Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the operational feasibility of machine’s tool by testing the characteristic of static geometric based on ISO-1708 standard. The object is Weiler Primus lathe located in Sam Ratulangi (Unsrat) engineering manufacturing laboratory. Examination covered five measurements, which is harmonization to the machine base and sledge, motion alignment head move off relatively against the sledge movement, accuracy of the main spindle, alignment of rote launcher axis fuse and the axle carrier’s accuracy due to keming in the bearing press. Measurement of the five tests were done because of the limitation of measuring tools which can support the other measurements. The result of deviation value obtained from the test will be compared with allowed deviation value based on ISO-1708 standard. The measurement result of the five types of tests shows that Weiler Primus’s lathe located in Unsrat engineering laboratory is conform with ISO 1708 standard. In other words, the late posses the ability and reliability to produce a product or tool with high accuracy with an average reliability of  99,370%. Keywords: Geometric Accuracy, Machine Tool’s. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was to find the cutting speed differences which significantly affect the temperature of turning. A testing by turning the lathe by using different rotation, depth of cut and feeding movement were executed. The results of this research shows that by increasing the cutting speed of the turning then the cutting speed temperature will increase. While with a 95% confidence level, it was found that the cutting speed does not affect the temperature of the tools chips and workpiece. Thus the 4461 J/minutes heat generated does not lead to a wear of tools and life time still high. Keyword: Cutting Speed, Turning, Cutting Temperature

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to get the influence of cutting speed variation and feeding rate variation on turning machine to work piece surface roughness. The problem in this research is how the influence of Cutting Speed and feeding rate on turning machine to work piece surface roughness with method of variance analysis. Therefore, studying the turning machine and measurement of surface roughnes with some work piece are requird. From the cutting calculation result, it is found that if cutting speed is increasing, the surface roughness is decreasing, while if feeding rate is increasing, the surface roughness is increasing. From the variance analysis with 95 % of confidence level, result of the cutting speed variation on turning machine will not give significant influence to work piece surface, and the result of feeding rate variation will give significant influence. Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to analyze the ratio of the snarled thickness on a lathe machine. The problem of this research is how the influence of the snarled thickness ratio on turning process with varying cutting speed and different cutting depth. Some tests on the turning process on a number of work pieces with same material type and different cutting condition is cerried out. The result shown that higher cutting speed make snarled thickness ratio weaken, while the larger cutting depth make snarled thickness ratio increased. With a 95% confidence level variation of cutting speed will influence to snarled thickness ratio on turning process either 0.25 mm of cutting depth or 1.00 mm of cutting depth Keywords: Snarled thickness ratio, cutting speed, cutting depth, turning process

Abstract

In this study whether the effect of cuts without using coolant differ significantly by cutting use liquid cooling to the power cut. To get the effect these cuts do testing on a lathe with a cutting speed varied. The results of this study, based on cutting anlisis detected by the fifth variation of the cutting speed will affect the power cut. With the greater the cutting speed will increase cutting power, good for lathing process with and without coolant. The process of turning the cooling liquid tends to be greater influence on cutting power compared to the lathing process without coolant. Based anlisis regression and correlation with level of 5% error hypothesis test two directions is known that in the process of turning cutting speed without coolant does not affect the power cut amounted to 73.48%. Abstract

The goal of  this research is related to findng the relationship between feeding rate against cutting rising temperature at machining process using analysis of varience.            The result showed that the greater of feeding rate, the higher heat produced in milling proses prom variance analisis at 95% confident level the increase of feeding rate will significant affect cetting temperature both at chips, cotting tools and working materials. Keywords : feeding rate,cetting temperature,maching.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to modify the plastic chopper and make a plastic counter with a manual drive system.The method used is four steps. The first step is to determine the modification plan. The second step is the selection of the use of modified materials. The third step is to make technical drawings. The fourth step is to make a modified plastic counter.The results of this modification can be obtained by a simple plastic counter unit using a manual drive system with a estimation time of 1012,500 minutes or 16,875 hours. The modified plastic chopper was able to count 69 plastic bottles of mineral water in 1 hour. Keywords: Modification, Plastic Counter, Manual Drive System

Abstract

The lathe machine is a machine tool that rotates a workpiece to perform cutting. Lathe it self constitutes a procces that cuts rotating workpiece used chisel that moves parallel with rotating axis. The cutting process will generate heat. The lathe machines is equipped with liquid direct contact cooling system to cooling the chisel and the workpiece. This research, observed the effect of cooling liquid flow rates toward the heat, generates by cutting procces of a cylindrical workpiece.The are two aims of this research. The first aim, is to calculate the gerenates by the cutting process of a cylindrical workpiece. The second aim, is to know the number of cooling liquid flow rates that is good to cooling the chisel and the workpiece. Experiment were done by three variations of cooling flow rates, that is regulated by the open angle of cooling liquid’s ball valve. There are three open angle variations that are 300, 600, 900.From the experiments, the used of the cooling liquid is able to cooling down the high temperature due to cutting process. At 900 open angle of cooling liquid’s ball valve showed a better effects of cooling process. However, the decreases of temperature done by 300 and 600 open angle position of cooling liquid’s ball valve are not significant. Abstract

This research is a test method carried out on the IXION BT 25 bench drill machine which has been developed using a cooling system. After the drill process is carried out on the test object, the drill chisel is measured for tool wear using a digital microscope measuring instrument.From the results of the measurement of drill chisel wear, it is obtained that a drill diameter of 8 mm results a tool wear of 0.3608 microns, a drill diameter of 12 mm brings a tool wear of 0.0540 microns. Whereas, a drill diameter of 17 mm results a tool wear of 0.1030 microns and a drill diameter of 23 mm brings a tool wear of 0.0108 microns. From these results, tool wear that occurs in the drilling process using the coolant developed on the IXION BT 25 bench drill machine will decrease with the larger the drill diameter. From the correlation analysis, it is found th at the relationship between drill diameter and tool wear tends to be very close with a correlation coefficient of 0.78467 and shows that the drill diameter and tool wear have opposite directions. Keywords: Chisel Wear, Drill Bit Diameter, Bench Drill Machine IXION

Abstract

This research talked about whether using a larger drill bit will decrease or increase electricity usage and whether the drill bit will affect electricity usage on the bench drill IXION BT 25 drill machine. The goal of this research is to analyze the tendency of increasing or decreasing electricity usage on the bench drill IXION BT 25 drill machine based on the relationship graphic between drill bit diameter and power usage based on test results on the drilling process using a coolant and doing some linear regression analysis to obtain the drill bit relationship which affects the electric motor power usage on the bench drill IXION BT 25 drill machine.From the results of the drilling process on the bench drill IXION BT 25 drill machine which has been developed with the coolant, it is found that when the larger diameter of the drill bit is used, the electricity usage will increase. From the results of linear regression analysis, the relationship Y=-0,00088+0,00016X was obtained. It shows that the effect of drill bit diameter on electricity usage from test results on the bench drill IXION BT 25 drill machine which has been developed using a coolant is, every time drill bit diameter increases by 1 mm, the electricity usage increases by 0,00016 KWHKeywords:    Drill Bit, Electric Power Consumption, Bench Drill IXION BT 25 Drill Machine
