Abstract

Mathematical representation ability influenced by metacognitive abilities. This study aims to describe the ability of mathematical representation in terms of students' metacognitive abilities. This research was conducted at a junior high school in Karawang Regency with 39 students in class VIII as research subjects. The research method used is a qualitative approach to the type of phenomenological research. Data in this study were obtained based on research measurement instruments in the form of mathematical representation ability test questions, metacognitive ability questionnaires, and interview guidelines. The data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman’s methods, which included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that students with high metacognitive abilities are able to fulfill the indicators of symbol and image representation very well, and quite good verbal representations, then students with moderate metacognitive abilities are able to fulfill the indicators of image representation well but are good enough for symbolic representation and verbal, as well as for students with low metacognitive fulfillment of symbolic, pictorial and verbal representations that are quite good.

Abstract

Kelancaran prosedural matematis siswa menjadi salah satu aspek penting dalam keberhasilan belajar matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi kelancaran prosedural matematis yang dimiliki siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal hots persamaan kuadrat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskripsi dengan subjek 32 siswa kelas IX di salah satu SMP Kabupaten Karawang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa soal hots persamaan kuadrat berdasarkan kelancaran prosedur matematis. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu: Reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi. Hasil dan pembahasan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kelancaran prosedural matematis siswa SMP khususnya pada materi persamaan kuadrat tergolong sedang dan sebagian besar siswa sudah mampu memahami konsep persamaan kuadrat secara fleksibilitas dan akurasi. Keterbatasan konteks yang dipelajari siswa menjadi hal utama pada kesulitan siswa dalam penyelesaian soal hots berbentuk cerita. Berdasarkan hasil dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa SMP tersebut memiliki kelancaran prosedural matematis dalam menyelesaikan soal hots persamaan kuadrat.

Abstract

Providing mathematical problems to students is the core of the process and product of learning at school. This study aims to examine the profile of the process of mathematical problem solving behavior and the profile of the level of self-determination of eighth grade students based on the level of mathematical ability, examining the relationship between Self-determination theory (SDT) and problem solving behavior, in terms of each dominant SDT aspect against the level of mathematical ability. A case study was used in this research, with multiple cases and multiple analyses. The instruments in this study consisted of mathematical problem solving ability test questions and questionnaires. The research subjects used in this study were five students of class VIII at one public junior high school in Bandung City who were taken by simple randomization, with the determination based on initial mathematical ability in the High, Medium, and Low categories. Based on the results and discussion, it is found that conceptual knowledge and procedural knowledge do have a significant influence on students in solving mathematical problems, However, the role of each aspect of SDT (interest, motivation, and confidence) also has a big impact on students ability to solve mathematical problems.

Abstract

Dalam pembelajaran matematika, motivasi menjadi aspek yang sangat penting untuk dimiliki siswa. Tanpa motivasi belajar yang tinggi, siswa tidak akan mampu mencapai kompetensi yang diharapkan pada pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk menganalisa motivasi belajar siswa SMK pada materi limit fungsi aljabar, dan metode dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif eksplanatif. Teknik pengambilan data diperoleh dengan angket terhadap siswa kelas XII Keperawatan pada salah satu SMK di Kabupaten Karawang dan kemudian dilakukan wawancara terhadap 3 orang siswa terpilih berdasarkan hasil angket yang memenuhi kualifikasi motivasi belajar siswa tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Penyingkatan data, pemaparan data dan pengambilan kesimpulan digunakan sebagai analisa. Hasil penelitiannya adalah siswa pada salah satu SMK di Kabupaten Karawang memiliki motivasi belajar yang tergolong dalam kriteria sedang pada materi limit fungsi aljabar, dengan pencapaian indikator tertinggi yaitu ketekunan dalam belajar sebesar 65%. Hasil wawancara dengan seorang guru matematika dan ketiga siswa yang masing-masing memiliki tingkat motivasi tinggi, sedang, dan rendah, dapat diketahui bahwa penyebab motivasi belajar siswa tidak maksimal adalah karena siswa terlalu bergantung kepada guru di sekolah

Abstract

Kemampuan penalaran matematis merupakan tujuan utama dalam belajar matematika. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menelaah kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas VIII mengenai relasi dan fungsi. Metode fenomenologi digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Tiga siswa dipilih dari 36 siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 2 Karawang Barat. Data yang dikumpulkan melalui instrumen tes dan non-tes (wawancara), kemudian dianalisis menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa pencapaian siswa terhadap indikator memberi penjelasan dengan pola, fakta, sifat, dan hubungan diperoleh 35,71%, siswa mampu membuat kesimpulan logis sebanyak 30%, siswa mampu memprediksi jawaban dan proses solusi diperoleh sebanyak 27,14%, dan siswa mampu menyusun argumen yang valid diperoleh 7,14%. Adapun hasil tes kemampuan penalaran matematis pada siswa dengan kategori tinggi memperoleh skor sebanyak 18, kategori sedang skor yang diperolehnya sebesar 12, dan kategori rendah memperoleh skor sebanyak 2.
