Abstract

A century ago, Sosrowijayan Wetan was a homogenous place and all of its inhabitants were Javanese. However, tourist accommodation development in the area gave rise to globalization. As a result, Sosrowijayan Wetan transformed into an international tourist neighborhood, especially for backpackers. The differences of value between expatriates and local people stimulated transformation in Sosrowijayan Wetan, for instance, in spatial and socio-cultural aspects. The destabilizing effect of this transformation involved a highly complex process with an important consequence in the continuity of the local identity. The purpose of this study was to investigate the continuity of local identity in Sosrowijayan Wetan. A constructivist grounded theory as qualitative methods was utilized. The transcribed data were constantly built into a collective story. It was found that most insiders continued to hold onto and identify with the traditional ways of life and felt strong ties to their neighborhood. However, the structures and the values in this community seemed to be more resistant to change. Therefore, local initiative for cultural resilience became more important because the decline of local culture might lead to more multicultural problems. For instance, if the insiders were not interested in supporting the initiative through their participation in the organization, multicultural interaction problems would proliferate. This relationship influenced the continuity of local identity through its adaptation strategy for the cultural resilience.

Abstract

Phenomena that occur in Indonesia, is the existence of a education facilities like university in rural areas, one of which occurred in Semarang, that is placed Diponegoro University in Tembalang (the upper region of Semarang). The existence of Undip in this suburb as a form of the development of the city that was equitable development with the spread of urban facilities. This research uses a quantitative approach. The Results of this research that is the existence of Undip influenced the development of settlement in Tembalang Village and Pedalangan Village. For the whole region in Tembalang Village is affected by the exsitence of the Undip. For the development of settlement in Pedalangan Village is divided into two parts, that is the development of the northern part of physical and non- physical areas affected by the existence of educational activities such as the existence of the Undip College, then the existence of Politekkes and other educational activities . Another region Pedalangan Village, the southern region for the development of physical and non-physical are affected by the exsitence of the Perumnas and because of the development of Banyumanik region.

Abstract

As a peri-urban area of Yogyakarta City, Sleman Regency has become transition zone in which the transitions of land use and socio-economic are occurred. Those transitions have resulted in diversed socio-economic background of people who live in Sleman Regency. In the context of urban development, if the diversed socio-economic factor is unmanaged, the diversed socio-economic factor may become a vulnerable factor related to discrimination of minority group resulting lack of public participation due to lack of coordination among local people and migrants. Discrimination or exclusion to a certain group or community in residential area is usually called as residential segregation. In terms of study, researcher is going to reveal about “is there any influence of social behavior to residential segregation? If so, then how strong the influence of social behavior to residential segregation?”. Analysis of influence of social behavior is conducted to socio economic factor. This study conducts a quantitative method. Referring to the analysis result, there are segregations which are emerged in research area mainly segregation by income and segregation by education level. Both of segregations show that socio-economic factors have influenced the emergence of segregation especially for the variable of income level. The variable of income level has been proven influencing the segregation by income level about 20,8% and segregation by education level about 19%. Some areas which is included into weak segregation are Ngaglik, Depok, Berbah, Gamping and Ngemplak while some areas which is included into strong segregation are Godean, Kalasan, Ngemplak and Sleman.

Abstract

Berdasarkan RTRW Kota Palu Tahun 2010 – 2030, Koridor Sis Al-Jufri ditetapkan sebagai kawasan wisata religi dengan keberadaan Yayasan Pendidikan Al-Khairaat sebagai aktivitas utama. Keberadaan koridor ini juga terdapat berbagai aktivitas pendukung seperti aktivitas ekonomi / perdagangan, sosial kemasyarakatan dan kesehatan dan peribadatan. Dengan beragam aktivitas didalamnya, sehingga dapat menyebabkan terjadinya perubahan morfologi ruang pada koridor Sis Al-Jufri, seperti perubahan peruntukan lahan dari permukiman menjadi kawasan perdagangan dan jasa, terdapat beberapa bangunan hunian berubah fungsi menjadi bangunan komersial untuk kegiatan perdagangan dan jasa mengikuti tuntutan pasar. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan analisis deskriptif digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi perubahan morfologi ruang yang terjadi pada koridor Sis Al-Jufri, analisis regresi logistik digunakan untuk mengetahui pengaruh faktor sosial, faktor ekonomi dan faktor kebijakan terhadap perubahan morfologi ruang pada koridor Sis Al-Jufri. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah perubahan morfologi ruang yang terjadi di Koridor Sis Al-Jufri mengalami perubahan sebesar 34,46 % dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perubahan morfologi ruang pada Koridor Sis Al-Jufri saat ini secara signifikan adalah lama bermukim, kepemilikan bangunan, pekerjaan, kepemilikan IMB, dan pengaturan GSB.

