Abstract

Guru memastikan informasi dipahami peserta didik secara benar dengan cara memetakan konsepsinya. Pemetaan konsepsi ini perlu dilakukan untuk mengurangi miskonsepsi pada konsep tertentu dan mencegah miskonsepsi berkelanjutan pada konsep lain. Untuk itu, guru perlu memiliki kemampuan dalam mendeteksi miskonsepsi pada peserta didik. Namun berdasarkan diskusi dengan beberapa guru kimia di Kabupaten Gresik menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan deteksi ini perlu ditingkatkan. Hal ini menjadi dasar bagi tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat untuk memberikan pelatihan penyusunan soal diagnostik konsepsi peserta didik pada materi kimia di Kabupaten Gresik dengan mengacu Three Tier Diagnistic Test. Pelatihan dimulai dengan penyampaian informasi tentang tes diagnostik dan pengembangan tes diagnostik oleh guru. Berdasarkan hasil pengembangan tes diagnostik menunjukkan 6 dari 9 peserta telah menyusun soal tes diagnostik yang meliputi tier 1 sampai tier 3 secara lengkap untuk materi larutan penyangga, asam-basa, hidrolisis, kesetimbangan kimia, reaksi kimia, struktur atom, ikatan kimia, dan hukum dasar kimia.

Abstract

The digitalization of chemistry education is crucial for ensuring inclusivity and equal learning opportunities, particularly for students with intellectual disabilities. This study investigated students’ functional learning profiles through digital student worksheets (e-LAPD) on atomic theories, integrated with individualized strategies based on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) via the Liveworksheet platform. A mixed-methods approach with a concurrent embedded design was applied, involving three students with intellectual disabilities at SMAN 10 Surabaya. Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations, then thematically analyzed using NVivo 11, which yielded two major themes: the implementation of e-LAPD and students’ learning profiles. The analysis revealed that the implementation of e-LAPD effectively supported students’ understanding of the development of atomic theories, as evidenced by quantitative results obtained from questionnaire responses and pre-test/post-test instruments. Questionnaire data indicated that 100% of students reported improved conceptual understanding through e-LAPD. Furthermore, pre-test and post-test results showed a significant improvement with a high average N-gain score of 0.88. In addition, the findings highlighted students’ learning abilities and learning profiles, such as their tendency to engage with interactive visual media, their preference for verbal explanations, and their reliance on physical interaction during learning activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning profiles of students with intellectual disabilities, focusing on their learning styles in studying the basic laws of chemistry using e-LAPD based Liveworksheets. The participants were three students with intellectual disabilities from SMAN 10 Surabaya. A mixed-method approach with a concurrent embedded model was employed. Qualitative data were collected through interviews and observations and analyzed using Nvivo 11 software, while quantitative data were obtained from pretest and posttest results and analyzed using bar charts and N-Gain scores to measure improvement in learning outcomes. The quantitative data also supported the qualitative analysis of the relationship between learning style tendencies and learning outcomes. The results show that student DA exhibited a kinesthetic learning style, whereas E and RY demonstrated visual learning styles. Students engagement with e-LAPD activities reflected variations in learning style preferences. Quantitative analysis indicated an increase in learning outcomes, with N-Gain scores categorized as high. Therefore, a learning style that matches students characteristics can enhance learning outcomes. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that e-LAPD based liveworksheets can assist in analyzing learning profiles, particularly learning style tendencies that influence the learning outcomes of students with intellectual disabilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning strategies of students with intellectual disabilities using E-LAPD-based Liveworksheets on the nomenclature of chemical compounds by applying the UDL (Universal Design for Learning) approach. The research method used is a mixed of quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative analysis uses validation results and pretest and posttest scores. Pretest and posttest data were analyzed using N-gain. Qualitative analysis uses the results of interviews with students with intellectual disabilities, which will be analyzed using the NVivo application. The results of this study indicate that the application of the UDL (Universal Design for Learning) approach to students with intellectual disabilities is practical to implement. This is evidenced by the results of student interviews analyzed using the NVivo application using Cluster Analysis, grouping codes or themes based on their similarities in the text, producing a similarity matrix. In addition, this is evidenced by the pretest and posttest data analyzed using N-gain scores showing a good category with an N-gain score of ≥ 0.7. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the application of the UDL (Universal Design for Learning) approach with E-LAPD to students with intellectual disabilities on the nomenclature of chemical compounds is practical to implement.

Abstract

Students with intellectual disabilities experience difficulties in understanding abstract concepts such as chemical equations and reaction balancing. This study aims to describe the learning profile and determine the learning outcomes of students with intellectual disabilities using E-LAPD based on Liveworksheet integrated with the Individualized Education Program (IEP). This research employed a mixed methods approach with an embedded design. Quantitative data were obtained from pre-test and post-test to measure the improvement in learning outcomes, while qualitative data were collected through students’ interviews after completing the E-LAPD using N-Vivo 11 to identify responses and challenges during the learning process. The research subjects consisted of three students with intellectual disabilities at SMAN 10 Surabaya. The results revealed that students experienced difficulties in understanding chemical symbols, connecting reactants and products, and balancing equations independently. The implementation of E-LAPD based on Liveworksheet, which provides visual support, step-by-step guidance, and interactive exercises, helped students better understand the process of reaction balancing. An improvement in learning outcomes was demonstrated by higher post-test scores in all subjects. In conclusion, the E-LAPD based on Liveworksheet has promising potential as an adaptive learning medium for students with intellectual disabilities, although further development is required regarding content refinement and learning assistance strategies.

