Abstract

Hypnobirthing, a self-hypnosis practice aiding natural childbirth, lacks sufficient empirical evidence on its efficacy in mitigating labor pain, particularly during active phase I. This quasi-experimental study assessed hypnobirthing's effectiveness using a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design with 30 primi delivery mothers. Results indicated a significant reduction in pain levels (p = 0.000) among the hypnobirthing group compared to controls, emphasizing its potential as a non-pharmacological pain management tool. Integrating hypnobirthing into midwifery practice could enhance birthing experiences and mitigate risks associated with pathological labor, suggesting avenues for further research into its broader applicability and long-term effects. Highlight: Significant Pain Reduction: Hypnobirthing reduces active phase I labor pain significantly. Non-Pharmacological Tool: Effective alternative to pharmacological pain management during childbirth. Midwifery Practice: Enhances birthing experiences and reduces future pregnancy complications. Keywoard: Hypnobirthing, labor pain, active phase, quasi-experimental, midwifery

Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of curcuma (Curcuma longa) in increasing the body weight of underweight toddlers. Using a Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest design, 20 underweight toddlers from Dharma Wanita Persatuan Gebang Kindergarten and TPA Al Ma’arif Sidoarjo were given 2.5 grams of curcuma mixed with water daily for two weeks. Body weight was measured before and after the intervention. The Paired Simple T-Test analysis showed a significant increase in body weight (p = 0.000). These results suggest that curcuma is an effective intervention for increasing body weight in underweight toddlers. Highlight: Administered curcuma to 20 underweight toddlers for two weeks. Significant weight gain observed (p = 0.000). Curcuma effective for increasing toddler body weight. Keyword: Underweight, Nutritional status, Toddlers, Curcuma, Body weight

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between diet, medical history, and nutritional status in 48 children aged 3-5 from Kindergarten Tegalasri Village, Blitar Regency. Using observational analysis with a cross-sectional approach, data on eating habits and medical records were collected. The results, analyzed using chi-square tests, indicated no significant correlation between diet or viral disease history and the children's nutritional status. These findings suggest that factors beyond diet and infections may play a more significant role in determining the nutritional status of children in this demographic, highlighting the need for further research and targeted interventions to promote better nutritional outcomes Highlight: Children's Nutrition: Diet and Medical History Impact on Well-being. Abstract

Stunting is malnutrition related to nutritional insufficiency in the past so that nutritional problems are chronic. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is higher than other ASEAN countries, ranking fifth in the world. Functional food can be used as an alternative in preventing toddler stunting, one of which is by adding Moringa leaves to the snacks that toddlers like, namely sempol and pudding. The purpose of this study was to determine the chemical characteristics of moringa leaf-based snacks, namely sempol and pudding. The study uses a nested design with two factors. The first factor is the type of preparations, namely sempol and pudding, while the second factor is the concentration of the addition of Moringa leaves, namely 5%, 10% and 15%. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and minitab. The research results showed no significant effect on the values of water content, ash content, protein and fat content in sempol and moringa pudding. Based on the test results, the water content of sempol with moringa 15% is 54%, with an ash content of 2.11%, a fat content of 1.56% and a protein content of 36.58%. Meanwhile, 15% Moringa pudding has a moisture content of 77.5%, ash content of 0.36%, fat content of 5.97%, and protein content of 17.26%. Highlights: Prevalence of Stunting: Stunting is a critical malnutrition issue, especially in Indonesia, ranking fifth globally among ASEAN countries, highlighting the urgent need for effective interventions. Functional Food Approach: Incorporating Moringa leaves into popular toddler snacks (sempol and pudding) offers a potential solution to combat stunting through improved nutritional value and dietary diversity. Chemical Characteristics Study: The research examines the impact of Moringa leaf concentration (5%, 10%, 15%) on water, ash, protein, and fat content in both snacks, providing valuable insights into their nutritional profiles.