Abstract

Karst region village Beketel show growth and development of the settlements, it is marked by the increasing number of houses that are in the area. The increase in population resulted in more and more people are using the karst region Beketel village to settle and reside. socio-economic constraints of low income earners, as well as heredity and family that causes them choose to stay at home is simple with limited infrastructure is not adequate influenced by the physical condition of karst region. In looking at the settlement typology of karst areas Beketel Village methodology of the research is to Diskriptif Qualitative methods. To know the typology of the village settlements in the karst region Beketel, can be identified through a settlement typology approach by looking at the elements of the settlement, the settlement eksisiting conditions, condition of facilities working paper, the tendency of society in the living, as well as settlement patterns are formed. The final results obtained from studies typology settlement karst region village beketel districts Kayen district starch is a settlement patterns closer to the sources of clean water are affected by the condition of the availability of clean water sources, settlement patterns spread is influenced by the physical condition of nature that makes people choose to stay in the valley between karst hills, as well as settlement patterns formed extends all the way because of the orientation of building a house facing to the road as well as their kinship that makes people build houses adjacent to relatives who still has a relationship kinship.

Abstract

Urbanisasi merupakan proses terjadinya pengkotaan suatu desa sehingga menyebabkan rencana pembangunan kota menjadi tidak terkendali sehingga menimbulkan Urban Sprawl. Urbanisasi akan di proyeksikan beberapa tahun mendatang akan terjadi di Kabupaten Kendal, dikarenakan Pengembangan Kawasan Industri Jababeka di Kendal dalam skala yakni pada area seluas 2200 hektar. Tentu akan membawa dampak yang cukup signifikan, keberadaan lahan pertanian akan terancam akibat meningkatnya permintaan lahan. Upaya untuk membatasi Urban Sprawl di perkotaan kendal dapat dilakukan dengan konsep Compact City sebagai model pengembangan kota yang efisien. Dari itu, di perlukannya Urban Compactness untuk menimalisir Urban Sprawl di Perkotaan Kendal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur tingkat kekompakan kota di Wilayah Perkotaan Kendal, sehingga di perlukannya derajat pengukuran kota kompak yang disebut dengan Urban Compactness. Pengukuran Urban Compactness berdasarkan keseluruhan indikator Compact City antara lain, indikator Urban Compactness yang digunakan meliputi kepadatan, percampuran fungsi, aksesbilitas kota, dan kerterkaitan jaringan jalan dan transportasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif yang dipakai dalam mengidentifikasi Urban Compactness di Wilayah Perkotaan Kendal, dengan teknik analisis yang digunakan untuk menjawab tujuan dan sasaran. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif, analisis spasial, dan analisis scoring. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Urban Compactness di Wilayah Perkotaan Kendal, mengenai setiap indikator Compact City dalam penentuan Urban Compactness menunjukkan bahwa, pada tingkat Urban Compactness tertinggi berada di Kecamatan Kendal, sedangkan tingkat Urban Compactness sedang berada di Kecamatan Pegandon, dan tingkat Urban Compactness terendah terdapat di Kecamatan Brangsong, Kecamatan kaliwungu, Kecamatan Ngampel, dan Kecamatan Patebon.

Abstract

Limited land in the centre of the city will encourage people to choose residing in the suburb area as alternative, which of course also effect transformation in those areas. Spatial transformation that occured in peri-urban area will change the pattern of space utilization existed in that region. The population growth rate of Malang city is approximately 0,86% larger than that in East Java (0,75%). The increasing number of population growth in Malang occured unevenly in all parts of the city. The purpose of this research is to review the spatial transformation occuring in peri-urban area of Malang city by firstly analyzing the location of peri-urban based on its land usage. The analysis is conducted with geographic information system ArcGis 9.3, which is benefited to analyze map overlay dan kernel density analyze. Based on the result of analysis, it is discovered that there is a difference of spatial transformation between the north and south region of peri-urban areas in Malang city. Kedung Kandang district, which is located in the south region, experienced a low transformation with a linier trend of developing land pattern. Meanwhile, Lowokwaru district is experiencing high transformation with a concentric trend of developing land pattern. This difference occured due to several factors, which are population factor like high growth population, center of activity, accessibility, the role of developer, and policy factor related with direction of spatial region patter.The trend of distribution pattern in population density and developed land aimed on the northern part of the city indicated the direction of the city development trend.