Abstract

Slow learner students require adaptive chemistry learning support to understand abstract concepts. This research aims to explore the learning profiles and learning outcomes of slow learner students using Electronic Student Activity Sheets (E-LAPD) with individualized learning strategies on the topic of periodic properties of elements. Participants consisted of three slow learner students at Senior High School 10 Surabaya. This research employed a mixed-method approach using an embedded design. Qualitative data were analyzed using NVivo 11 software, while quantitative data were analyzed using N-gain scores to measure learning outcomes. The findings indicated a dominant visual learning tendency, although one student also demonstrated an auditory preference. The results also showed improved learning outcomes with a high average N-gain score. These findings highlight that E-LAPD can support inclusive chemistry learning by accommodating diverse learning needs and facilitating adaptive and inclusive learning for slow learner students. AbstrakSiswa slow learner memerlukan dukungan pembelajaran kimia yang adaptif untuk memahami konsep-konsep abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi profil belajar dan hasil belajar siswa slow learner menggunakan Lembar Aktivitas Peserta Didik Elektronik (E-LAPD) dengan strategi pembelajaran individual pada materi sifat periodik unsur. Partisipan penelitian terdiri atas tiga siswa slow learner di SMA Negeri 10 Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods dengan desain embedded. Data kualitatif dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak NVivo 11, sedangkan data kuantitatif dianalisis menggunakan skor N-gain untuk mengukur hasil belajar. Temuan menunjukkan adanya kecenderungan gaya belajar visual yang dominan, meskipun satu siswa juga menunjukkan preferensi auditori. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan peningkatan hasil belajar dengan rata-rata skor N-gain yang tinggi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa E-LAPD dapat mendukung pembelajaran kimia inklusif dengan mengakomodasi kebutuhan belajar yang beragam serta memfasilitasi pembelajaran yang adaptif dan inklusif bagi siswa slow learner.

Abstract

Miskonsepsi kimia adalah kesalahan dalam memahami konsep-konsep dasar seperti struktur atom, ikatan kimia, dan reaksi kimia. Miskonsepsi dipengaruhi oleh strategi pengajaran yang kurang menekankan pada rekonstruksi konseptual peserta didik. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi miskonsepsi adalah melalui pembelajaran remedial Conceptual Change. Pembelajaran remedial mudah dilaksanakan melalui Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk mendampingi guru kimia di Kota dan Kabupaten Mojokerto dalam mengimplementasikan PTK sebagai upaya mengatasi miskonsepsi peserta didik. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendampingan berkelanjutan melalui pelatihan, praktik penyusunan perangkat pembelajaran, serta implementasi PTK berbasis Conceptual Change. Kegiatan dilaksanakan sejak April hingga November 2025 dan melibatkan guru kimia anggota MGMP Kota dan Kabupaten Mojokerto. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi persiapan perangkat pelatihan, pendampingan penyusunan proposal PTK dan Lembar Kegiatan Peserta Didik berbasis Conceptual Change, pendampingan pelaksanaan PTK hingga dua siklus, serta evaluasi dan refleksi hasil kegiatan. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes diagnostik konsepsi, angket, observasi, dan analisis laporan PTK peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman guru terhadap miskonsepsi peserta didik, pemahaman mendalam dan penguasaan teknik PTK, mulai dari karakteristik, siklus pelaksanaan, hingga kemampuan merancang proposal PTK yang secara spesifik berfokus pada upaya reduksi miskonsepsi, dan respon positif dari guru sebagai peserta pelatihan. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan PkM telah mencapai tujuan yang ditetapkan. Saran untuk pelaksanaan PkM tahun berikutnya adalah pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah sebagai hasil PTK untuk mereduksi miskonsepsi kimia peserta didik.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Discovery Learning integrated with Karang Penang brick making local wisdom in improving junior high school students' critical thinking skills on temperature and heat topics. This pre-experimental study used a one group pretest posttest design involving 27 students. Data were collected through a validated critical thinking skills test, learning implementation observation sheets, and student response questionnaires, then analyzed using N-Gain and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Tests. The results showed that learning implementation was excellent (83,33%) and student responses were highly positive (89.72%). The improvement in students' critical thinking skills was in the medium category with an N-Gain score of 0.5602. This indicates that developing a Discovery Learning based instructional tool integrated with Karang Penang local wisdom provides a positive contribution to improving students' critical thinking skills. The Wilcoxon test indicated a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.05). In conclusion, implementing Discovery Learning integrated with Karang Penang local wisdom effectively improves students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Field data and previous studies indicate that students’ critical thinking abilities regarding factors influencing reaction rates remain relatively low. This study aims to describe how Problem-Based Learning (PBL), supported by an electronic worksheet integrating multiple chemical representations, enhances students’ critical thinking skills. A descriptive quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design was employed, involving Grade XI students. Data were gathered through critical thinking tests administered before and after the learning intervention and analyzed based on six critical thinking indicators. The findings revealed significant improvement across all indicators, with the greatest gain observed in interpretation skills. Overall, the results demonstrate that Problem-Based Learning can effectively enhance students' critical thinking skills when combined with multiple chemical representations through an electronic worksheet. This study underscores the importance of innovative and contextually relevant learning tools in developing essential 21st-century competencies in chemistry education.
