Abstract

Penelitian ini untuk menyelidiki hasrat subjek Sartika melalui puisi-puisinya yang terkumpul dalam antologi puisi Elegi Titi Gantung sebagai upaya mengungkapkan ke-diri-an subjek yang selalu tersembunyi karena direpresi oleh aturan, hukum, dan budaya. Tujuan tersebut muncul karena subjek (manusia) tidak pernah benar-benar mengetahui hasratnya. Hasrat tersebut selalu digantikan dengan objek hasrat yang lain. Berdasarkan permasalah tersebut, maka persoalan yang diangkat adalah (1) bagaimana rangkaian penanda sebagai manifestasi hasrat Sartika Sari melalui mekanisme metafora dan metonimia dalam kumpulan puisi Elegi Titi Gantung? (2) Bagaimana hasrat Sartika Sari yang termanifestasikan dalam kumpulan puisi Elegi Titi Gantung? Penelitian ini menggunakan perspektif Lacanian, yaitu untuk menemukan kondisi bawah sadar subjek (penyair). Hasil penelitian ini adalah Sartika berhasrat untuk menjadi perempuan eksis dan menjadi perempuan idaman. Menjadi perempuan eksis akan menunjukkan keberadaan diri Sartika sebagai subjek di tatanan Simbolik. Sementara, menjadi perempuan yang diidamkan merupakan bentuk negosiasi Sartika pada dirinya yang menginginkan kebebasan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengungkapkan hasrat pengarang dalam novel A Thousand Splendid Suns karya Khaled Hosseini, yang merupakan hasrat-hasrat pengarang sebagai subjek yang berkekurangan dan berhasrat untuk memperoleh keutuhan identitasnya. Penelitian ini menjawab dua pertanyaan: bagaimana hasrat Khaled Hosseini termanifestasikan dalam novel A Thousand Splendid Suns?; ?hasrat menjadi? dan ?hasrat memiliki? Khaled Hosseini yang seperti apa yang termanifestasikan dalam novel A Thousand Splendid Suns? Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan teori dan metode psikoanalisis Lacan. Psikoanalisis Lacan membahas hasrat manusia melalui bahasa (penanda) dengan mekanisme metafora dan metonimia. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa novel A Thousand Splendid Suns merupakan manifestasi dari hasrat dan kekurangan yang ada pada diri Khaled Hosseini sebagai pengarang melalui hasrat untuk menjadi (narsistik) dan hasrat memiliki (anaklitik).This study reveals the author's desire in Khaled Hosseini's A Thousand Splendid Suns, which is the author's desires as a subject of lack and desires to obtain his identity. This study will answer two questions: 1) How does Khaled Hosseini's desire manifested in A Thousand Splendid Suns?; 2) What is the Khaled Hosseini?s desire-to-be and desire-to-have manifested in A Thousand Splendid Suns?. This study was done by using theory and method of Lacanian psychoanalysis. Lacanian psychoanalysis discusses human desire through language (signifier) with metaphor and metonymy mechanisms. The results prove that A Thousand Splendid Suns is a manifestation of the desires and lack that exist in Khaled Hosseini as the author through the desire to be (narcissistic) and the desire to have (anaclitic).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui bagaimana dua elemen budaya Jawa, yaitu kerelaan berbagi dan keberanian berbeda mengalami perubahan dari waktu ke waktu. Upaya itu dilakukan dengan menganalisis dwilogi novel Para Priyayi dan Jalan Menikung karya Umar Kayam. Un tuk mencapai tujuan tersebut digunakan konsep-konsep yang dikemukakan oleh Kayam sendiri dalam menciptakan novel-novelnya. Selain itu, digunakan juga konsep model of dan model for yang dikemukakan oleh Clifford Geertz dalam menginterpretasikan kebudayaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam dwilogi karya Umar Kayam nilai kerelaan berbagi diwujudkan dalam berbagai relasi, baik relasi antar anggota keluarga maupun relasi sosial dari waktu ke waktu. Berbeda dengan nilai tersebut, nilai keberanian berbeda sulit diwujudkan dalam berbagai relasi, baik relasi antar anggota keluarga maupun relasi sosial. Kesulitan itu terjadi karena ada perbedaan kelas sosial, perbedaan orientasi dalam beragama Islam, perbedaan pandangan tentang kesempatan bagi wong cilik untuk mengenyam pendidikan, perbedaan agama, perbedaan orientasi politik di dalam dua novel tersebut. Namun, dalam hal perbedaan kelas sosial dan perbedaan agama tidak selamanya berani berbeda itu tidak bisa bersama.Abstract: This research aims to interpret how two elements of Javanese culture, those are a willingness to divisible and bravery to difference change from time to time. That effort has done with analyze Umar Kayam's novel Para Priyayi and Jalan Men Kung. This reasearch uses Kayam's concepts in the creative process. Besides that, is used the model of and model for concepts from Clifford Geertz in the interpretation of culture. The result of this research shows that in Kayam's novel values of willingness to divisible shown in the relation between members of the family or social relationship, from time to time. Different from a willingness to divisible, values of bravery to difference difficult to show in relation between members of the family or social relationship. The difficulties are happened because be found the difference of social class, a difference of orientation in Islam as religion, a difference of view about the opportunity for wong cilik to access education, difference of religion, difference of political orientation. Nevertheless, in the difference of social class and difference of religion is not forever bravery of difference is can't together.Key Words: willingness to divisible, bravery to difference, model of, model for