Abstract

Based on RDTR of Palangkarya City in 2009, Kahayan riverside area is included in the green belt /conservation zone. But the facts, there are utilizations of water bodies as residential land, besides; housing problems are growing organically throughout the location of the study area. Based on these points,the purpose of this study is to analyze characteristics of the society based on socio-economic factors that people take into consideration to live there and to know its influence on the pattern of spread of Kahayan riverside settlements in Palangkaraya. The approach used in this research is quantitative descriptive and thematic approach. Coverage of discussion / substance in this study is about the socio-economic characteristics of the community as well as the physical characteristics of Kahayan riverside neighborhoods, and the factors that are considered by society to live, as well as its influence on the spread pattern of Kahayan riverside settlement area. As for the results, the overall socio-economic characteristics and environmental influence the characteristics of the settlement pattern in Kahayan riverside area significantly (over 80%). Where the results of the crosstab analysis, variables that have been identified in the economic characteristics such as (livelihood, income level) influence by 82%. While the specific characteristics of social (ethnic) by 76% and physical-environmental characteristics (topography) 88%. It is proved that the socio-economic aspects indirectly affect the patterns of people’s settlement. Socio-economic conditions of the riverside area community in the study area indicates that the livelihoods that "near by home" became the reason in preferenced settlement with a dominant percentage, equal to 32.5%. In the aspect of physical condition, the highest percentage of 47.26% with 813 dwellings located on a slope of 0-8% which is lower classification. NNA results obtained dispersed pattern or evenly spread with an index value ratio> 2.58 is equal to 34.3. All the results of analysis are formulated in the zoning plan formulation with resettlement concept and settlement patterns, where the development of settlement patterns are in accordance with socio-economic characteristics in the study area is a grid across the Langkai and Pahandut Seberang villages and pattern combination in the Pahandut village.

Abstract

Caturtunggal area is a residential area that is growing rapidly, especially in commercial activities. Current commercial activities have expanded into residential areas. Caturtunggal is one of the regions with an educational function and has become a new center of growth in Sleman Regency with the presence of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and Yogyakarta State University (UNY). The development of commercial activities in the region to facilitate trade activities and services between people in need such as students (demand) and people who sell services (supply) that can create workers in urban areas so that they can contribute to the regional economy and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). The purpose of this study is to determine the development of changes in spatial use from settlements to commercial activities in the Education Area and formulate the factors that cause a shift in the use of space in the region. The method used in this research is quantitative methods and analysis techniques using spatial analysis, descriptive statistical analysis and factor analysis. The subject of this research is small-medium commercial activity in the Caturtunggal region. The results of this study were found as a phenomenon of 70% shift in the use of space to be commercially caused by 5 factors, namely economic factors, the existence of educational areas, locations, market preferences, and access.

Abstract

Current development in Surakarta downtown today indicates that traditional markets have improved themselves in both physical and non-physical aspects. Various revitalization efforts have been made by the government and traders community to improve services and comfort of traditional markets. The efforts start from the market façade revitalization, restoration and the overall development of market; up to social activities, competition between traders or large celebrations in the neighbourhood market. This research was conducted in Surakarta, which is aimed at: identifying the role of traditional market revitalization efforts in the development of a city. This study employs several methods of analysis, namely: 1) Spatial analysis for mapping the distribution of traditional markets in the city constellation, 2) Category-Based Analysis (CBA) to classify the revitalization of traditional markets that has an influence in the development of the city, and 3) Interactive Method of Analysis. The results of this study indicate that the presence of a constellation of traditional markets in Surakarta is dominated by the presence of Gede Market, not only as the oldest traditional market, but also as a center of economic and socio-cultural activities of the community. The role of traditional market revitalization in the development of a town is as an Urban Catalyst towards a MICE city in the sense that the revitalization effort, even done in a relatively short time and not yet covering the overall objects, is able to establish brand image of Surakarta as a city of culture which is friendly and ready to be MICE tourism city.
