Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Motivation is essential in improving medication adherence in hypertensive patients. Non-adherence to medication is often a significant obstacle in the management of high blood pressure, leading to an increased risk of serious complications such as heart disease and stroke. This study analyzes the relationship between patients' motivation levels and adherence to hypertension treatment regimens. Methods: The research design used is descriptive-analytical with a cross-sectional approach to hypertensive patients in a health clinic. Data were collected through questionnaires that measured motivation and adherence to medication. Results: The results of the analysis showed that patients with high motivation had better compliance levels than those with low motivation (p < 0.05). Contributing motivational factors include family support, understanding of the benefits of treatment, and confidence in managing the hypertension condition. Conclusions: Strong motivation plays a significant role in improving medication adherence in hypertensive patients, so health workers need to strengthen the motivational aspect of patient education and counseling programs. This is expected to help reduce the risk of complications and improve the quality of life of hypertensive patients.

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a global health problem that impacts children's growth and development. One of the main factors contributing to stunting is the lack of maternal knowledge about balanced nutrition. Nutrition education is expected to increase mothers' understanding of healthy eating and toddler stunting prevention practices. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of nutrition education on changes in maternal behavior in preventing stunting in toddlers. Materials and Methods: This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach with a control group. The sample consisted of mothers with toddlers, selected by purposive sampling. The intervention group was given nutrition education through counseling media and interactive discussions, while the control group did not receive the intervention. Results: The study showed a significant increase in mothers' knowledge and practice of nutrition after being given nutrition education (p<0.05). In addition, there were substantial differences between the intervention and control groups regarding stunting prevention behavior. Conclusions: Nutrition education has been proven effective in increasing maternal knowledge and behavior and preventing toddler stunting. Therefore, public health programs need to expand nutrition education interventions to reduce stunting incidence.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem still a public health challenge in Indonesia. One of the factors contributing to the high prevalence of stunting is the lack of knowledge of parents, especially mothers, about balanced nutritional intake and proper practices of feeding Complementary Breast Milk (MP-ASI). This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of mothers under five related to the importance of nutritious food and the practice of giving MP-ASI in accordance with the guidelines of WHO and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. The methods used are education through interactive counseling, demonstrations of making local food-based MP-ASI, and question and answer sessions. The target of the activity was 40 mothers with children aged 6-24 months in the Posyandu in the assisted area. The evaluation results showed an increase in participants' knowledge by 65% after participating in educational activities. In addition, 80% of participants stated that they were motivated to implement MP-ASI feeding practices that are in accordance with the principles of balanced nutrition. This activity also encourages the use of affordable and nutritious local food resources. With the increase in mothers' knowledge and skills in compiling and delivering MP-ASI, it is hoped that the risk of stunting in early childhood can be minimized. This service activity proves that education-based interventions and direct practices can effectively support programs to accelerate stunting reduction at the community level. The recommendation for the future is to expand the scope of similar activities with cross-sectoral collaboration, especially among health workers and posyandu cadres.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. One of the main contributing factors to this issue is the lack of public knowledge and awareness regarding risk factors and the importance of early prevention. This community service program aimed to improve knowledge and awareness among women of reproductive age about NCD prevention through health promotion and educational intejrventions. The activity was conducted at UPTD Yosomulyo Health Center on September 15, 2023, involving 60 participants. The methods included a pretest to assess baseline knowledge, interactive health education sessions using audiovisual materials and discussions, distribution of health promotion leaflets, and a posttest to evaluate knowledge improvement. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding, where the proportion of respondents achieving high posttest scores (11–15) increased from 73% to 96%. This finding indicates that health promotion through structured educational interventions effectively enhances community knowledge and awareness regarding NCD prevention. The program demonstrates the importance of sustained health education initiatives as a promotive and preventive strategy, supporting national efforts to reduce the burden of NCDs through community empowerment and behavior change.
