Background. Children typically acquire their mother tongue and foreign languages, such as English, through interactive and engaging activities. Games like Spelling Bee create a relaxed, stress-free environment conducive to learning and vocabulary retention, which supports effective communication and reduces pressure on students. Purpose. The study aims to examine the effect of the Spelling Bee game on students' pronunciation of English vocabulary, focusing specifically on seventh-grade students. Method. This research employs a quasi-experimental quantitative approach using a time series design. Data collection techniques include a pretest, treatment (Spelling Bee game), and posttest. Data analysis was conducted through Normality and Hypothesis Tests (Shapiro-Wilk), with data processed using SPSS version 20. Results. The results reveal a significant improvement in students’ pronunciation of English vocabulary due to the Spelling Bee method. The mean score increased from 33.8 in the pretest to 226.9 in the posttest, with a significance value of 0.018 (<0.05), indicating that the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. This demonstrates the positive impact of the Spelling Bee game on pronunciation. Conclusion. The study concludes that the Spelling Bee method effectively enhances English vocabulary pronunciation among seventh-grade students. The findings strongly support the method's use in educational settings as a valuable tool for improving pronunciation skills and overall language proficiency.
