Abstract

This research was aimed to study not only on gross morphologically but also on the histological structure of the Tetraodon lunaris digestive apparatus. The fish samples were obtained from a fisherman at the fish auction in Pelabuhan Ratu, from August 2005 until March 2006. The ratio between intestine and length/body length represented that this fish is carnivorous. The esophagus is short and the gastric forms a simple pouch with two of small diverticula. The intestine consists of a single loop. The esophagus and gastric mucous layer is covered with epithelial stratified cells. The intestine mucous layer has covered with a layer of columnar epithelial cells. The esophagus and gastric muscular layer consist of striated muscle. The sphincter pylorica and the intestine muscular layer consist of smooth muscle. The anus mucous layer consits of epithelial cuboid and it has the muscular layer of striated muscles. The liver has oval-shaped greenish vesica fellea with ductus choledochus emptied at the anterior part of intestine. The hepatocyt cells have a polygonal shape with lipid droplets in its. The exocrine glands of the pancreas tissue showed a set of acinar cells in the liver parencyhm, around portal vein, hepatic artery and biliary ductules.

Abstract

The application how processing to fertilizer from household waste with earthworms aims to add positive and productive activities among the farmers of Kampung Bunga Raya in order to increase the economic value of farmers' income.The method used was counseling and direct practice in the field with 19 participants from farmer groups. The results obtained are 1 kg of household waste can produce 2 kg of organic fertilizer and 500 grams of worms. The fertilizer obtained can be used for oil palm plantations and gardening of farming communities in Bunga Raya village, Bunga Raya district, Siak. The Cultivation of earthworms are using household waste can overcome the problem of availability of fertilizer for plantations.

Abstract

The study examined the effectiveness of ethyl-acetate fraction of Pelawan extract on the activities of superoxide dismutases in physiological repairing of uterus in postpartum rat based on SOD activity, MDA concentration, and Cu, Zn SOD expressions. The experiment was arranged with a factorial, completely randomized design. Seventy-two female rats were divided into 4 groups, namely, control 1 (P01= 9), control 2 (P02= 9), giving birth once (P1= 27), and giving birth twice (P2= 27). The experimental rats were given treatments orally with 4 doses, namely 0 mg/kg BW, 50 mg/kg BW, 100 mg/kg BW, and 150 mg/kg BW. Observation data were taken on days 0, 3, and 5 after parturition. Variables measured were SOD activity, MDA levels, and the number of cells in the uterine tissue expressing Cu, Zn SOD. The results of studies on the condition of P01, P02, P1, and P2 showed significant changes in Cu, Zn SOD expressions. The low of SOD and MDA activities were found at doses of 100 mg and 150 mg. The high number of cells expressing Cu, Zn SOD in the epithelium cells and gland cells were found at a dose of 100 mg. Antioxidant plant extracts and their dosages determine the activities of SOD, MDA, and Cu, Zn SOD expressions in the uterus that will affect the process of repairing and involution of uterine tissue. Allegedly, the bioactive compounds extracted at certain doses effectively affect the physiological repair of cells in the uterine tissue of postpartum mothers.

Abstract

The duck farming business can develop well by improving the management of duck eggs into smoked salted eggs of various flavors. The service activity aims to educate members of the Sialang Baru Palm Oil Farmers UKM about the use of cadling and processing smoked salted eggs with various flavors. The target community for this activity is around 15 people. The service method has three stages, namely first, making leaflets about candling and making smoked salted eggs. Second, the provision of material through socialization activities, in the form of lectures and discussions. Third, the practice of using egg candling and the practice of processing smoked salted eggs of various flavors. Evaluation by giving questionnaires before and after the lecture to participants. The results of the questionnaire were tabulated and described. The results of the dedication resulted in making salted eggs by smoking better than ordinary salted eggs. The taste of the egg texture is better and the yolk color is more yellow than ordinary salted eggs. Shorter manufacturing time is 7 days and smoking is 12 hours. The use of a smoked oven from a used drum is designed to have 3 shelves for eggs and fuel with wood husks. The people of the Sialang Baru Palm Oil UKM were very enthusiastic with the attendance of more than 70%. The counseling and practice of processing smoked salted eggs have educated the community to further develop their business in the future.

