Abstract

Introduction: Corn farming faces various challenges from economic, ecological, and institutional aspects. For effective agricultural extension, it is crucial to optimize the role of social capital, which catalyzes optimizing corn farming, particularly concerning the extent to which farmers become innovative in increasing income. Methods: This research employed a quantitative approach. The data were collected through primary sources via the distribution of questionnaires to 175 farmers as per sampling requirements, as well as interviews and field observations. Data analysis techniques included descriptive analysis and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results: (1) The effectiveness of extension services significantly and positively influences corn farmers' social capital, with a coefficient value of 43.00%. (2) The effectiveness of extension services significantly and positively affects innovative behavior in increasing income among corn farmers, with a coefficient value of 22.80%. (3) Social capital significantly and positively influences innovative behavior in increasing income among corn farmers, with a coefficient value of 74.80%. (4) The effectiveness of extension services through social capital significantly and positively influences innovative behavior in increasing income among corn farmers, with a coefficient value of 32.20%, resulting in a total effect of 55.00%. Conclusion: Social capital serves as a significant intervening factor, as its enhancement facilitates agricultural extension workers in their tasks by encouraging farmers to become more innovative in increasing both production and income from corn farming in the Bone Bolango Regency.

Abstract

Oranges are a horticultural commodity that is high in vitamin C and very easy to cultivate, and because of this, the demand for orange seedlings continues to increase. Grafting is a breeding technique that involves attaching a bud to the bark of a tree in order to obtain the superior characteristics of both indicators. The demand for orange seedlings in Tolitoli Regency is quite high. With the development of the times, the distribution process is not only carried out conventionally but can also be done digitally. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to see the tendency of farmers to purchase grafted orange seedlings digitally and conventionally and the factors that influence it. The method used in this study is Multiple Linear Regression Analysis. The regression analysis results found that the variables of price, convenience, ease of access, and security influence farmers' preferences in purchasing grafted orange seedlings, while the variable of seedling quality does not influence it.

Abstract

Sustainable procurement of goods and services is increasingly relevant in relation to green infrastructure development. The 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan emphasizes green and blue architecture development as a step towards Net Zero Emission by 2060. The Regional Medium-Term Development Plan in North Gorontalo Regency has only recently been approved and has not yet been properly integrated. Therefore, an analysis is needed to examine internal and external factors as a form of determining strategies in sustainable procurement of goods and services in North Gorontalo Regency. This study uses a mixed method, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. The analysis tool used is SWOT to identify internal and external factors and determine the most effective strategy to use in sustainable procurement of goods and services. The findings of this study are coordinates (0.28: 0.07) located in quadrant one, meaning that the most suitable strategy to use is a progressive strategy, namely by utilizing the strengths of sustainable goods and services procurement policies and existing opportunities. There are two strategies that can be implemented, namely: 1) Utilizing the strengths of regulations and the e-procurement system to accelerate the implementation of sustainable procurement. 2) Integrating the commitment of the North Gorontalo Regency Government with opportunities for national and international program support to strengthen the market for local environmentally friendly products.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) determine the income earned by farmers from sorghum cultivation, and (2) assess the financial feasibility of sorghum farming in Gorontalo Province. The research was conducted from April to May 2025 and involved 20 farmers selected purposively. Data were collected through direct interviews using structured questionnaires, analyzed then quantitatively using several financial feasibility indicators, including total production cost, total revenue, net income, Gross Profit Margin (GPM), Net Profit Margin (NPM), and Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C). The results indicate that the average production cost per farmer per planting season was IDR 2,214,995, while the average revenue reached IDR 4,368,750. As a result, the average net income amounted to IDR 2,153,755. The R/C ratio of 1.9 confirms that sorghum farming is profitable, as every Rp. 1 of cost generates Rp. 1.9 of revenue. Furthermore, the GPM of 52.51% and NPM of 49.29% demonstrate a strong level of profitability. Based on these findings, sorghum farming in Gorontalo Province is considered financially viable and suitable for sustainable development.