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to express Putu Wijaya's novels transition from mimetic, in this paper we called it as modern novel, by taking Pabrik as sample, to the unm imetic novels that we cal led as postmodern novelsby taking Telegram and Stasiun as the sample. The research approach based on Mc Hale Theory (Postmodernist Fiction, 1991 ). Accoeding to him, the transition from modern to pascarnodern novel is signed by a dominant change: from epistemological dominant to ontological dominant. Pabrik rises accessibility. reliability or unreliability, circulation issues and knowledge transmission about factory world through its characters. This novel expresses the mistery of Tirtoatmojo family, the factory director. But, in the gap of cpystemological dominant, in chapter Ill appears the ontological dorn in ant. Ontological dominant appears only once in Pabrik, but in Telegram and Stasiun ontological dominant and epystcmological. dominant eppear by change. The appear of ontological dominant characteristic in Putu Wijaya's novels have similar relationship with pluralistic ontologism landscape that is the character of post modern condition. The reality in this condition is named unreality by Mc Hale.

Abstract

This article tries to determine the factors causing the Low Malay short stories became unaccounted, especially those that were collected in Miss Koelit Koetjing (2005), in the constellation of the history of modern Indonesian literature. To answer these problems, this paper explores the criteria applied by the author of the history of Indonesian literature, comparing it with the Low Malay short stories, and relates them to their cultural historical context.The results showed the reason that Low Malay short stories collected in Miss Koelit Koetjing were not accounted, are caused by the following factors. First, most of the short stories still retain the traditional genres, such as hikayat (saga) and fairy tales, which show the strength of the cultural orientation of the past. Second, the authors of short stories are not natives; the author is not in the sense of the creator, the creator, but a storyteller, just to recount a story that has been there before. Third, short stories were published in newspapers and not in the book form. Fourth, the world of their stories came from diverse cultures and not from the world of the Indonesian archipelago. With a similar reality, it can be concluded that the short stories collected in Miss Koelit Koetjing, in the broad realm of Low Malay literature, is a literary tradition of its own in the constelation history of Indonesian literature.

Abstract

This research study intends to reveal the extent to which Larung (2001), as arecent Indonesian novel, shows postmodern features, especially in its construction,concerning the worlds under erasure and the Chinese box worlds.The theory adopted in the study is that of postmodern fiction by Brian McHale.The method employed is semiotics by Hurshovsky. The theory and method are basedon the assumption that postmodern fiction is ontological in nature. This is differentfrom modern fiction, which is epistemological in nature. According to McHale, theontological nature comprises zones, construction, words, and groundings. Thisstudy investigates, in particular, the construction in Larung.The research findings show that in Larung there are features classified by McHaleinto construction, covering the worlds under erasure and the Chinese box worlds.In the former, Larung explores the features proposed by McHale, namely somethingalways happening, something always existing, excluded middles, forking paths,and a sense of a (non) ending. In the latter Larung also explores features proposedby McHale, namely moving toward infinite regression, trompe-l’oell, strange loops,characters in search of an author, abysmal fictions, and something real. However,in terms of moving toward infinite regression Larung shows opposite features; itdoes not narrate things backward continuously, but it moves backward and forwardto the present. Therefore, Larung can be classified as novel with a postmodernconstruction.

