Abstract

Due to the rapid developments in the current digitalization era, information technology has affected almost every aspect of life. In the construction world, the influence of developments in information technology has led to the emergence of a building database concept called Building Information Modeling (BIM). The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has issued Ministerial Regulation Number 22/PRT/M/2018 and strengthened by PP Number 16 of 2021 regarding the implementation of BIM. Thus, the application of BIM in building projects, especially those owned by the government, has become necessary. Therefore, it is important to carry out BIM training to prepare human resources (HR) who can use BIM-based building design software. The BIM training was held in collaboration with the Human Settlements section of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR Agency) of South Kalimantan Province. The participants were not only workers of the PUPR Agency but also construction practitioners in the South Kalimantan Province. From the pre-test results, it can be seen that the participants still lack understanding and mastery of BIM software. Meanwhile, after the BIM training was held, there was a significant increase in the participants' mastery and understanding based on the post-test results.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of ceramic waste differences (types BIa and BIIb) as substitute for sand by 15% on the mechanical properties of paving block and their utilization in construction industry. Two types of samples were used: mortar (50x50x50 mm) and paving block (210x110x60 mm). The mortar sample variations were 25% BIa and 75% BIIb (M1), 50% BIa and 50% BIIb (M2), 75% BIa and 25% BIIb (M3), 100% BIa (M4) and 100% BIIb (M5). The paving block sample variations were 50% BIa and 50% BIIb (BB1), 75% BIa and 25% BIIb (BB2), and 100% BIa (BB3). Mechanical properties were analyzed according to the compressive strength test for both samples and also water absorption for paving block samples. The difference in the quality of ceramic waste affects the compressive strength, which was confirmed by compressive strength test and ANOVA test. The M4 had the highest compressive strength (16 MPa) for mortar sample, while BB3 had the highest compressive strength (25 MPa) for paving block sample. However, based on BB2 and BB3 compressive strength and absorption tests, the two samples can be categorized into the same quality (B quality) based on SNI 03-0691-1996. Thus, BB2 variation is recommended to be applied as material for making parking lots. This is due to the number of BIa-type ceramics being relatively less when compared to BIIb. For pedestrian paths, variation of  BB1 is proposed.

Abstract

Abstract

South Kalimantan has a tropical climate with high rainfall and high humidity. The weather in this area can also change rapidly, with strong winds and heavy rain, potentially damaging buildings and infrastructure. In recent decades, there have been significant improvements in building design and construction, especially in terms of strength and safety. However, many buildings are still vulnerable to wind damage, especially in areas prone to storms or strong winds. This research aims to simulate the effect of wind on a simple residential building in South Kalimantan measuring 6.0 m x 6.0 m, with varying roof slope angles of 15, 30, 35, and 40 degrees, using Thunderhead Pyrosim Software Version 6.9.1 (Academic License).. Based on the results of this study, it can be known that according to online BMKG data, the maximum wind speed that occurs in South Kalimantan is 21 m/det, and based on the results of software simulation, it can be known that the greater the slope angle of the roof, the greater the Cd (drag coefficient) / resistance of the building, which means that the building will have a higher possibility of being carried away by the wind. Conversely, a lower drag coefficient value indicates that the roof will be more resistant to wind flow pressure, or in other words, more aerodynamic, so that houses in windy areas can use roofs with a small slope angle (15o - 35o ) or concave roofs for better aerodynamics, and provide a barrier in the direction of the wind.