Abstract

Teknologi yang dapat membantu edukasi peternak Desa Sialang Baru yang dapat menjadi usaha ternak itik adalah peningkatan pengelolaan telur itik menjadi telur asin dengan berbagai rasa dan pembuatannya dengan teknologi asap cair. Kegiatan pengabdian bertujuan mengedukasi anggota UMKM petani Sawit Sialang Baru tentang pemanfaatan egg cadling untuk membantu proses penetasan telur itik dan pengolahan telur asin dengan asap cair yang memiliki beraneka macam rasa. Masyarakat sasaran berjumlah berkisar 15 orang. Metode pengabdian digunakan ada dua tahap, yaitu pertama, pembagian leaflet tentang manfaat dan cara menggunakan Egg candling dan pembuatan telur asin dengan asap cair. Kedua, pemberian materi dan praktek penggunaan egg candling dan pembuatan telur asin dengan pengasapan melalui kegiatan sosialisasi, berupa ceramah dan diskusi.Evaluasi pemahaman penyuluhan penggelolaan teknologi egg candling dan pengasapan cair pada telur itik dengan memberikan angket sebelum dan sesudah ceramah kepada semua peserta penyuluhan. Hasil angket ditabulasi dan dideskripsikan.Hasil yang didapatkan setelah penyuluhan yaitu sangat baik terhadap pengetahuan peserta terhadap materi yang diberikan dibandingkan sebelum penyuluhan. Materi yang disampaikan telah mengedukasi kelompok tani Sawit dalam pengembangan usaha mereka dimasa akan datang.

Abstract

Flood plain river is one of the characteristics of Riau Province. The difference between H. heterorhynchus fish and other species is its distinctive mouth and bent body. H. heterorhynchus is a fish with high economic value. These fish are often overfished, which can lead to a decline in the fish population in the future. Therefore, this research was carried out to be able to see the growth pattern, sex ratio and distribution of fish so that it can become the basis for information, cultivation and preservation of H. heterorhynchus. The number caught was 78 (56.67%) male fish and 36 (43.33%) female fish. The total body length of male fish is 19-41 and female fish is 19-50 cm, the total body weight of male fish is 40-310 g and female fish is 40-600 g. The allometric growth pattern of male and female fish was negative, with b values ​​of 2.8 (males) and 2.2 (females). Correlation analysis of H. heterorhynchus fish are r= 0.98 (male) and r=0.877 (female). The sex ratio of male and female fish is 1.16:1. Male fish are 19-22 cm and 23-26 cm (small fish), 27-30 cm and 31-34 cm (medium fish), and 35-38 cm and 39-42 cm (large fish). Female fish are 19-24 cm and 25-30 cm (small fish, 31-36 cm and 37-42 cm (medium fish), 43-48 cm and 49-54 cm (large fish).

Abstract

Sungai paparan banjir (floodplain river) merupakan salah satu ciri khas perairan tawar dari Provinsi Riau. Ikan Selais Bungkuk (Hemisilurus heterorhynchus) merupakan ikan air tawar yang bersifat demersal dan biasanya hidup di daerah tropis dengan sungai yang termasuk tipe sungai paparan banjir. H. heterorhynchussering ditangkap tanpa melihat ukuran sehingga ikan-ikan yang belum dewasa atau belum matang gonad juga ikut tertangkap. Apabila kondisi tersebut terus terjadi kemungkinan H. heterorhynchus akan mengalami penurunan populasi. Oleh sebab itu perlu adanya penelitian mengenai biologi reproduksi H. heterorhynchus untuk mengetahui perkembangan gonad, indeks kematangan gonad (IKG), diameter telur, fekunditas, hubungan fekunditas dengan panjang dan berat tubuh, musim pemijahan serta pola pemijahan ikan sehingga dapat dijadikan dasar upaya konservasi dan budidaya H. heterorhynchus. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dari bulan Oktober sampai bulan Maret di sungai Kampar Kiri. Ikan jantan dan betina matang gonad paling banyak ditemukan pada awal musim hujan di bulan Oktober dan November. IKG jantan tertinggi didapat pada bulan Oktober (0,24%) dan betina pada bulan November (2,80%).Fekunditas ikan H. heterorhynchus berkisar antara 6444-20654 butir. Pola pemijahan ikan H. heterorhynchus adalah sekali pemijahan dalam satu tahun (total spawner).