Abstract

This study aims to describe characterization of pre-Indonesian characters and therelationship between characterization patterns and the process of the appearance of pre-Indonesian identities in pre-Indonesian stories. The data sources were stories entitled: (1)“Busono” by Raden Mas Tirto Adhi Soerjo, (2) “Tjerita Si Tjonat” by F.D.J. Pangemanan,(3) “Tjerita Njai Dasima” by G. Francis, (4) “Tjerita Njonja Kong Hong Nio” and (5)“Tjerita Nji Paina” by H. Kommer. Several concepts to answer the problems were pre-Indonesian identities, characterization, and focalization. The findings are as follows. First,characters in pre-Indonesian stories and the relationship with pre-Indonesian identitiesshow that some are self-aware and some are not. Second, the existence of characters inpre-Indonesian stories with characterization shows that pre-Indonesian identities havea relationship with the authors’ focalization.

Abstract

The aim of the research to describe (1) Sembilan Pucuk laws in Tambo Minangkabau; (2) custom and syarak as the guidelines in Tambo Minangkabau; (3) the command to obey Penghulu based on the custom and syarak. This study concludes that the three theme motifs in Tambo Minangkabau strengthen the role of adat and religion. In Minangkabau, both are present in the history of creating the Minangkabau country, which began with the Nan Nine Pucuk Law as legitimacy. Further, Balai adat (customary hall) and mosques are symbols of harmony between customs and religion in determining the provisions. Indeed, the community leaders, in this case, Penghulu, need to be obeyed because the customs have appointed them based on Qur’an and Hadith (religion).Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan (1) Undang-Undang Nan sembilan pucuk dalam Tambo Minangkabau; (2) adat dan agama sebagai pedoman dalam Tambo Minangkabau; (3) perintah menaati penghulu berdasarkan adat dan agama. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa ketiga motif tema dalam Tambo Minangkabau memberikan penguatan peran adat dan agama. Di Minangkabau, keduanya hadir dalam sejarah penciptaan negeri Minangkabau yang diawali dengan adanya Undang-Undang Nan Sembilan Pucuk sebagai legitimasi. Selanjutnya, balai adat dan masjid adalah simbol keharmonisan adat dan agama yang saling berkaitan dalam menentukan keputusan dan ketentuan. Bahkan pemimpin kaum, dalam hal ini penghulu, perlu ditaati perintahnya karena penghulu merupakan pemimpin yang ditetapkan oleh adat dan ditentukan oleh al Quran dan hadis atau agama.

Abstract

Novel Gentayangan merupakan novel karya Intan Paramaditha yang menggambarkan kehidupan warga negara ketiga yang bepergian dan hidup di negara pertama. Intan Paramaditha merupakan seorang warga negara ketiga yang telah lebih dari satu dekade hidup berpindah tempat dari satu kota dan negara. Makalah ini meneliti tentang hasrat Intan Paramaditha yang termanifestasikan dalam novel Gentayangan. Untuk menjawab permasalahan tersebut, digunakan teori dan metode psikoanalisis Lacan. Psikoanalisis Lacan membahas hasrat manusia yang diungkapkan melalui bahasa atau penanda melalui mekanisme metafora dan metonimia. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa novel Gentayangan adalah manifestasi hasrat dan kekurangan Intan sebagai pengarang melalui hasrat untuk menjadi (narsistik) dan hasrat untuk memiliki (anaklitik) demi mencapai keutuhan diri. Dalam penelitian ini juga ditemukan bahwa sebagai subjek berhasrat dan berkekurangan, Intan melakukan perlawanan terhadap Yang Simbolik (hukum) melalui novel Gentayangan, dengan demikian dalam teori psikoanalisis Lacan, Intan Paramaditha adalah subjek maskulin yang mengalami pengebirian oleh adanya hukum atas nama ayah (ayah simbolik).

Abstract

One Indonesian novel which shows a new feature is Asmaraloka, written by Danarto. The aim of this article is to show the novel’s dominant characteristics on which the new feature is grounded. Based on the concept of foregrounded strategy of repertoire by Iser, I conclude that Asmaraloka presents some dominant characteristics of the ontological theme or the mode theme of the existence of the world. The modes of the existence of the world can be observed in the novel in that there are (1) boundary vagueness between the world of man and angel, (2) boundary vagueness between the world of man and the world of animal, (3) boundary vagueness between the world of man and the world of plant, (4) boundary vagueness between the world of man and the world of world objects, (5) boundary vagueness between the world of man and the world of animal, plant, and world object, (6) boundary transgression between the world of man and the world of Satan, (7) boundary vagueness between the world of man and the world of fairy tale, (8) emergence of the afterlife, (9) inserted zone, (10) the fight between the world of angel and the world of Satan, and (11) the dialogue between the angel with parts of human body. By revealing the diversity of the mode of the world, Asmaraloka presents plurality of the world.
